- In this video, I provide personal tips for success and advice on how to approach reading the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. I walk through issues I had when trying to approach reading this epic poem and give advice for picking a translation, approaching reading it, and reasons for reading the introduction. Then, I provide a summary and review of, The Portable Dante by Mark Musa; which was the translation of the Divine Comedy that I read very easily and would recommend for your first time reading.

Thank you. Informative and helpful. Interesting that Hell is the most interesting place!
Ha. Yes. It was just more vivid than the other sections.
Same problem here, ie:
which translation to read.
I read it years ago but cannot remember which version it was.
Wondering if the Muso translation has any illustrations ?
Thank you in advance from the UK.
The Muso translation I had has a couple illustrations but nothing major. I know others due which really paint a picture of each stage throughout the journey. It was definitely worth the read in that translation. Dante's Inferno was probably the best. While, Paradisio gets a little bland. Thanks for watching and the comment.
