The recorder is a Mollenhaer modern Tarasov/ Patzold Alto with keys allowing to go down to low E and the keys also allows the recorder to play easily into the third octave and more trilling options. The higher notes require new fingerings. It has a great tone
Anybody noticed this is the wrong instrument? Bachs autograph specifies « Cembalo obligato e traversa sola » and I think it should be mentioned if you made a version for different instruments. The viol part is completely made up (scavenging the left harpsichord hand). This is a rather radical thing to do and merits being announced.
Ms Petri was the first recorder player I ever heard. After listening to her I thought the instrument was a joke. No dynamics, no color change, no wonder they use it as a toy instrument in schools. Were it not for a trip to the music store, and finding recordings from other players, that used the instrument to actually create music, with tonal diversity and dynamics I would have never ended up studying baroque recorder.
