I really don't love working out in the dark, unless it's a spin class where I'm staying on the bike the whole time. I know it's vibey, but I want to be able to see lol.

I loved this video Keltie! I started going consistently to Barry's this year 2-3 times a week and also started my running journey back in February. I really enjoy the workout that Barry's has to offer and my location has some incredible trainers as well who make you want to come back again and again. Overall, have had a great experience and glad you have to! 😊I appreciate the honesty you have on the cons side especially when it comes to the lack of warm ups/cool downs they provide as well though, good to keep a balanced review haha
Ahh i clicked so fast!! Always love seeing you in my notifications. Saturdays are the perfect timing, because I can use your vids as some pre long run motivation lmao
Keltie!!! I’m obsessed with your videos, this one and others got me through 14 miles on the treadmill. It’s the only thing I could listen to on my long run
I buy the 50 packs every year during the EOY sale - I go 3x per wk 😬 it’s something I save and budget for bc I love it so much. I live in San Francisco and I love my studio so so much - the instructors in the Castro are my absolute favorite. I’ve gone to studios in Boston, Miami, Toronto and SF is my favorite. I feel so lucky. Been going consistently for like 5 years. Love it. I still lift at the gym and walk a lot and use Barry’s as my cardio and stress reliever. I’m 42.

Row #90 will be tomorrow. How am I going to celebrate? I’m starting another one with a slightly different structure. Proud of your DJ’ing gig. Guessing you’ll slay. 🎉
Very informative, I was told that with yoga I can gain strength, so I'm not lifting weights now, because with yoga I also gain mobility and flexibility and for the cardio I enjoy long walks outdoors. I'd like you to review trainwell, formerly copilot.
I have lots of variety in my workouts, I spin at the gym (Lifetime) and started ClassPass for Row House, Pilates Reformer classes (local place) and Rumble boxing (once a week) ---- now my problem is the overtraining, I have to cancel a lot of classes each week because my body is like hmmmm no! LOL
I guess the Dyson hair dryers aren't commercial-rated if they are breaking down or have reached their usage limit, and Barry's has to replace them (stop being cheap; Barry's, replace your broken stuff). I love a group class; I go to Pilates, led by a physiotherapist, once a week. I wished I could afford more than that, but alas, I cannot.
Very similar, but I feel Barrys leans a bit more "intense". OTF has more walking options and you do a lot more things on your own vs. Barrys you're doing everything as a group for the most part. Actually OTF has more Equitment so you may get a better variety in terms of exercise. But I find the trainers at Barrys more experienced personally, which can result in better exercise selection. BUT thats not always the case, it's hard to say 100% because every OTF & Barrys studio I go to is a little different. Hope that helps! At the end of the day both are super similar, it just comes down to honestly the vibes you prefer lol
I love Barry’s but the music at the Toronto location is way too loud. My last class I had a headache the whole day after and I got constant warnings from my apple watch. Not worth the hearing damage.
Im curious of you're actual V02 number?! Its such a solid indication of longevity and health as we age, but the #s are base on the average person, so being 40 with a superior V02 max in ones age group , is comparing to the average person in that age group for example . But being 40 (or 50 etc) and having superior for a 20 yr old is actually superior.
Not a runner, but sometimes I'll go to do double floor with a friend. Every time I go, I look around and think "wow, this really isn't a class for beginners." There's no covering form, correction, etc. I see people doing things and think "they're going to hurt themselves."
How is this any different than Orange Theory? It looks exactly the same only we have full 50 min strength or tread classes now and 1/10 of the cost of Barry's
Loved this! However I couldn’t help noticing the parallels between Barry’s and Orange Theory. Was OT a knockoff of Barry’s? How would you compare the two?
Barry's is just floor and weights, OT has tread, weight circuit and row machine. You still get about as much cardio because of the row and rowing is a great movement. I'd say there's more of an emphasis on Zone 2 in OT because of the orange heart rate. Barry's more about vo2 max because it's more sprinting. So OT better for cario endurance training. The cardio split is different in every Barry's class which isnt a bad thing and you will get vo2 max and zone 2 from both. I just personally liked the instructors, people and overall vibes at Barry's compared to my local OT or F45. (F45 is just weight circuit and some classes have a cross fit type cardio element). The dark room and loud music I find very motivating. I will say you'll get more form correction at OT because there's less people in a class and OT has a screen demo-ing the weight movements (so does F45) and Barry's doesn't. I noticed the F45 instructors pay more attention to form correction, there's also multiple instructors per class so def more 1 on 1. F45 has more rest integrated into the class, Barry's there's no gaps but you're at least maxing the time working out in a short period of time. I also use Class Pass and my OT isn't on Class Pass and OT can be tough to cancel a membership. OT is a bit cheaper per class than Barry's too but not if you use ClassPass it's other way around. Different locations are all different prices so could be different where you are. You don't get anything from any of these classes you couldn't get in a gym for cheaper. But I definitely work out harder in the class than I would by myself and having a class booked motivates me and gets me in the door more often. OT has tracking stats built in so if you want to be able to track progress that's a plus. You'll get a killer workout and be sore from all of them but I can't do them more than twice a week because I need a lot of recovery from the cario/weight combo. And you will probably see faster/more change in your muscle building if you go to the gym. If your goal one class js to focus more on strength or cardio you should start with that thing in the class so you're more fresh for it. I also think if your goal is to lift heavy it's all free weights at Barry's so you could max out your hypertrophy training there and will plateau. I think you should try them all to see what you personally like, I just ended up liking Barry's the best and it ended up allowing me to build confidence and experience with working out so that I was eventually able to go to the gym myself.
The Oribe switch out is SO frustrating, esp the missing body lotion. And WHAT IS UP WITH THE GRITTY HAND SOAP NOW? + for those of us who shower there, they got rid of the plastic bags for our sweaty clothes :( If it wasn't for the fact I have the corp membership rates (which they still keep increasing the prices), I'd have dropped last year and am seriously considering leaving if anything else changes (or just buying classes when they're on sale).
HAHHA FAIR! But for context I had taken a break from working out fora few weeks to recover, and I thought I ws recovered...I was very wrong lol. Plan was just to walk and not run to ease back into it
@@KeltieOConnor- I'm imagining the feeling of being on a moving treadmill with the world spinning and flashing lights. 😂 That could have been the birth of your DJ trajectory. But as an intensity junkie myself, I know too well about trying to pull back and work in after a layoff only to have my cortisol addiction say otherwise. LOL
i’ve always wanted to try these type of workout classes but they always in a red room? i’m photosensitive and i always feel like throwing up with unnatural lighting, plus i get overstimulated with the high volume 😭😭
Again I’m shocked at the prices of fitness! I pay £18.99 per month for unlimited fitness classes at several venues (some international standard) throughout the city, plus gym use, swimming, reductions on things like ice skating or court hire, and one free PT session a month. Plus it’s a lovely community, plus the classes range from 8-25 people so instructors know you and are super inclusive. I have a complex disability that is sooo accepted!
It seems irresponsible for them to have newer-to-fitness people working out in a dark room. Trainers should be able to easily see and correct bad form and explain what to look for in your own good form to prevent injuries.
Speaking of prices and how people afford to go everyday lol. My husband and I live in the United states and he owns a small buisness also a MMA fighter his tax person saw his Gym and personal trainer costs and told him it was some type of write off? I wonder if influencers in the states write off these classes as buisness expenses on taxes.
Loved Barrys until they shortened the classes to 50 mins from 1 hour. After warmup and cooldown, you only get ~20 mins on the tread and weights. Definitely not enough training time for the price now IMO.
Looking at the videos you do have inside the class it seems to be primarily women. Do you often see men in these classes? Are they separate by gender typically?
I find Barry’s is the highest male % compared to all other major workout classes (minus things like CrossFit), but still mostly woman! I’d say there usually 2-8 ish guys and then the rest woman
@@KeltieOConnorThank you! Trying to determine if my fiance would be down to try with me or feel a little out of place. Thank you for the thorough review!
I did it for years but got bored and also - the vanity vibe and the type of people that go to the london studios… no thanks. Stuck up and full of themselves, they all think they’re supermodels or celebrities. Was a bit ridiculous
Keltie in the meantime I get very concerned about your mentioning of drinking alcohol in nearly every video. Especially when you also mention that it's not the best for your mental health. But it seems to be very frequent, at least according to the videos. Please be careful
I only drink 1x a month so don’t worry no problem haha. I LOVEEEEE a nightclub vibe so that’s why I do classes like this to get my dancing house music fix without drinking lol! Thanks for worrying about me ❤️ I used to be a big pariter in my early 20s, and defiantly go out a little more in the summer. But that’s taking 2x a month lol

I religiously go to Barry’s here in SF… I would say my studios are def 50/50 men and women - totally mixed.
I did it for years but got bored and also - the vanity vibe and the type of people that go to the london studios… no thanks. Stuck up and full of themselves, they all think they’re supermodels or celebrities. Was a bit ridiculous
Uhm, how are the instructors suppose to watch everyone's form when they can hardly see you in that red light? 😉
They must have super powers
They are actually good! They have corrected my form before!
Defiantly sounds like I’m justifying 🤣🤣 but just giving context
