Basisphenoid - Present in human embryo but later fuses with rest of sphenoid. It is the hollow on which pituitary gland rest
Planum sphenoid - Anterior horizontal part of the superior surface of body of sphenoid bone.also called Jugum sphenoidale.It marks posterior limit of anterior skull base.clinically significant in planum sphenoidale meningioma
