When discussing it as a parts pack, RacingBrick says “You might ask why it is special to have gears in a Technic set” - to further support that, consider that Technic builds sacrifice looks for functionality, and MOC builders need gears for most of the functionality they might want. Of course the top tier small Technic set that had the best gear selection is set 42102 Mini Claas with 10 gears, including two 36t gears, all in a $12 product.
The groomer is pretty impressive considering the low part count. As an AFOL I'm not sure it's something I would pick up mostly because playability isn't what I'm looking for in any of the sets. I am more into the building techniques and then eventually alternative builds. Slowly building a collection of parts so I can start learning how to do some MOCs as well.
After getting a few sets to have a collection of basic parts, you can get some spare pieces that exactly fit your MOCs' needs. Even those off-branded Lego spare parts from AliExpress work almost like genuine Lego for a quarter of the price from my experience. At least this is what I did and I have ended up with a wide variety of pieces and can build an even wider variety of MOCs
Thanks for the well done review. For me that is the best Technic set of the year so far, and considering the rumours for the upcoming sets with more licensed cars etc, it will remain the best. I'm not even sure if 3 functions in a 10 euro set has been done before, that's impressive! And a proper B model is included too. Technic has fallen in a pretty sad state the last few years considering the 10 euro sets are the only ones keeping its true spirit alive. At least I'll vote with my wallet and buy this when it reaches the shelves over here.
I do agree. It does seem like the look of technic is build it and forget about it than build it then take it apart and make something else out of the pieces.
I bought 5 25$ sets in 2017-2018 and they were full of playability and useful parts. Especially the roadwork crew and hydroplane racer gave me an awesome building experience. But then even though my enthusiasm for Lego hadn't faded at all, the bigger Lego sets just seemed a bit meh. I just resorted to buying knockoff Lego spare parts from AliExpress which work 90% just as well and make MOCs with them
@@ivbox I looked at the Airbus. But it only had the battery box and 1 motor. I just purchased the transformation vehicle to get the tracks motors and hub
I would say that the b model, although basic, seems to work like a real snowmobile. If you put weight in the back it gains traction and the skis are meant to carve into snow so you would not get that steering effect until you are going. If you let go of your handlebars and move, a real snowmobile would have a similar result with steering. You more float and carve on a real snowmobile so I think this is as accurate as it could be for such a compact design.
The sheer hapiness i feel while seeing these amazing 10 € sets just made me think and decide to go to my nearest Lego shop to spend some euros and buy all of 10€ Technic sets they have... which is not much, but i will do it
Thanks for your reviews. I ordered 42147 and 42148 for 10€ for both (around 50% discount) with an extra voucher from big A. I like the small Technic sets, they'll offer lots of alternates on rebrickable.
I have to say, given its size, this tiny version has the exact functionality of the old, larger snow-groomer. I daresay it's better, as one of the issues that set has is the limited track functionality. It works fine on a carpet, but is plagued by the same slipperiness on smooth surfaces that all of the larger vehicles run into. In fact, the only thing you're not getting on this one is the swivel for the smoothing plate at the back, it's great!
What you're also not getting is the genious 2-axis joystick for the front shield control, but I guess there's no way that woulda been possible at this scale.
Probably the best Technic set of 1H2023. Technic should only be about functions and the other themes like Speed Champions and Creator Expert can have the looks and licences. No one cares that this is not a PistenBully®.
Both small Technic sets from this wave are winners imo, definitely an improvement over last year's March sets.
I got the little Forklift yesterday and I'll be picking up both the Snow Groomer and Dump Truck soon. All 3 are home runs if you ask me.
@@HasbundaaDon't worry I just got it😉
@@globetrotter7778 Don't forget the polybag helicopter from two years ago
0:18 "the machine working in it's natural habitat" this is why i love supporting this guy

I have the mini class but I can't find it
7 gears actually
Your vocabulary explains the model much better than my eyes
This is one of my favorite sets this year so far, so much functionality and realism in so few parts!
This set already has a ton of alt models on rebrickable so you could check them out and review as well :)
Yeah I could do many many things if every day had like 72 hours...

Three (3!) functions in one technic model! Great!

I am not discrediting the time and skill that goes into creating the designs. It's definitely an art

I went into Lego only last year. I feel the Airbus helicopter (42145) is wonderful.

I love the fact is really good playable. LEGO did a good job on that!
They need to add a Hawkeye minifig to this set.
Got this set today and it is soooo worth it.

The Hawkeye minifig would be a great pack-in with this

@@PhoenixClank Yeah, they had to split the functionality between two things here, but I'm still getting one :D
It's pretty close to minifig size, and I will probably stick it somewhere in my city, maybe as a background piece.
I didn't know there were wheel rims that had cross axle in middle at this scale :O
I need to look them up!
Will definitely buy this set and modify it with system parts for my winter village)
It's a very cool build
I would love to see a snow test to see how effective it actually is
That probably the cheapest way to get that long linkage beam.
From the thumbnail I thought it's some Ice Planet retrospective
Does it come with a minifig of Jeremy Renner? 😔
Considering the targeted age group both the truck and this set are nice sets to get kids interested in Technic
I just got this today
No jeremy renner mini fig included? 😢
02:36 and jeremy renner will luze a leg from snow machine
Great video
Can you review the lego heart ornament set?
I don't think so, it doesn't look like something particularly interesting from a building experience perspective, would be a very quick video

Bought it just for the tracks tbh
How did you build your shelf’s I’d like to build them
I have a video about it, look for "IKEA" on the channel
Ok thank you
Nice video. Sweet cars display. New Subscriber and regular viewer incoming. Thanks for sharing. Have an awesome one.
just wondering does the tray at the back open up in the B model? I just noticed a suspicious lever near the tray
There's an antenna at the rear but nothing opens there
@@RacingBrick ahh thanks!
Are the tracks a rubber or hard plastic. Was curious about this set for its functional pieces for other builds
The tracks are hard plastic as usual
@@RacingBrick Ah thanks. I have seen some plastic looking ones before.
Who here is buying the new mclarens in March?
I love McLaren
Not sure yet as it depends on my budget :)
