Your so right about T8 Ravens moves forcing you into stances. Its quite offputting for me because I like the feeling of choosing when and when not to use it.

Unrelated: when Tag 3 drops I hope it's 3v3 and they make Master Raven, Phantom Raven, and Great Raven all selectable.
So far every tag game is after 3 main titles, TK 1,2,3 then TTT 1. TK 4,5,6 TTT 2. And now TK 7, 8,9 then tag 3

@@finnz7786 Some characters like Reina can strangely backdash out of the second hit, plus you can't hit confirm like 1,1,4
@@finnz7786 its harder to confirm and the first two hits are high. 114 easier to confirm and high mid
@@finnz7786 Maven's 1,1 was really good in my opinion. The second hit was a mid, and slower than 1,2 which made it easier to hit confirm with for the full string. I believe it also tracked.

I only picked up Master Raven at the tale end of Tekken 7, this was such an insightful video.
I've actually stopped playing T8 because of most of what you've mentioned here. I was by no means a specialist, (Sitting Uncomfortably in Fujin in T7 & T8), but even I could feel the effects of what you pointed out. In my opinion, he isn't just different, they nurfed him.

100% with you on the rigid transition option T8 Raven has, its kind of strange 2, 4 can auto dash on hit, but we cant forward dash cancel from soul zone. I hope they improve the frame for back turn down 4 on block in the future too. Awesome content as always.

Agreed. He says witness the results of my training and he forgot how to do certain moves? Makes no sense. I'm still mad his character episode didn't have a montage of him training to show how he leveled up.

There's Master Raven tweaks/unique setups I really enjoy and imho felt the most comfy to pull off(I really started playing more Raven in T7), but I will never deny how big a help Tekken 8 is for helping the character(as well as others) with stuff tracking and hit registration stuff. I do like Maven's unique model but good god was it a bad time when you could basically lose the round over something not counting and going through somebody. Great video!
I think ravens gameplay could be improved while not being broken with at least three out these six changes
1) make soulzone teleport in place harder to float
2) making it so we can wavedash from soulzone
3) make bt ff3 faster or at least -3 or even 0 on block idk just not make it -9 so they have an actual reason not to duck at the wall
4) give back bt throw mixups or give soulzone throw
5) give ub1,2 ANY use whatsoever
6) give raven a move like leory's df3+4 where he can crush and one hit launch (it doesn't need to be safe high but you get the point)

I'm surprised that he didn't get Fatal Blow to Metal Storm [I suck at numbers and only remember moves by name], but it would be cool to see him with those moves but If not then they might be keeping it for Maven to give her a sense of similarity to Raven, especially since they are separating the ninjutsu tactics between the two.
Shadow Clones Vs. Haze & Teleportation will be a chaotic match to watch.😁

Absolutely agreed with your analysis. To add one thing I think a blue spark version of Undertaker with more damage when using legacy input would be cool. Other characters get that and it helps distinguish specialists, as you mentioned.
Imagine a Raven wavedashing against you and he pulls off blue spark Undertaker. That shit is hype.

I agree with you for the most part about what you say about Raven needed to be more complete but I think there is one set of moves i would Recommend change the most for him is his grab game make his bt 1 grab a 1 break and his 2 grab a 2 break

I miss Master Raven as her design is more original. And I miss invincibility frames in (3~4)f, I loved to bait rage arts and go through the opponents, now they track me even if I'm already behind them.. More of her moves also launched well or were better in combos. Also it's weird getting used to that f1+2 is no longer a homing move
While in haze 4 was cool and crouch dash into 3,4 had cool animation surfing the enemy

I actually want T7 Qcf1,2 back in its entirety lol 😂, call me greedy. I want the crumple stun back it was perfect. The T8 version of the move is a shell of its former glory smh. I also agree with SZN having a crouch dash transition that would be neat as well. And B1 also shouldn’t be a canned mix neither I 100% agree there too. Great video as usual tho bro ⚔️🔥🥷🏾.

the extensions from sz are very powerful mixup already, crouch dash from sz its like adding another 10 deadly mixups, maby this would be to strong and to mutch to deal with. but yea I really miss ss3 and ff*4 , but if I had to chose one thing back it has to be ub1 teleport lol.
i honestly don’t think so. Maven had an actual launcher from haze, an unblockable, a safe on block low, teleport, HAZ 4 etc
As someone who is learning to wave dash, being fluid with all of raven's transitions is a nightmare. I have no clue how you do it. Some power mids to compensate for my lack of skill would certainly make things easier.
just practice in p mode movement and transitions, force yourself to use them!

Same and I dropped him cuz it didn’t pay out for me. I only got to Battle ruler w him. But I got to blue ranks w 6 other chars so unfortunately as much as I love him I don’t play him anymore
Even though he has similar moves, he is very different from Master Raven, which forces us to change our strategy. I've started to adapt to this new way of playing with Raven now, but I still feel like I'm not as comfortable as I was with Maven.
He’s got a bunch of videos on learning the character. Dude helped me get to Red rank and slow but surly helping reach purple.
When I saw this vid I had to watch, raven is a great character in t8 as of right now. Idk if it’s just me, but he could totally have more.

Totally agree with B1 Sz not being optional when it is on 12, Db21, Bt22 etc, it seems a bit faster now and also B3 has much better onblock +frame so maybe thats part of the reasoning. Raven's Wr3 is amazing but why is it 26frames when Victors is 16? lol even big tonka toy Jack's is i23. Keep up the good work @EU No1 Raven!

I really enjoy Raven in 8 but totally agree the character expression is less than T7. Stance cancels and dashes would def make him more interesting.

@@smuuggggg yeah its literally just the frame rate. A lot of recording software programs dont record solid 60 every second of the video, so if haze occurs during that time itll just disappear LMAO
What do you think about these buffs? 4,1 change from -3 to -1on block b2,2 change from 15 startup frames to 13 frames on startup. Soul zone 1+2 change from 0 on block to +2 on block. Uf4,4 change from-15 to -13 on block. Do you think those buffs would be too much? Here is my second question. Do you feel they should have added his daggers into his move list in this game, you know, like giving him some new strings using those daggers? Is that something you would want, or do you think it would be too much?

If it's one thing I want to change about Raven is I want his Df2 to be a 15f. I always played Nina and Raven, Nina b1+4 used to be 16f but is now 15f. It doesn't make sense that rage art only -15, other characters have beefy easy 15f launchers but Raven's get left behind? I think BT should be throw mix again the UT has reduced damage now. Also qcf3 should be launcher when opponent is grounded and air hit should be hit throw. Yes I hate being forced into stance
yeah the moment I got to try Raven in T8 beta, the new qcf 1 / qcf 1,2 behavior really threw me off. I wish we'll have the T7 properties back in T8

Am I the only one who misses ub1~f? It was a sick side switch move where Raven sends his clone to the other side and switches places with it, or he could make it a feint and send a clone without switching places with it (I think you hold b). Why on Earth did they remove it in T8? (I know it wasn't in T7 but that's bc Maven can't use clones)
Other than that, I really miss qcf3 being a launcher, and I think it's BS that they removed Raven's BT throw mix while keeping Feng's and Hwo's.

For t8, ravens 4,1 to 2 combo filler seems to only land for certain characters consistently. For Everyone else, it appears to require a perfect frame input
The following people require perfect frame input it seems.. somewhere around a 40f delay after the 4,1

Everyone else has a much wider gap for the input delay between 35-45f after the 4,1, hence I hit it consistently every time

delay the ff3, that combo is inconsistent and id advise to follow other more damaging routes. If you’re gonna stick with it, delay ff3 a bit to
make it more consistent

Am I the only one that have a problem that they took away Ravens shadow clone low attack from TK6/TTT2 and changed it to a mid shadow clone in TK8 instead of having both mid and low to have a better mix up? With the current shadow clone system there is no guessing. How is he supposed to be the shadow clone master and the clones don't have you scared shitless.... Now imagine after soul zone a mid or low shadow coming for you, how different that would be with the mix up

I honestly feel like the first order of business for Raven is to patch out the auto transitions into his stances and let us do it manually as well as giving us more options we can transition into stances from. Raven is a lot weaker this time around especially in a room full of over tuned characters in T8.

I was previously playing 13 characters in tekken 7 and 8 characters in 8, out of all the characters I play, raven is by far the strongest, I may have only played him seriously recently so I wouldn't completely understand what the past raven metas were but from what I've been able to do with him he seems like a character with so many playstyles and so many strengths, and I do know that they buffed his frames and his 50/50 and he has some pretty good poking in front and back turned, the amount of flowcharts and setups you can do are countless almost, and his heat is probably one of the best in the game due to you being able to do high chip damage safely and you recover it with hits, everyone I meet usually doesn't even want to play against the character because you can force them into pressure and they almost can't ever pressure me back because of the parry power crush or backsway unless I'm in the corner. I remember the first day I picked up raven and I made a hwo and Yoshi not want to fight against me. I've never been able to do that any other character I played, which is definitely why he's my favorite.

@@imortalXsoul You know in tekken 5 raven single wave 3+4 has juggle 3+4 db 4 and b, 3 it was mandatory and if someone got up on the third hit then f 4 was also confirmed.
