In fact, I decided to upgrade from my 12 into a 13 this year. Furthermore, they gave me a pretty good trade-in value on the 12. Don't get me wrong, I love my 12 but, there was some design changes that I felt would benefit me. Personally, I love the rounded camera module. I feel it separates them from every other brand. It gives the phone a futuristic look.
Hey Drew. Thanks for the unboxing. I’m new to Android and getting this phone. Can you tell me how you got your Home Screen icons to scroll/wrap around like that when you swipe?
Hey, awesome! Enjoy it! Long press on the home screen as you would to customize the wallpaper and there's an option to change the icon animations. I also remove the icon names under the icon settings.
This device was targeted for 1+11 and older not 1+12 owners. I don't see this converting other OEM competitors - Samsung S25 series looks dull as well. Would have been nice if the Pixel 9, S25, 1+13 used Qi2 magnets inside the device - cases are lame - oh well lets see what happens next year
I completely agree. The lack of significant innovation in the mobile phone industry is becoming tiresome. Most new releases offer only minor updates, making it difficult to justify upgrading. In fact, for the average user, a 2-3 year old phone likely provides a comparable experience to the latest models for everyday tasks.
Same, with it dropping so early into 2025 I am curious how it will fair. I will say, (dropped review today), the cameras are honestly the same and possibly worse than the OnePlus 12. I am hoping maybe some software updates fix that.
Non-US models would have corresponding chargers if bought in corresponding countries. This is the US model since I’m based in the US, includes the standard US brick.
Impressive video, Drew Lipps. Looking forward to seeing your next upload from you. I tapped the thumbs up icon on your content. Keep up the fantastic work. The design changes from the OnePlus 12 to the 13 are intriguing! How do you think the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset will impact its gaming performance compared to the previous model?
Thank you! I greatly appreciate it 🙏🏼 👊🏼 The design changes for sure are interesting. It's not as nice using it in comparison to the rounded 12 but it is easier to use, function over form improvements here in design for sure. Performance on the 8 elite is pretty insane. Pretty big jump for gaming, heavy multitasking, but in everyday tasks you won't notice as much. It is super smooth though with no lag. The best part is battery performance and optimization. Easily a 2 day phone, maybe 3 with light use. The battery is honestly the highlight here between the chipset and new 6000 mah battery.
Debating whether to get the 13 or the 13r. I don't need all the bells and whistles but I want some of those without breaking the bank, but at the same time, want the flagship experience
Personally I have never purchased or used their r variants. Usually the price difference isn’t that different between them but this year they’re both priced higher which makes it a bit harder to recommend either overall but to get the best flagship experience I’d recommend the 13 over the r or even a 12 on resale if you can find a better deal for much less $. In everyday use I don’t really see many massive differences between the 12 or 13.
I was thinkinh the same, luckily for me i live in China so i went in store to see them myself. Having them both in hand, the difference im quality is very noticible, at least to me it was. Amd the 13 was more comfortable to hold. Also had better weight and balance. It swayed me away from the 13r. Or here im China ots called the ace 5.
black actually looks good compared to blue and white
It looks pretty solid, similar to the 12 of last year. I like the white, not a fan of the blue at all personally.

I agree, the camera layout is kind of niche (extremely). I'm interested in how it measures against other 2025 flagships.

in what version the phone comes with UK style plug charger ?

Can you test the Google Maps navigation. I Have a Pixel 9 Pro XL and i Iphone 11 and my iphone is in navigation more smooth then the Pixel.
That’s odd, using google maps on both the iPhone and the pixel ? Or are you using Apple Maps on the iPhone ?
