What a marvellous selection of locos and shots Austin. I could watch that billowing exhaust (around 6:30) all day long. I'm so pleased that someone cares for these smaller locos. Take care - Chris
Thia has to be one of the best spectacles of hard working steam in the UK Austin, and I look forward to your coverage of the Gala each year, and as always you bring home the goods...Amazing to watch...Thanks very much...Bob
Bellerophon decided to spit out a cylinder end cover stud on Saturday afternoon but was in the shed and repaired Saturday evening, and back out in full health on Sunday. She is in better condition now nearing the end of her 10 year ticket than when she came back into service having had lots of mechanical work carried out including new valve rings, a new driving axle and all axleboxes refurbished, new piston rods and slidebars reground and realigned along with new slippers on the crossheads. She has just under 18 months left before her boiler ticket runs out and she will be making a final tour of other railways in that time, starting with the short line at the Welland Traction Engine rally near Malvern on the 28th,29th,30th July.
Brilliant video Austin. They always put on a fantastic gala. Superb show of awesome power up the incline. A thoroughly enjoyable watch. Best wishes C&A
Thanks for sharing, as one of the volunteers who was driving all three days it's always interesting to see it from the spectator's perspective. The coal is particularly smokey and it is difficult to control in smaller locos that don't have brick arches, and those that do when we have to lift a big train up that 1 in 25 from a standing start!
Thanks Nigel, I know it's frowned upon but for me there is nothing to beat a smoky exhaust so thanks to you and all the crews for your efforts over the weekend as I'm sure all the visitors appreciated it. It's always enjoyable to visit the friendly Foxfield and I hope the railway did well from the event. Looking forward to the autumn gala now!
Thanks for sharing another superb video, Austin. It's hard to pick a favourite sequence, but Bellerophon and the Dubs Crane somehow have the edge. Maybe the Foxfield ethos is defined by that element of defiance which appears throughout! Best regards, Bob.
I haven't seen Bellerophon' in steam since 1986 at the KWVR in company with 'Charwelton' a Manning-Wardle 0-6-0 saddletank on the Damems Shuttle at the Gala. Belting down hill recorded from the guards compartment of a 1924 ex Southern Railway 'matchboard' brake coach, (S. Eastern & Chatham design).
Im planning on visiting the gala in couple of weeks. How easy is it moving around the colliery to dilhorne section. I always see shots from one side then the other side of the line are there plenty of crossing points
Yes, there is a crossing about halfway up the bank between the colliery and Dilhorne. Loads of spots to film from. The ground near Dilhorne Park can get very muddy but shouldn't think that'll be a problem this year!
Terrific show once again. I like those little Bagnalls, although Whiston sounded terrific as well. Apparently there are volcanoes in Staffordshire now then (6:00) ?
Thanks Alan, yes passenger trains do run but not down the steeply graded section to the colliery, as yet. I've filmed passenger workings in the past but there aren't many clear sections of the line to film from and the freights coming up the bank is definitely the main attraction
The coal bill for 7 engines over 3 days comes to a shade under £2k. Thankfully the gala was a huge success, thanks in part to the TV coverage on BBC's Midlands today. Watch out for details of the autumn gala at the end of September.
Superb quality filming, capturing the working quality of these fabulous locos, Foxfield at its very best
Thanks very much, I always enjoy a visit to the Foxfield as the performances never disappoint
Now that's my kind of railway! Thanks Austin.
Noel
Thanks Noel, they always put on a good display
As always Austin another classic from you at Foxfield. Cheers, Dave.
Thanks Dave, always a good day at the Foxfield
Lots of black steam and again extraordinary cam shots of it. Locos do their best and work hard. - Heinz
Thank you Heinz, it was great to watch these engines working so hard
was there myself today but stayed down the colliery. Superb video, sound and picture spot on as always
Thanks Nigel, I did want to get some shots around the colliery but it was rather crowded. I look forward to seeing your photos
Amazing how such a small steam loco can produce so much steam and smoke and noise love it
Small but powerful, thanks for watching
What a marvellous selection of locos and shots Austin. I could watch that billowing exhaust (around 6:30) all day long. I'm so pleased that someone cares for these smaller locos. Take care - Chris
Thanks Chris, as you say it is good that the smaller industrial locos are not forgotten as they have played their part in the story of the railways
Fantastic footage Austin...loved it...great sounds and copious amounts of lovely Clag !!! Well done.....Steve.-:)
Thanks Steve, the Foxfield never disappoints lovers of clag!
Thia has to be one of the best spectacles of hard working steam in the UK Austin, and I look forward to your coverage of the Gala each year, and as always you bring home the goods...Amazing to watch...Thanks very much...Bob
Thanks Bob, a visit to the Foxfield is always one I look forward to and this one was no exception, an excellent display of hard working steam
top quality from the filming to the railway itself.
Thank you, it is a very friendly line and the galas are always something to look forward to
Fantastic! Grey skies, but tons of smoke and clag. Good to se Bellerophon in good health - my favourite. Once again THANK YOU Sir. del.
Thanks Del, the Foxfield always delivers what the enthusiasts love to see

Nigel Brazier belerophon is evil. What I've heard, the rumor is she requires a offer of blood off her crew.
Brilliant video Austin. They always put on a fantastic gala. Superb show of awesome power up the incline. A thoroughly enjoyable watch. Best wishes C&A
Thanks very much, yes a great show as always and conditions helped with the exhaust effects
Great set of shots Austin, the Foxfield always seem to put on great galas every year. Nice locations too. Regards JamesandPeter
Thanks James, it was a good display once again from the locos and crews at the wonderful Foxfield
Fantastic Austin , what wonderful sounds and sights with the one at 3-40 standing out for me . Nice to see you had good weather .
Thanks Steve, conditions really helped with the exhaust effects and luckily got away with just one shower
Some lively shots there!
It's always a good show at a Foxfield Gala, looking forward to this weekend!
Excellent shots! Little engines but great action on those super steep grades. Whiston's a winner! Loved it.
Thanks Hugh, little engines with a big bark!

thanks for sharing, its the same here its a battle to get things going
Thanks John much appreciated
Amazing video! Bellerophon is always a favorite engine of mine and to see it working hard their is just amazing.
Thank you, it is always good to see Bellerophon working and the Foxfield is the best base for her I think
Yes I am sure it is
Don't think I've seen so much smoke and steam, Austin. The engines certainly have to work a bit. Great images and sounds. Keith.
Thanks Keith, the Foxfield is probably one of the best places to see steam working hard
Thanks for sharing another superb video, Austin. It's hard to pick a favourite sequence, but Bellerophon and the Dubs Crane somehow have the edge. Maybe the Foxfield ethos is defined by that element of defiance which appears throughout! Best regards, Bob.
Many thanks Bob, it's always good to visit this railway and hopefully next year they may be able to run passenger trains down to the colliery
Great video of the gala : ) I was going to visit the railway today, but due to the rain forecast over this morning, I decide not to go.
Thanks, shame you didn't make it, there was only about a half hour of rain in the end so it wasn't too bad
As always splendid images. Thanks Austin.
Thank you Philippe
Another wonderful video Thank you!
Thank you, it's always a good show at the Foxfield

I remember her at the KWVR and have quite a bit of early video of her climbing out of Keighley. A wonderful loco
Excellent stuff as always Austin. It's a wonder the environmentalists aren't shouting about all that superb clag!
Give them half a chance and they would do Peter, many thanks for watching

awesome
Thank you
This is why I like J94s as the sound they make is amazing!!
They do, wonderful locos
Nice video
Many thanks, always a great display from the Foxfield
Terrific show once again. I like those little Bagnalls, although Whiston sounded terrific as well. Apparently there are volcanoes in Staffordshire now then (6:00) ?
Thanks, yes these Staffordshire volcanos tend to erupt twice a year, always a spectacular sight!
Wow....! Crackin vid'.... Whiston sounds rather "beefy" :)
Thanks, yes I would have loved to have seen and heard Whiston when it was hauling heavy trains at its colliery home
i remember meeting you there
We did, I've had a look at your channel, some very nice videos, keep it up
thanks
2:20 For a moment there i thought you were tilting the camera. Bloody hell that is steep! :D
1 in 19 at its steepest!
Train Maniac Studios okk7ikkm
Good show, Austin. Don't they run passenger trains? Or were the freight the main attraction for you? Very impressive, anyway.
Thanks Alan, yes passenger trains do run but not down the steeply graded section to the colliery, as yet. I've filmed passenger workings in the past but there aren't many clear sections of the line to film from and the freights coming up the bank is definitely the main attraction
They certainly are the main attraction, but their coal bill must be sizeable!

3:00 to 4:00 headline sequence in the next 'Carry on Clagging' DVD
Be plenty of material for those videos at the Foxfield!
What locos were Eustace Forth and Kent Electric?
The two 0-4-0 tanks, Kent Electric in red and Eustace Fourth in green
Great video - I've subbed :)
