    Just got my PaddleSki and can't wait to hit Egmont Key and Fort Despot , Anclotte , obviously I need to get me a motor soon to enjoy more areas. Thanks for your videos I'm learning more about inflatables.

      Congratulations on your new paddle ski! Yes, you will definitely want a motor to get to those locations that you're talking about. You will have a blast! Once you arrive at your location, use the wind and the currents to your advantage and do a little paddling as well.

    Hi Cliff,
    Your videos on paddleskiing greatly helped me make my choice on this wonderful little boat. I was looking for something easy to transport and put in the water. I am really not disappointed and although I watch a lot of videos on the subject, I am convinced that I made the right choice for my needs. The only less positive point was the driving position with the outboard motor directly behind the seat. I had to turn the seat slightly or stand a little sideways to have reasonable access to the engine handle. I solved this little inconvenience by purchasing an extension handle for an outboard motor. This handle has a universal joint that allows excellent control of engine speed and direction while seating toward the front of the boat. The extension model that I purchased is a Helsmate u-model from the Ironwood Pacific company (around $100 Canadian). It's worth a try, I promise. Finally, I would like to thank you for these wonderful videos which are always interesting to watch.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you so much for watching and and for sharing that tiller extension handle! One of my other viewers recently put a square Yeti Hartside cooler in to replace the seat. He said it allowed him to swing sideways (straddle) or front ways very easily and was very comfortable, plus it gave him a cooler in his seat. I'm going to try that out as well.

    I did ask the question about using the Paddleski without the seat on the other guy's video but, you answered the question on the Text. I used to sail for years on a Hobie 16 and it becomes uncomfortable having your feet level with your butt.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I recently saw a post from another paddle ski user and he purchased a square Yeti hard side cooler. It fit perfectly where the seat goes, and it allowed him to face forward or straddle, to easily face both directions. It looked very comfortable, I might try that as well. Always searching for other options.

    I know you have the watersnake 70, would like to see it used at full power on a lake. When I went out last I only did half throttle. Also wonder how much extra speed you get if you push the boost button.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, I have that on my list to do a speed and range test with my watersnake 70 on the paddle ski. Look for it this summer sometime. I'm not aware of any boost button on my watersnake 70.
      Next time you are out, try it full throttle. You'll get about 6 mph with one person.

    • @BTSflyer
      @BTSflyer 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@KayakCliff Take a look at the manual. It said not to use boost for very long. On the battery you were using on one of your videos had bluetooth but, I looked it up and they don't carry that specific model anymore I guess. I watched several reviews on different brands of 100AH lithium batteries. Li-Time seemed well built from what I saw in the reviews and they just came out with a group 24 size 100 Ah battery which had a good sale price. They also have a smaller form size for 100AH range called the Mini but without bluetooth. Oh by the way I already had a 55AH lithium battery that I used with my former sailboat. I wanted to quickly switch batteries when needed so since the Watersnake had a Anderson plug, I had a electrical cable company make one for my new battery. Now I can switch batteries in 5sec.

    You explained that you liked the swivel seat that came with the PaddleSki better than sitting on the deck, but I noticed that you started the video with the old blow-up seat. Was that a no-go? I'm never very comfortable reaching back for the tiller on the 5hp motor in the PaddleSki. It is probably because I have short arms lol. But just looking to find out your best fit in this thing.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The inflatable seat was definitely a no go. I did like the capability of just sitting on the floor and having the whole boat wide open, but after about a four hour trip, I got a little sore when I hit the big waves coming back. A lot of bouncing. If it had stayed calmer, sitting on the floor would've worked fine. I can see doing that if I was going out snorkeling or scuba diving. More room for my gear. The swivel seat is super comfortable, it does require that you swivel it sideways, so you can reach the tiller better.

    Where do you find the sweet spot for the outboard trim level?

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I trim it up enough so there isn’t a bunch of “back wash” spring up the transom and into the engine. Also, don’t want the bow to porpoise, but I
      typically don’t have that problem with the paddleski. Hope this helps!!

      I’m having a situation where the transom side supports just dig into the pontoons increasing the transom angle while running. Does this happen on yours. I’ve kept watching your videos to see if indeed you have it too, but no luck. Btw, this happens even when psi is per spec (3.2 psi).

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! Once the transom is loaded down with your outboard, it will dig into the pontoons a little bit, and even appear to bounce a little bit when you are underway hitting waves. This occurs, even at the 3.2 psi levels, which is totally normal. Sometimes a pressure gauge on a manual pump cannot be as accurate as the digital battery operated pumps that I use. What type of pump are you using? Again, it's totally normal for the transom to dig into the pontoons just a little bit. It definitely is noticeable. Does not affect the boat at all. Just increase the tilt in your engine until you get the ride that you want. I usually have mine up about 2 to 3 holes from the lowest setting.

    Hello Cliff, what model/style of LaCrosse neoprene boot do you use?

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Chloe - Great question! I’m not sure of the model, but I can say it’s fully neoprene, but one of the thinner neoprene models for they type of weather
      we have in Texas in the winter. Depending on where you will be wearing them, make sure you get either thick or thinner neoprene. For me, I will never
      be out lower than the 30 degrees, so a thinner boot works. I would just check out their website and look at which boots are made for colder vs. warmer climates. Hope this helps!

    As for Ship wrecks , the owner of the vessel is required to remove it. Or you pay fines. To bad Fl DMV is so bad with Boat Salvage titles. its almost impossible to get a new title for a salvaged boat thats why you see so many. great video.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s very durable, I don’t fish, but I would totally be comfortable fishing out of mine. You obviously need to be a little more careful when you are
      pulling that rattle trap back with 2 treble hooks on it, but you’ll be fine!

    I noticed no registration on these boats, do you not have to register them in Florida?

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question. My PaddleSki is registered in my home state of Texas. Since numbers don't stick too well long term on an inflatable, I have my tag and registration numbers adhered to a 8"x24" plastic plate that I got at West Marine. These plates can be zip tied to your D rings and draped over the side of the bow. In this video, you can see where I just laid them upfront in case I got stopped, that works fine for me!
