Thanks for another great show Pete, excellent analysis as always. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, with the knowledge of our vulnerability at SJP and our opponents potency in attack, why would our illustrious leader not put Mings and Konsa at the back? We have conceded 14 goals in our last 5 away games and it is crystal clear that we have do something to stop the goals against us going in on such a regular basis. Defensively, Mings is superior to Torres, I think that is a given, and in games like this where we are going to be doing more defending than attacking it would make perfect to sense to default to our best defensive partnership. Result apart, but we won 3-0, that was one of if not the best fan Video ive seen in a long time, well done, really enjoyed your presentation and Canadian dry humor.
Seems you made in impact with the Geordie fan base Pete. Looking at the comments. An unsurprising result at St James Park and the annual Boxing Day performance so I was kinda expecting it. Also what I was expecting was once again a brilliant episode of The Holy Trinity Show from yours truly. Good to see Sandra and the boys in the early footage too. All the best for the rest of the holidays Pete.
Ah.. the Duran red card... Now i personally think Duran landing his studs on Schar was unintentional and without malice. But trying to bring Schar into this conspiracy that Schar tried to kick out and Duran retaliated is just nonsense. Schar slid in to clear the ball and the momentum of kicking the ball away would have meant that its inevitable he just naturally turn around as he slid. Looking at the slow motion, there was no kicking action towards Duran. It was innocuous. Duran meanwhile lost balance after tangling with Schar and accidentally stud down on him. While trying to quickly get his foot away, he does an action that looks like he kicks out towards Schar's back and head. I think its just unlucky for Duran that it looks like he was kicking out even tho i think ppl can see its unintentional. The pressure from the crowd and Newcastle players prob did affect but it was very likely going to be a red unfortunately nevertheless. Also we have the aid of video replays and slowmo to watch the incident. The players doesnt and the Newcastle players think that Duran intentionally kick out at Schar. Of course they will try to protect their own. I dont think its some scheme to try to get Duran sent off. Its just unfortunate accident.
Hi While I support NUFC from Pennsylvania, US, your episode on yesterday’s match from the Villa perspective is brilliant. Obviously we have some disagreements about the reasons for the outcome but your episode was class. A great mix of facts, sarcasm, irony, structure and visuals. Best wishes for the channel's future success.
Our problem Pete is that we as a team have no answer to opponents who are swift, extremely fit, hard pressing, who pass quickly and who give us little or no time on the ball. If such teams have clinical finishers we are well and truly cooked. All opponents are now fully aware that EMI Martinez' left side is weaker than his right and they know to strike it quick and hard to his left side into his top left hand corner. In this match, even Emi seems to acknowledge that he's less skillful on the left: after surrendering the 1st goal in his top left hand corner Martinez then seems instinctively shadow his left goal side, even when the Newcastle attack is from the middle. The opponent recognizes this and puts the ball into his right goal side the next 3 consecutive occasions before reverting to scoring a 2nd goal into his top left hand corner to close out a dismal AVFC show. Unai needs to figure out a way to stop such hard pressing clinical finishing opponents or we'll finish the season in mid table.
The Holy Trinity show? AVFC? You do realise that Birmingham City fc was borne out of the Holy Trinity church up camp hill? That is how Small Heath fc became Small Heath Alliance when the football and cricket club combined.
I’m a Newcastle fan and consider my opinions fair if that had been Schar on Duran I would have expected a red the push then the rake of the studs on Schar back warrants it all day long and if you watch it back and look at Emrey’s face as he’s watching it being played back to him he sat there arms folded and the look of zero shock he knew it was a red of course he has to come out and say it wasn’t a red it was against his player as for Roger’s sorry but J7 literally caught his chest yet he dropped like prime Mike Tyson and twatted him embarrassing I get villa feel unfairly treated by the ref but trying to cheat to have a fellow professional sent of is pathetic anyway I really liked your video and can see why your channel is doing so well good luck for the rest of the season and all the best for 2025 👊💪👊
He didn't rake it dude stop the hyperbole there was no time for him to move with Schar in his run path it doesn't help that Schar hit his leg on his way down if anything it's a foul the other way I still remember when Mings got booked for a perfectly clean tackle on Saka the ref obviously thought the follow through was enough I suppose this is definitely worse then that incident from Schar just saying.
Im a geordie whos been subbed to you for years now, i just like the production quality of your videos, and being able to hear the perspective of a fan outside of the uk 👍
Frustrating, last season VAR was our friend this season the refs. Shars raised boot likely left Duran little choice , his left foot lands on Shars leg and his ankle folds horribly the next step is survival time.
Love watching fan channels after the Toon have been victorious (mainly seeking Newcastle accolades) so glad I watched yours - made me laugh out loud with your script, if you are not a writer you should be ! Brilliant watch - thank you HWTL
Hello. I am a Newcastle fan, but I enjoyed your video. I wish your channel great success. Villa is a great team, and I am sure we will both be in Europe next season. Be well my friend.
Again you say if it’s a foul then the premier league is done…..that’s today’s football and yes it’s pathetic. But if a player puts himself in that situation then he gives the Ref a choice….it happened to Schar against Southampton on the first game of the season where he got sent off from a player acting which would of got him an Oscar. Look it up….its pathetic
Ok, so i'll say this again like ive said to other Villa fans. If the sending off moment had been reversed would you be backing the Newcastle player? I doubt it, you would be saying it was a terrible foul and he deserved to go.
Newcastle have one of the best midfield of 3 in the Premier league, two Brazilians and an Italian, what's not to like, oh and Tonali isn't bad either. 😊
Mate the shushing also is shit housery. To wind up unai like it did. Once that whistle goes it’s a war! The little things add up and can make a difference to the outcome…..sometimes can bite yous in the arse like when he done it to Klopp last year when we were winning…..until 6mins from the end when they score two and beat us . But Tindal knows and laughed about it. Before we signed Gordon I hated him at Everton….but always said I’d love him if he played for us, it’s one of those situations and I can guarantee….if he was at your club yous would love him too
Huh? Good footy commentary from a USA'ian, how did this happen?? Top content fella (from a NUFC fan). Hope Villa keep pressuring the top-6 cartel, we are on similar trajectories as clubs atm.
Oh if I could turn back time... Schar did Duran up like a kipper. The raised foot to the groin was textbook. Duran saw the red mist and retaliated... Job done. Every defender will use this tactic to wind up Duran. Like Rooney v Portugal or Beckham v Argentina... find the players weakness, exploit it. It spoilt the game. A game I think we were looking pretty good in despite the early goal, until... you know what.
I’m neutral towards both sides. However I thought the sending off was the right decision . It looked like he could have avoided it but his studs showing it’s called dangerous play
He really couldn't there's only a chance if he's a pro gymnast which given the circumstances of it being split second and being hit by Schar's leg even then it's unlikely to avoid.
Despite the sending off,we have been weak at the back from day one! On our day,we can beat anyone! But we tend to get bullied by bigger teams! Newcastle can play football and are decent, but Taylor didn’t help villa with the sending off! he was too far away to see close up what happened.Players trying yo get duran sent off by surrounding the ref is disgusting.
is that why every foul committed by a newcastle player either mc`ginn or digne or whoever surrounded the referee waving imaginary cards, pathetic and that mcginn is 1 shithouse if ever there was1, diving everytime gets away with it at villa park but not at away grounds
@kevinhamilton1177 Is that why your lot committed 15 fouls, plus the one's you got away with!Taylor didn't think pulling shirts was an offence! Taylor was biased towards you lot the whole game! The Duran sending off for instance! he gave a throwing at first! until your lot surrounded him and he changed his mind! The cowards at stockley Park agreed with the ref and took no time to look at the incident! Red card, deserved or not! Proper procedure from the awful Taylor would have helped!
I've already watched the video right through I want to watch again just how you described in detail the mistakes villa did and the points as a Newcastle fan and Geordie Just brilliant
What makes durans decison worse js the brighton game incident where the player purposly tried to elbow a player but missed and doesnt get penalised. Atrocious officiating
The whole Duran moment and its result of a red card is an utter joke. The Premier League refereeing is dropping to such a low level is making me think I will soon stop watching football. The reaction by the Newcastle players was poor and the referee was completely bent out of shape in making his decision. I'm not singling Newcastle players,it's a disease under which football is generally a sinking. The referees need to get a firm grip on this, otherwise fans are going to drift away.
Rogers has a good game every once-in-a-while, but he is still raw and has a looooong way to go. So cringey to watch most of the time. I'm still not quite sure if Duran had ill-intent or not. On the one hand, he rolled his ankle as he was trying to plant for support, so there's no control over where the other foot goes. On the other hand, it's Duran...
I see the geordie bell ends are getting like the clowns from tottingham still bitter and can’t keep away bit like the the wba halfwits trying to jump on the tails even though there as irrelevant as a boil on the arse, still only a few points off the top teams and next stages of champs league so not all that bad, keep the chin up it’s still work in progress and blips will occur 🫶
The Villa away support is always loud/consistent & although I watched the game on TV with the Villa fans up in the sky"Highest tier" at St James park I could hear them throughout the match, both sets of fans home/away are top level & 100% 2 of the best fans in English football, loud & proud just as it should be..... up the mighty Villa!!! 😁⚽✌️
@BillyBufter No intent behind it and his attitude after was because he was baffled he didn't do anything wrong yet was hounded by Newcastle players looking for blood and then to be wrongly sent off on top of all that what do you expect the kid's reaction to be.
Not always we were on the up before that ridiculous decision they're a bogey team sure but that doesn't mean that couldn't all change atleast for that day
I'm pretty sure anyone thinking Duran meant to land anything on Schär has no grasp on physics. His left foot went from under him and was stumbling forward. His only intent was to not tread on Schär, as can clearly be seen by him trying to lift his right leg up to take weight off it.
To take that many steps after the ball was gone, eyes fixed on Schar the whole way, young passionate lad already agitated in the game. Yes, his left foot rolled slightly but the "stamp action" isn't because he's subconciously reacting physically to pain from it because watch the angle side on facing the east stand. Durans face never indicates shock, pain or anything. His face is totally blank. Everything tells you he knew what he was doing and wanted to hurt Schar while making it look accidental.
It was the extension of his right leg dragged upwards across schars back that turned it into a violent incident. Everything before that can be reasoned away. The knee straightening was intentional, violent, sadistic and worthy of a much longer ban. Duran tried to slice open a player with his studs. All the villa fans ignoring that final motion of Duran are lying to themselves about it not being violent.
You have a very 1 sided view of that game. Even 11 v 11 Newcastle were the better team. Sandro , Bruno and big joe bossed the midfield. I think the sending off could have gone either way but he knew what he was doing and gave the ref a decision to make so it’s on him. Then he walks off and kicks the water bottle like a petulant schoolgirl.
Enjoyed this Pete old son ! A devoted Mag here. Villa are having the same problems we had last season, only nowhere near as many injuries (We had THREE goalkeepers and juniors on subs benches for games in C.L. period for example). This game, you were lucky to get away with 3. The red card stupid but deserved. Keep Emery we went for him when he was in semi final of Champs League. Bad timing. The Saudis....we are being stopped from spending by Prem League for benefit of Liverpool Man U Chelsea Arsenal etc
Please don't feed in to the ridiculous narrative that Duran "reacted" or "retaliated" when he did no such thing. You are ignoring the fact that he turned his ankle and that's what causes his body weight to go left. Had his left foot planted correctly his right foot would have landed on turf to the right of Schar. Even still, in the instance he is trying to minimise the contact barely tapping his glut and bringing his leg over so he doesn't leg-drop on him. Unless of course, he rolled his ankle on purpose.
Laughable. His ankle doesn't go over immediately. He allowed his body to follow through in the the same direction as Schar on the floor. He couldve made a change of direction easily. He was determined to leave something on schar. Blind man on a galloping horse could see his intent and result. Is he made of jelly? He couldve negated any contact failure. He did not.
Newcastle is just a piss up day..we just no were shit there , loose and its always bounce back bullshit.. the players dont show us any different. need fresh blood.
Its a red, I knew instantly that Duran had been silly and he would walk. Very similar to Lauren James for England, remember that one. Both were not violent or dangerous, but petulant and born of frustration. Red cards all day long. Definite yellow for Gordons shirt pull. Astounded that wasn't given. Otherwise Newcastle well deserved winners. Could easily have been 4 or 5. Great vid, more swears than usual today, which was apropriate. UTV
@dennisgoatimer1079 I agree that it shouldn't be. But by the current rules, it is I'm afraid. Retaliation gets punished worse than initial offence normally. And if thats with the studs, well its game over. Red from ref, no var referral, and won't be recinded. Its a red. But hey, we move on and let's smash Brighton. UTV.
Toon fan, have subscribed so I can find you again. I like watching opposition fans takes on a game after we've played them, and I liked your delivery so I'll be back to check in later in the season after we've played you at Villa Park
Duran was in a foul mood the moment the free kick was taken from him and carried that into his performance. The skipper calls him a nightmare. I agree at the moment he is a liability admittedly a talented one UTV 💜💙
Duran rakes his studs down Schar's back.....just an accident a coming together....Joelinton flicks rogers chest screaming for a red card....give your heads a shake.
He didn't rake it at all give your head a wobble as for Morgan he saw your players do it to send Durán off so why not you cheat we cheat that's how it goes.
Newcastle fan here. I thought a yellow would have been fair, Schar catches him on the way down too. If we were going to beat Villa I'd have preferred it to be 11vs11 because it's usually a decent game.
@ you need to read the fa rules on violent conduct offences “ when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball…….regardless of whether contact is made “ in that definition from the fa joelinton was clearly worse than Duran. Joelinton meant it, it’s arguable whether Duran did
Schar didn't do anything. He made a tackle, was knocked over whilst doing so and was spinning/skidding on the ground through his momentum. He doesn't try to kick out, the contact is intiated by Duran's own forward motion. Duran moved his right foot in to step on Schar's back. He was already riled up because he wanted to take the free kick earlier. I don't think it's 100% a straight red but it gives the ref, who *HAS* to make a decision in the moment, a choice - and with VAR this season unless it is the most blatant error they won't step in.
The red card is one of those that var would not overturn the referee no matter what card he gave, shame it ruined what was a good contest and it 100% wasn’t a red but only Duran will know if it was on purpose. (Newcastle fan btw)

Newcastle fan here and really enjoyed your analysis. Subscribed and good luck for the rest of the season
Schar kicks out. Watch the great replay that is provided in this show. This time take your black and white patches off.
@@verytiredatdoingthis I know human physiology is difficult for you. Try kicking out at someone while u are on the ground.
Hi
While I support NUFC from Pennsylvania, US, your episode on yesterday’s match from the Villa perspective is brilliant.
Obviously we have some disagreements about the reasons for the outcome but your episode was class. A great mix of facts, sarcasm, irony, structure and visuals.
Best wishes for the channel's future success.
Villa lost the red card appeal
The opponent recognizes this
and puts the ball into his right goal side the next 3 consecutive occasions before reverting to scoring a 2nd goal into his top left hand corner to close out a dismal AVFC show.
He called it that due to the Trinity rd stand.
Good patter and a credible reflection of a villa supporters view on the game
The reason the referee wasn't sent to the monitor was because VAR agreed with the onfield decision, so a call to the monitor wasn't needed.
Premier league upheld the ridiculous decision. They're so incompetent, it's embarrassing
It’s physics. With JDs neck so far behind his feet that means he’s off balance. It’s that simple. Pure garbage.
Pete, AV are lucky to have you! Newcastle Fan
Excellent Analysis of that particular game 👏
Nufc fan here . Superb video . Always enjoy your Chanel. Always witty and very informative
Newcastle fan here. Great video! I think the red was harsh but we were massively on top before the red, Villa offered nothing with 11 men
You wasn't we were growing into the game looking like we would get the equaliser
@dennisgoatimer1079 hahahahahahahaha of course mate, keep drinking that copium, whatever helps you mentally
I'm Villa and sadly, agree with you. We were getting more into the game, but didn't look like creating anything.
Thought Mark Goldbridge had aged by about 20 years and started to support a new club when I saw the thumbnail 🤔 🤣🤣
if your own manager says it was avoidable that proves intent
Ok, so i'll say this again like ive said to other Villa fans. If the sending off moment had been reversed would you be backing the Newcastle player? I doubt it, you would be saying it was a terrible foul and he deserved to go.
Yes I would as that's not even a foul it's a foul the other way if anything
Newcastle have one of the best midfield of 3 in the Premier league, two Brazilians and an Italian, what's not to like, oh and Tonali isn't bad either. 😊
great content newcastle fan here hope your a Leafs fan
Mate the shushing also is shit housery. To wind up unai like it did. Once that whistle goes it’s a war! The little things add up and can make a difference to the outcome…..sometimes can bite yous in the arse like when he done it to Klopp last year when we were winning…..until 6mins from the end when they score two and beat us . But Tindal knows and laughed about it. Before we signed Gordon I hated him at Everton….but always said I’d love him if he played for us, it’s one of those situations and I can guarantee….if he was at your club yous would love him too
We get over powerd by pool and Newcastle,
Huh? Good footy commentary from a USA'ian, how did this happen??
Top content fella (from a NUFC fan). Hope Villa keep pressuring the top-6 cartel, we are on similar trajectories as clubs atm.
He's Canadian.
@@silgen Really? Didn't hear it in his accent but I suppose that explains how he has an actual sense of humour though.
@@Yungrexy It says so in the description :)
Yet your acolytes claim it was ‘accidental’
Sorry to see your Palestine naivety - get well soon.
@leejohnson3209 the "oh if I could turn back time" was totally unnecessary....I loved it.
@ can you imagine Lee Johnson on the gun barrel of a battle ship? With legs akimbo, waving his little Palestinian flag? 😂😂😂
@@somedude1666 I'm so sorry, and thank you. 😏
Finally a Newcastle fan admitting Schar Struck out at Duran. Thank You!
Proper procedure from the awful Taylor would have helped!
another NUFC fan enjoying your content 🤣🤣🤣
I've already watched the video right through I want to watch again just how you described in detail the mistakes villa did and the points as a Newcastle fan and Geordie Just brilliant
What makes durans decison worse js the brighton game incident where the player purposly tried to elbow a player but missed and doesnt get penalised. Atrocious officiating
Gotta mention Morgans pathetic attempt to get Big Joe sent off
SHHHHH, they really go for the night out, Newcastle is the best night out in England.
Happy Crimbo and new year to you and yours. Up the villa
On the other hand, it's Duran...
but its the same it was 3-0 at villa also last year also
konsa has been shit for a while.
You knacker,
Great fan video.
Yes the Geordie Bell Ends in full voice. We’ll still finish higher than them.
Fair play to the Villa fans. I sit immediately below the away fans. They were still an annoying noise in my ear to the final minute. Respect
Villas high line defending sussed.
Ray reardon moaning about studding our player .Surprised how poor Villa were..
Yeah playing with 10 men can do that to you…….
Happy not so happy Xmas Pete, that game was disgusting In so many ways, and not because we lost neither
Dude, Durans assault on Shar was a foul and deserving of a red card. If it had gone to the monitor it would have looked worse.
It was a foul the other way if anything at all fella
Yeah it's not a mystery mate!
Another toon fan here, another subscription. If this keeps up you might have more Toon subscribers than Villa ones!🙃
Duran had intent and pair that with his studs, this only has one outcome. His behaviour after the incident you failed to mention was also poor.
He didn't have intent to do that hence he was baffled fella
@ Intent all day long for me. His attitude after was ridiculous.
@BillyBufter No intent behind it and his attitude after was because he was baffled he didn't do anything wrong yet was hounded by Newcastle players looking for blood and then to be wrongly sent off on top of all that what do you expect the kid's reaction to be.
It was a red card every day.
Newcastle fan unfortunately yet again. 😅😅😅😅😅
Rodger’s getting on my nerves
He's jekyll and Hyde but hopefully Dr jekyll will overpower Mr Hyde.
Another case of 1 step forward 2 steps back hmm, keep the faith Pete. UTMV
Red or not, Newcastle were always gonna win that game.
Not always we were on the up before that ridiculous decision they're a bogey team sure but that doesn't mean that couldn't all change atleast for that day
@ Villa created absolutely nothing except from an ok free kick effort. Comfortable win for the Toon.
@marius2921 What a joke fella we were growing into the game and you know you're lucky you've got the Saudi's paying the refs off

So are we. We're playing in the Champions League.
Yeah we are happy too. Currently top 8 in the Champions League. How did Eddie Howe go last year?????
Pete, we've all got a plan until you get punched in the face!🤣
IM NOT GOIN TO LIE, I DIDNT REALIZE VILLA PLAYED WITH A MIDFIELD IN THAT GAME...
His left foot only went from under him because he’d stood on Schar. Take the claret and blue specs off and watch it again.
No grasp on physics! Mate, you have no grasp on reality.
It was reviewed after the game and the red card was not overturned. What more to do ye want? A clear red
Too many basic footballing mistakes. Over 2 goals conceded per game. Mid table form at best.
That's one sided take we were growing into the game looking likely to get an equaliser before the red card
He had no choice in the matter he had no time to change direction whatsoever
Newcastle fan here about 8mins in. Great content. You've earned my subscription.
Very good content - respect as most fan generated content is dross

I don’t follow many non Newcastle channels but you always talk a lot of sense and you are naturally very good in front of a camera.
He did not.
@@davidgould5708He really couldn't fella you know nothing

Newcastle is just a piss up day..we just no were shit there , loose and its always bounce back bullshit.. the players dont show us any different. need fresh blood.
Its a red, I knew instantly that Duran had been silly and he would walk. Very similar to Lauren James for England, remember that one. Both were not violent or dangerous, but petulant and born of frustration. Red cards all day long.
Definite yellow for Gordons shirt pull. Astounded that wasn't given. Otherwise Newcastle well deserved winners. Could easily have been 4 or 5.

Never a red
@dennisgoatimer1079 I agree that it shouldn't be. But by the current rules, it is I'm afraid.
Retaliation gets punished worse than initial offence normally. And if thats with the studs, well its game over.
Red from ref, no var referral, and won't be recinded.
Its a red. But hey, we move on and let's smash Brighton. UTV.
@kwakkadakka617 it's not a red via the rules and it wasn't retaliation either
Toon fan, have subscribed so I can find you again. I like watching opposition fans takes on a game after we've played them, and I liked your delivery so I'll be back to check in later in the season after we've played you at Villa Park
Duran was in a foul mood the moment the free kick was taken from him and carried that into his performance. The skipper calls him a nightmare. I agree at the moment he is a liability admittedly a talented one UTV 💜💙
Regardless of sending off Villa were totally outplayed.
Only after the ridiculous sending off
Duran rakes his studs down Schar's back.....just an accident a coming together....Joelinton flicks rogers chest screaming for a red card....give your heads a shake.
He didn't rake it at all give your head a wobble as for Morgan he saw your players do it to send Durán off so why not you cheat we cheat that's how it goes.
Whine, whine, whine. We've been shafted bu Anthony Taylor before. We won, you lost, GET OVER IT
Newcastle fan here. I thought a yellow would have been fair, Schar catches him on the way down too. If we were going to beat Villa I'd have preferred it to be 11vs11 because it's usually a decent game.
A yellow to Schar perhaps for the follow through never to Durán though
How can you say there was no contact, ur video proves there was contact
In talking about Duran and the inconsistency you didn’t mention the joelinton incident throwing his arm at Rogers which was every inch violent conduct
I think it's a long stretch to suggest the Joelinton incident was a red card, a yellow was enough, Duran's was never a red either,
@ you need to read the fa rules on violent conduct offences “ when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball…….regardless of whether contact is made “ in that definition from the fa joelinton was clearly worse than Duran. Joelinton meant it, it’s arguable whether Duran did
Was never a red card!
It clearly was. Reality suggests this.
@@StatazeIt really isn't a red
@dennisgoatimer1079 it literally was.
@@Stataze But it really isn't though
@dennisgoatimer1079 we'll See Duran next game then.
We have no pace in attack and central defenders who don't like defending and are to weak.
It's a huge problem
We were the better team 11v 11, it was a red card you can’t just stand on players back ffs, villa deserved nothing from that match
Both should’ve been sent off. Chat for initially kicking out. That would’ve been the fairer result.
Give your head a wobble mate
We need a brick wall built on to off the 18 yard box b4 kick off
Schar didn't do anything.
Rubbish!!!!!!
He didn't move it towards him at all any movement would be to avoid the angle of the studs.
The red card is one of those that var would not overturn the referee no matter what card he gave, shame it ruined what was a good contest and it 100% wasn’t a red but only Duran will know if it was on purpose. (Newcastle fan btw)
