Carlos was not at fault on his own, not in a country mile, but his inclusion at CB doubles the negative impact on the team as you’ve not only weakened the CB position, you’ve also weakened the RB position by playing your main CB out of position. Playing Nedelkovic only weakens 1 position and tbf that’s up for debate given his natural ability and previous UCL experience, plus if he does slip up he’ll have our main CB to mop up, not the case if Carlos does. Has to be Ned or Bogarde for me on Wednesday UTV

Trouble is, Konsa and Pau as a defensive pairing haven’t been that convincing either. Calvert Lewin caused them all sorts of trouble vs Everton. We have rarely looked solid at the back since Mings got injured. Lack of clean sheets highlights that.

For their equaliser I just knew it was coming. I could not believe Konsa would try to slip that ball in when he could have passed to Philogene. But I think Philogene kind of made Konsa's mind up not to pass to him by being timid. Philogene really has to shake off this imposter syndrome... come on kid you're blowing your big chance. Then Carlos' defending for the equaliser was even more shocking.
Ramsey really isn't close to McGinn levels. He turns it on once in a while, but not often enough. McGinn will be a big big miss for us.
Frustrating, but on to the next. Who is it again?

Atwell was awful, he gave two free kicks for Phillips simply falling/slipping over, the first one launched the attack phase that lead to the first Ipswich goal and was going to give a third but played advantage. Listening to the radio, apparently officials have decided that the Bar for a second yellow is this year now much higher than a first yellow, tbh it's always seemed a liitle higher previously, but which if true just means they are introducing further inconsistency into decisions.
Personally I think Atwell just bottled it, knowing a 2nd yellow meant sending Morsy off. He ref'd it as what used to be described as a homer. no huge decisions (except with Morsy) just lots and lots of little decisions,
But lets not let that allow us to ignore the two biggest issues we had, or that Ipswich played well and caused us problem, after all nothing happens in absolute isolation from other factors
We defended poorly, and going forward, we were pretty blunt in attack, we really didn't look threatening and it got worse once we went ahead. this was especially noticeable in transition, which was an area where we excelled last season, it wasn't about taking risks, it was often poor choice of pass and not just as typified by Konsa's before the eualiser, or turning down the easy progressive/direct /attacking pass, choosing the wrong option combined with poor movement and trying to play unnecessarily intricate in overly congested areas. agains lots of little things combining to cause a major issue. I think we could do with a soft reset in our approach as we've developed some counter productive habits that are making us less potent going forward.
overall we were fortunate not to lose, I thought this was a worse performance than Forest away last year, so I see it as a point gained. Fair play Ipswich, they appear to have the tools to give themselves every chance of staying up,

Villa came to our place with an air of superiority and got handed a lesson from a club that for 2 years defied all the doubters and pundits who said we would fall away. • @prrrromotiongiven1075
    @prrrromotiongiven1075 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    A few points re: Morsy
    1. His first yellow was quite soft which might have made the ref lean on the side of caution regarding a second yellow
    2. Saying he made no attempt to go for the ball is just not true
    3. It is not VAR's job to imply to the ref he should give a second yellow. That's just not something they ever do and it would be a serious breach of professionalism for them to have done so.
    4. You talk about the total number of fouls from Morsy, but Morgan Rogers committed just as many and didn't even see yellow! Including some pretty clear tactical fouls imo.
For the record, I think Morsy probably should have seen red! But your arguments are poor for the WHY of it.
    Good luck on Weds

Just like I said after the Wycombe game, it’s not more forward passes and through balls we packed this week, it’s fewer. It’s not needing more risk that cost us against Ipswich, it’s less. That ball from Konsa should go back, across, forever. Make them work for it. Emery would indeed say “ look what happened when we ‘went for it’. The Arsenal game at Villa Park in his first season was essentially when we all learnt how he views it, and why. And his methods have elevated us to the 4 th best side in the Country, consistently, since he arrived.

Emi makes class saves but rickets to, konsa been dodgy Carlos just not up to speed, Rogers tried to hard, missed Mcginn, Bailey poor, can't win every game so get a point play shite take that. Lots of food for thought as always!
I am inclined to agree on the total distance covered statistic. Last season we picked up tons of injuries at inconvenient times anc slowing down our attacking game is probably gonna stop us from tiring out in the second half of the season, plus we have still had an absolutely brilliant start to the season, if youre averaging 2 points a game over a youre typically finishing 4th so...looks promising.
Carlos for the second goal was god awful. He didnt get goalside enough and then gets done by a step over by somebody im pretty sure has slower feet than dumbo. It was terrible.

Paul Scholes amazed by Aston Villa player against Ipswich despite 2-2 draw

Bailey has had a stop-start few weeks after picking up an injury before the recent international break.
But Paul Scholes wanted to give the 27-year-old his flowers after he recorded his first assist of the campaign.
Rather than cross with his left foot, Bailey played an outswinger with his right and it was brilliantly headed home by Watkins.
Scholes stated ‘you don’t see that often these days’ as he praised Bailey for going old-school, as he told Premier League Productions (29/09/24 at 2:55 pm).
Leon Bailey’s assist for Ollie Watkins’ goal
“Yeah, it’s a great ball,” said Scholes about Bailey’s assist. “You don’t see that often these days, he crosses from the right or the left and it’s actually whipped in away.
