Hello,I hope all is well. I am truly impressed with this Trike. Haolongggood has become one of my favorite companies. The sculpture, paint application, and design are excellent. Not to mention affordability for such quality. My new favorite in my collection.
Thank you very much! Just had my dental implants in and the pain is finally gone, thanks for asking! This is truly a masterpiece and I don't use that word lightly. It has a perfect package of sculpt, paint application, scientific accuracy (at least in proportions and minus the speculative keratinous features), and price.... the perfect choice for most people! I am sure you will notice that in hand, yours will look a lot better than in any video. Good choice!
Not only do I think this is Haolonggood's best figure, but I think this surpasses all the competition and is the definitive Triceratops figure on the market, currently. I love the compromise here between a fully cheeked and no cheeks look for the genus. It seems far more plausible than the completely cheekless look on PNSO's figure, in my opinion, while also not going for the more mammalian cheek look that we have seen in the past. Fantastic model and lets hope its a sign of things to come from Haolonggood.
Well said! The compromise is one that will be palatable to all, and having the mouth closed to give us nothing definitive was a smart move. As was the resistance to the temptation of making the jaw articulated!
I have the PNSO triceratops (one of my favorite figures) and the Schleich one (the one with red lines on the spine and frills) but I have always been interested in having the Yoshi specimen. The Eofauna one is beautiful. The Haolonggood one is more than beautiful. As an anecdote, a few days ago I was telling a youtuber that I looked at her videos and those of other youtubers to make my purchases. She thanked me and told me that it was just a hobby and that there were other youtubers who made much more professional reviews. She was definitely referring to you 😂
Lol thank you but I wouldn't dare make such a claim! But I really do have a love for dinosaurs and a love for learning about the science as an adult in a way I could never have done as a kid, and I'm really excited to share my little knowledge with fellow collectors who would care. Thanks for your support! 😁
This figure blows my mind, it's literally a dreamworthy. The quality of the sculpture, the painting and especially the variety of textures that you mentioned leaves me speechless. I have never been so impressed by a massproduced dinosaur model. Usually I settle for one color variant for Haolonggood figures but this is the first time where I hesitate to get both because I'm so amazed. I have never been so happy to consider Triceratops my favorite dinosaur. Thank you for your video which does perfect justice to the quality of this model and which is still as pleasant and informative as usual, keep it up !
Thank you for your kind words! I do my best to point out detail so that people can appreciate their own models even more, or to help them make a decision. Unfortunately my green got delayed, but whicever one you get, I am sure you would be extremely happy with it!
What a pleasant surprise. I think this is the best Haolonggood figure up to date. And this is one of the best figures that came out this year. Hopefully, I will get the chance to buy this someday. Thank you so much, my dear sir. You are the best. 🖤
Thank you for your support as always! Well, as it turns out, I actually had the green but it got separated, and as a result I couldn't compare that here. Both are really good, and if I had to choose I would go for the green. But the grey really has a lot of detail that was surprisingly harder to see in the green. What I love most about this one is how minute the scales are, in the limbs especially. Find it strange to 'spoil' it with those huge frill features.

So, the brief HLG videos of their upcoming Argentinosaurus are amazing. This is the sauropod to knock everything else off the shelf. There will be four color variants, two of which I’m itching to buy. Don’t know what the final price point will be but if it’s in line with the current up scaling of larger figures, it should still be very affordable for what it looks to be. Looking forward to your take on it but I’m already sold.
Well I was sold immediately, but then the ridiculous hard part is the crazy and frankly, lousy representations of colour HLG has shown us in different media. It is so hard to decide which to get, and then praying that it will come out right. I hope that it will be worth the cost, and for many of you, the shipping!
This was such a great surprise from Haolongood. I wonder if we will get more surprises before the end of the year. I wish they would release an Anchiceratops, or an Arrhinoceratops. There are many obscure species that I’d love for them, and PNSO to add to their collections.
Considering it's very near the end of the year, I don't think they would. Supposedly, they still have Einiosaurus and Styracosaurus to clear, not to mention that brachiosaurid. I believe it would be hard to top the Argentinosaurus though!
The figure itself is seems to be heavily inspired by David Krentz “Uncle Beazley” Triceratops, they essentially have the same pose, both feature tortoiseshell like scales over the frill and are based on the same specimen.
I honestly like this a lot better than Doyle. The more active pose and a lot of the details in the head really sell this one for me. Yeah, the large frill scales and keratinized face are a little weird, but they don’t take away from the beauty of this figure.
I like the green one better I don’t know why and yeah Yoshi trike specimen is a subadult. There both adult versions of the Yoshi trike hypothetic they also have an adult Yoshi specimen in prehistoric planet
This seems to me like a Yoshi type Triceratops _sp_ for sure, and in my latest video I show that the age of the subadult would be different for the EoFauna, based on the epiossifications 😁
Watched this vid a couple of times. The HLG Triceratops, other than the facial keratin and the over large frill scales, is damn good. I’ll probably get the grey just cuz the paint looks more cohesive and the horn stippling was a big selling point-that’s a great application. As to PNSO’s “updated” Doyle, it never grew on me. The old Doyle was a pretty good, dynamic figure. The update, with its lowered horns, doesn’t seem quite right for a few reasons but most notably, the horns seem to perilously dip down compared to the direction of the horns on the actual skull. They just seem….annoying. Probably just me but they look wrong.
The old Doyle was certainly more dynamic, and I believe would appeal to many more people. There is a trend in the more scientifically-focussed people to start to move towards more day-in-the-life poses as we recognize them more and more as living animals. Unfortunately, this won't be as viscerally satisfying and might even be downright boring. As for the horns, I definitely still prefer more 'traditional' depictions, such as in the old Doyle. But as more ideas on this have surfaced over the years, I'm less confident of how these horns could have grown over the bone core. The bone core still plays a huge starting role of course.
@@DinosDragons Totally on board with your thinking. A horn core can only tell us so much. My feelings of the updated Doyle might be a little too much “me” but I still feel, looking at the skull and angle of the horns, as PNSO molded their take, the horns seem a little dislocated and downward facing almost to the point of being a visual distraction to the animal. My last poke at this. They just seem, as before, wrong. I will look at more recovered available specimens and let this dog lie. As always, your videos and insights, presentations of more in depth data beyond the normal “what a cool figure” reviews and breakdowns are the best.
Stunning. Haolonggood really producing some top tier figures, and the price of this is great. I just wish they could improve their consistency as their figures are not all of the same standard. The just released xenoceratops is no where near the same quality as this one.
It's interesting... I didn't expect the poor reception Xenoceratops received. But I do get that there is some inconsistency. Most obviously in the fineness of the scales. EIther it's a deliberate choice or it's two different teams. I love all of them though! 😁😁
I'm an avid PNSO fan but this is the point where I truly feel Haolonggood have surpassed PNSO in quality. If it keeps going like that I may have to swap my collection.
I think it's good to be fluid and not locked into one or switch completely. But I have to honestly say that for my Western viewers, HLG makes a lot of sense cost-wise. For the quality of sculpt, paint applications, more interesting patterns, and price, HLG is my recommendation for most people at least for the *herbivores*
This is a real contender to PNSO Trike. Head looks great, especially the non-articulated mouth. Only thing they can improve is the paintjob. The stripes often look a little too casual.
I think it's pretty funny how Haolonggood Ceratopsidae always looks good, while other groups look way cheaper. This and Pachyrhinosaurus are my favorites.
while Imo the haloongood triceratops is more appealing to look at, if we go by accuracy I would say the eofauna's yoshis trike and arguably the pnso doyle 2021 still takes the cake. either way these models are fantastic and depends on the buyer's preference on which one they want. great vids as always
I sure hope not! But then again, Dr Witton makes a lot of sense in his reasoning, so who knows. I just hope that I can still retain the fantasy that at least ONE ceratopsian could fight in a reasonable way!
Another great review but u sure they’re based on yoshis trike I think it’s a different specimen like lane because the frill looks bigger than with is based off yoshi but u could use it as a regular adult trike I guess?
@shawntorres9299 You definitely could! Even now, there's no consensus on what Yoshi is. From all my reading I realise that the ceratopsians were far more variable in morphology than I would have imagined.
its indeed a very beautiful figure i like how giant and bulky it is, what i want from a triceratops i just wont buy it cuz i dont want to buy same species, i have the pnso already and im satisfied with it because although the specimen its reconstructed after is debated weather its torosaurus or triceratops horridus, its reconstructed as the latter so it is the latter, and other specimens like big john have an incredibly similar appearance, even down to the frill shape both are very similarly square, biggest difference between that and big john is the horn shape but ceratopsians can have a lot of individual variation so both the frill and horn difference can fall into that and when it comes specifically to the head integument like the scales i like the finer style of the pnso more and honestly the tighter skin that doesnt make up for cheeks is a style i quite like, since there is no definitive answer if that jaw muscle was visible like a lizard or covered with tight skin like in crocodiles or just normal skin covering it like birds though if i didnt have it i would probably consider this haolonggood version probably, speaking of which what species is it? if its based on yoshi's trike, what species is that specimen?
I believe it is inspired by Yoshi and hence a Yoshi-type triceratops. As far as I know, Yoshi is still currently designed as Triceratops _sp_ so there is no definite official name for it yet. Some think it's a transitonary species, others think it's one of the other two. Considering how much keratinous horns might build up around the horn core, that's not enough to separate species. So we really need an official full paper out on it.
Can't understand how someone can prefer the PNSO face. That is the biggest issue with the PNSO triceratops - the face looks off, the mouth articulation makes the mouth look hideous and the mouth opening much too large. Compared to the much better HLG, the eyes of the PNSO make the face expression goofy and retarded looking.
Those frill "scales" are extremely off putting to me. Such a shame as it really is a lovely figure, but I'll stick with Eofauna's interpretation of Yoshi's Trike. Gah, just can't get past that frill, what were they thinking?
I’m really not sure. Given how accurate haolonggood tend to be, I’m not sure why they’d make such a big change. I’m wondering if there’s some new research out there or if it’s just speculation
@joshuavis2736 That's what I'm wondering! I might have missed a paper here and there, and was hoping the viewers might shed some light. It seems like a strange choice to practise such imagination with a highly important flagship dinosaur like Triceratops!
This Triceratops has many improvements compared to other ceratopsians from Haolonggood. For example, the rich details of the sculpt, correct manus, better eyes, very nice paint application and a dynamic pose. But these large scales or whatever they are on the frill unfortunately ruin this model, not least because they feature so prominently. Taking everything together, the PNSO (new Doyle) is still better and for T. prorsus the De Clay studio resin model is the best one out there.
Unfortunately, the De Clay would be way out of the reach of most collectors. I love their T Rex, but unfortunately I wasn't comfortable with the forelimbs of their Triceratops, especially the lateral unguals of the hand. I just released a way overdue video comparing the PNSO and HLG more directly. The large scales on the frill are unfortunate, and to a lesser degree, the keratin in the prefrontal area. And for some sadly, will be just too glaring to overlook. But overall, considering the price of PNSO, and everything else, I believe most people would do well with the HLG.
I do not buy any dinosaur figures until i see your review. Thanks.

Yeah, triceratops horns were not curl like the Mark witton artwork 2:26
I sure hope not! But then again, Dr Witton makes a lot of sense in his reasoning, so who knows. I just hope that I can still retain the fantasy that at least ONE ceratopsian could fight in a reasonable way!
Another great review but u sure they’re based on yoshis trike I think it’s a different specimen like lane because the frill looks bigger than with is based off yoshi but u could use it as a regular adult trike I guess?
Yeah, that's not Yoshi.
@shawntorres9299
You definitely could! Even now, there's no consensus on what Yoshi is. From all my reading I realise that the ceratopsians were far more variable in morphology than I would have imagined.
its indeed a very beautiful figure i like how giant and bulky it is, what i want from a triceratops
i just wont buy it cuz i dont want to buy same species, i have the pnso already and im satisfied with it because although the specimen its reconstructed after is debated weather its torosaurus or triceratops horridus, its reconstructed as the latter so it is the latter, and other specimens like big john have an incredibly similar appearance, even down to the frill shape both are very similarly square, biggest difference between that and big john is the horn shape but ceratopsians can have a lot of individual variation so both the frill and horn difference can fall into that and when it comes specifically to the head integument like the scales i like the finer style of the pnso more and honestly the tighter skin that doesnt make up for cheeks is a style i quite like, since there is no definitive answer if that jaw muscle was visible like a lizard or covered with tight skin like in crocodiles or just normal skin covering it like birds
though if i didnt have it i would probably consider this haolonggood version probably, speaking of which what species is it? if its based on yoshi's trike, what species is that specimen?
I believe it is inspired by Yoshi and hence a Yoshi-type triceratops. As far as I know, Yoshi is still currently designed as Triceratops _sp_ so there is no definite official name for it yet. Some think it's a transitonary species, others think it's one of the other two. Considering how much keratinous horns might build up around the horn core, that's not enough to separate species. So we really need an official full paper out on it.
나도 회색으로 주문했다 회색이 예쁘다
The grey is much nicer than I thought it would be! I prefer the green, but I am very happy to have the grey as well!
Thank goodness --- no quills!
Yes... if they had to add something speculative, I'd much rather it be keratin on the face than quills in the ass!
i prefer HLG body shape, but pnso's face and horns look cooler imo
Can't understand how someone can prefer the PNSO face. That is the biggest issue with the PNSO triceratops - the face looks off, the mouth articulation makes the mouth look hideous and the mouth opening much too large. Compared to the much better HLG, the eyes of the PNSO make the face expression goofy and retarded looking.
If only we could create our own amalgamation from different figures!
This is so goat'd!!!
Indeed! It's going to be _very hard_ to beat!
The body is perfect a shame on the choices made in the face but still a great figure
Yes it really is quite puzzling! Artistic licence I guess, but overall, still a solid WOW!
