First I saw in any of these videos that looked like he spent more time developing is brains than his biceps. Refreshing. And he was appropriately modest dealing with Anthony. I mean Anatoly.
I love the way he slightly bows his head and extends his arm, with his palm up, pointing to the bench (& with that *purely* appreciative smile), the gesture saying, IF YOU ARE GOING TO TEACH, I AM HERE TO LEARN, *SIR*!! You can tell this guy has tons more brains than everybody else in these gyms, because he automatically jumps at the chance to learn something, & with PURE APPRECIATION. Essentially I’m only rehashing what everybody else has said (“amazing humility”), but the *nuances* of how this guy automatically respects Anatoly, REGARDLESS OF THE UNIFORM, and welcomes the opportunity to learn, really is so remarkable. And on the subject of “regardless of the uniform”: this guy also, unlike all the muscle jocks in the gym, barely even takes any notice of superficial things, seeing 100% RIGHT PAST THEM. It’s really a breathtaking moment, showing just how vastly different people can be in this way.
Vladimir Shmondenko a.k.a "Anatoly" is an ex-elite powerlifter, not a bodybuilder. also putting him under natural status is really naive, and don't get me wrong. I'm not saying this to belittle his achievements and powers. he's strong as an ant and seems like a good guy too, but let's keep reality involved in this.
Anatoly's performance isn't simply about his strength and technique. Watch how he stands while holding the dumbbells. His legs are very relaxed (what we call 'free' in Alexander technique). You'll see there's no strain or downward pull toward the ground as he moves into the upright. Of course muscles are moving against gravity, but he's not generating excessive tension which would have the effect of restricting, not helping him move upward against gravity. Because the body functions as a totally interdependent unit, you can't have free legs without also having free muscles everywhere else (though of course this is relative to the demand being applied to lifting the weights). Such freedom - which everyone can learn - enables him to do what he does in such an efficient and effective way. In Alexander technique we call this 'good use'. Most people are interfering with this natural inbuilt mechanism and are habitually imposing far too much muscular contraction which, ironically is counter-productive. But that tendency can be unlearned, leaving freedom and the ability to apply only the minimum of effort required to perform any activity - even activity such as lifting heavy weights. The key is applying a minimum of force sufficient to perform the task ... and no more than is needed. In that way the energy being generated is directed to the task (in this case lifting the weights) rather than distorting the body form and putting pressure on joints and ligaments. There is a minimum of force required to lift a teacup and a minimum force required to lift weights or fell a tree. The amount you need to generate is a function of the task to be performed, your bodily awareness and learning how NOT to impose what you THINK you need. You can never KNOW how much you need, but your brain will tell you once you learn to put aside your preconceptions (based on your habits) and PAY ATTENTION as the load comes on. Alexander teacher
Everybody in here missing the fact tgis guy is a begginer, no 'roids, just a sponge willing to learn and appreciating that greatness passed by. Anatoly sold a course to him that day I'm sure.

The reality is tough for him. So tough that he had to touch his chest and his head 😅
