There some songs that I can get the harmony for instantly. This is not one of them. Thank you so much for your great work. My congregation and my co-worship leader this Sunday will be unknowingly thankful for it 😂
VERSE 1 In the darkness we were waiting Without hope without light Till from heaven You came running There was mercy in Your eyes To fulfil the law and prophets To a virgin came the Word From a throne of endless glory To a cradle in the dirt CHORUS Praise the Father Praise the Son Praise the Spirit three in one God of glory Majesty Praise forever to the King of Kings VERSE 2 To reveal the kingdom coming And to reconcile the lost To redeem the whole creation You did not despise the cross For even in Your suffering You saw to the other side Knowing this was our salvation Jesus for our sake You died VERSE 3 And the morning that You rose All of heaven held its breath Till that stone was moved for good For the Lamb had conquered death And the dead rose from their tombs And the angels stood in awe For the souls of all who’d come To the Father are restored VERSE 4 And the Church of Christ was born Then the Spirit lit the flame Now this gospel truth of old Shall not kneel shall not faint By His blood and in His Name In His freedom I am free For the love of Jesus Christ Who has resurrected me

Thanks! You know what, I have an arrangement of Be Thou My Vision in the works right now! I'm actually really looking forward to posting it. It's one of my favorite hymns. I'll have the sheet music written out for it as well. Stay tuned! :D
If I were singing this in the key of a, would the harmony still work the same, where the alto is the fifth of the chord starting on "E" in the key of a, the tenor melody on the third starting on "C#" and the melody on the root "a"? It is frustrating trying to find the music or recording to practice the harmony in a different key from the original, transpose it in my head. I am singing this on Easter with the praise leader (a guy) singing the lead with ladies (like myself) singing the harmony. I am probably singing the tenor although who knows because the person I am singing with always sings high, so she may sing the high part you demonstrated and i may end up jumping up to alto.
Good question. Yes, you can use these same harmonies, but since you'll be transposing up a 5th, they will be much higher. It should work just fine, though. You are correct about the pitches... tenor would be a third above the melody and alto a 5th above the melody (generally speaking). Since you'll be singing this song in a tenor key (A major). Then, it would work great for both you and the other lady were to sing the two harmonies above it. Thus the tenor harmony (in my video) would be in the alto range and the alto harmony would be in a soprano range. I always encourage all the singers on our worship team to know all the harmony parts so that people can easily hop back and forth between them. It's a good practice... and it's fun. :)
Perfect thanks so much for your reply! I recorded all three parts separately using an acapella app on my phone and played it back; it sounds right to me. :) God bless and thank you so much! :)

VERSE 1
In the darkness we were waiting
Without hope without light
Till from heaven You came running
There was mercy in Your eyes
To fulfil the law and prophets
To a virgin came the Word
From a throne of endless glory
To a cradle in the dirt
CHORUS
Praise the Father
Praise the Son
Praise the Spirit three in one
God of glory
Majesty
Praise forever to the King of Kings
VERSE 2
To reveal the kingdom coming
And to reconcile the lost
To redeem the whole creation
You did not despise the cross
For even in Your suffering
You saw to the other side
Knowing this was our salvation
Jesus for our sake You died
VERSE 3
And the morning that You rose
All of heaven held its breath
Till that stone was moved for good
For the Lamb had conquered death
And the dead rose from their tombs
And the angels stood in awe
For the souls of all who’d come
To the Father are restored
VERSE 4
And the Church of Christ was born
Then the Spirit lit the flame
Now this gospel truth of old
Shall not kneel shall not faint
By His blood and in His Name
In His freedom I am free
For the love of Jesus Christ
Who has resurrected me
👍
