Yeah I'm also I curious. I suspect tho that if the land is too small to set aside space for ponds, that you'll just add the features that recharge the ground water and hope enough get stored to last the summer.

This seems to be a mishmash of permacuture words and concepts. Those canals between the trees are not swales. Water is flowing through them, which means one side is higher than the other i.e. not on contour.
