- Gwyndolin's boss fight was made in a unusual way, which is why there is a cutscene every time that you fight Gwyndolin.
If you are summoned by someone to fight Gwyndolin, you will see a short cutscene of your character's phantom entering the fog.
The important thing I learned from this is Gwyndolin has a walking animation and he uses his snake legs to slither...

how interesting. I always thought it was a trick similar to the infinite staircase in super mario 64, it teleports you very slightly back when you hit a certain trigger. then I remembered, oh it's fromsoft, they don't know about compaction.
Another thing, is it possible to reach the end in normal gameplay? I wonder how many cycles it takes to reach that point.

The big difference is that in SM64 it's not a boss battle, so you only have one and not two entities that you have to somehow simultaneously teleport backwards without it being perceptible.
+Vagrant 2 or more, I don't see a way that teleporting the player back would work with phantoms.
I thought this boss room design was way more complex than what it actually is. My first guess was that the room was infinite and they somehow had managed to make you loop through it seemlessly. I'm a bit disappointed to see that it is simply a very very long corridor... :(

I always assumed that the cutscene was there because the player was teleported to another version of the area where it was much larger, and that the ending cutscene was them being returned.

Fun fact: the dark version of the boss room is MUCH shorter, it seems, it only took me about 6 minutes to reach the end while constantly dodging, hiding and healing.

yeah kinda gimmicky that they can't actually pull out the trick without teleporting you at that time. so they hide they're teleportation with cutscene so there'll at least some loading time after fog wall

Do you think you can make the whole game inverted? For an example: When you spawn in firelink shrine the stairs to undeadburg is to the left instead of right, and frampts altar is to the right. But I could imagine it's hard to flip the whole map like that.
