Why was it every other Sunday? I guess I am so used to (when I watched TV) to count on seeing British comedy every Sunday night. They probably still play As Time Goes By as they have for years, decades even. Then there was The Vicar of Dibley (a personal favorite), Keeping Up Appearances, Moone Boy, IT Crowd, Spy and many others.
A shame PBS came out on regular TV once they went digital, with a channel specific for kids, while still having kids programing most of the day on the regular PBS channel and not have a British Comedy channel set up for that purpose. The arts and crafts/travel channel was kind neat though.

Sandra Jovic it was just an observation not an insult. As people get older their skin sags. Happens to a lot of people. Baggy eyes sagging skin and neck waddles are a fact of life.
It makes plastic surgeons a lot of money due to vanity. Check into how many younger people have botox injections due to their vanity.

I can still watch this after over 40 years, and still find this as funny as the first time I seen it. Must admit that they should have never replaced Mr Grainger as they were never as good as Mr Grainger, but it was still enjoyable anyway...

It Pays To Advertise was his last show. He died 6 weeks after his wife, in Sept. Of 1972. She had been sick for a while and his last episodes he was suffering from depression. They had been married for over 50 years.

I 100% agree. Yes Mr Grainger was better in my opinion, but Mr Goldberg was quite the delight as well. On TH-cam there are so few videos of AYBS, especially after Brit Box came out. But I recall another older gentleman who was supposedly famous for mens shoes for an episode or two as well.

Did you know that Alfie Bass (Mr. Goldberg) actually had a very small part in the James Bond movie Moonraker? In Venice, he played the hobo who coughs and throws away a cigarette when he walks on a bridge and an open coffin passes beneath him.
