The incident in Tenerife and the two eye injuries took a lot out of Kell. Having seen the way he moved prior to the Tenerife incident compared with the way he moved after, it looked like there was a change in his range of motion. He still had spring in his legs, he still had energy and stamina - but the way he moved in for his attacks changed. Kell had an odd stance at times when he attacked from certain angles. When Kell was creating angles, he used to take a very long sideways step with one leg, throw his shots then use that long leg to pivot out from while other fighters tend to shuffle. It seemed to give Kell the ability to get his shots in and have a solid base to both get low and out of the direct line of fire while using that platform to swivel out effortlessly. After the leg injury, that stance changed. It was still there to some degree, but it seemed he couldn't get as wide prior to punching and couldn't get as low before pivoting out. I think this cost him against GGG. Contrary to popular opinion, I feel Kell was HIGHLY competitive in that fight. Kell had moments in every round where he forced GGG to go backwards - and I'd rarely seen GGG take back-steps for anything other than re-setting himself. GGG may never admit it, but it looked to me like Kell was hurting him every time he threw with power - maybe not enough to knock him out, but enough to make him cautious. I wonder if Kell's movement was hampered as I suggested above - and if Kell moving the way he did prior to his leg injury would have had that extra fraction of a second, or extra few centimeters in his duck to have avoided some of the punches GGG landed with? Finally - Kell, I know that you're bored since you retired and you have the itch to do it again, but mate there's no need. Settling the score with Khan in dramatic style is the perfect send-off. Take your knowledge, drive and boredom and channel it into ushering in the next fighter off the ranks. Sorry mate can see you’ve put a lot of effort into this but the point regarding if kell could duck a couple cm more….. You need to understand ggg would have just adjusted where he throws 😂
@@funnyfaces3849 -Hey, you disagree - fair enough. My point was to say that small margins can make a HUGE difference in boxing as we've seen over many years. A fraction of a second quicker into a pivot, an extra half an inch in a duck, a tiny bit more thrust from a leg into a punch can seem like nothing items, but can make a huge difference. Could GGG adjust the angle of his punches? Sure, of course he could - but would the power be the same with a trajectory change? That would be unknown unless it happened. GGG throws his power shots with a very unique trajectory. His hooks start out looking like they'll be a looping overhand, but then turn into a chopping motion. Would that chopping motion be as effective and powerful if it had to travel a different path? All speculation as it didn't happen - but Simon asked Kell directly if he felt the leg injury had a major impact on him after recovery. I feel it did - and I wonder if he had the mobility he showed before, if he would have been caught with as many clean shots as both GGG and Spence hit him with that ultimately caused the eye injuries.
Good roundup but disagree with him being competitive with GGG. This was GGG in his pomp and indeed Kell was getting through and landing. But take a look at GGGs bouts during that period, even in his pomp, he always gets hit, quite full on. It was not uncommon for GGGs opponents to have success. But he then got destroyed. After the stabbing he was still a notable fighter and I know Eddie gets a lot of flak but the fighter makes the decision, but there's no way he should've taken GGG. It messed his career

Great to see Kell working at the highest level. Great guest and proper down to earth lad very honest, a great champion who should have been marketed better
Love the series and all the guests so far, but without doubt the best are the boxers. There’s just a rawness and realness to them that I don’t think other sportsmen and women can match. The authenticity of the sport is unmatched for me.
Jordan has this confrontational manner, which is nice applied sparingly, but overall it’s not conducive to flow. If Jordan had adopted a more relaxed approach it could have been smoother and better, rather than feeling awkward and clunky. I felt like he needed to guide the ship more rather than pull it out of the water and reset it which he appeared to do so throughout. His questions seemed to be too long and overcomplicated. I get what he’s trying to do, he’s trying to ask questions that maybe no one else has asked to obviously create compelling content. But sometimes less is more.
Kell was a top class elite fighter. Completely underrated. Same has froch. Both class acts. Saying that it worries me kell is thinking of making a comeback
Good interview. I like that when Simon has guests who are not the most eloquent he answers the questions for them which then results in them agreeing with him or paraphrasing him. I have no problem with that
How do you interview fighters with this level of disrespect, talking about levels, you got outclassed, respect the people who come on your show and line your pocket
One of the most honest and insightful interviews I've ever heard from a professional boxer. Kal saying it felt like he was on death row waiting to be executed before he came out. I'd like to know if Kell having a speech impediment and the inevitable bullying he will of had to suffer at school made him angry and want to fight 🤔. Alot of boxers seem to have speech impediments Tyson, Holmes, Thurman, Eubank, Benn to name a but a few.
Kell Brook was one hell of a fighter throughout the 2010’s & his win in America over Porter definitely doesn’t get the credit it deserves, one of the best away wins by any Brit in boxing history under the circumstances, just look at what Porter went on to do & who he beat. It was just a pity a prime Kell didn’t get to face off in big unification fights against Thurman & Garcia around that time because he had the tools to beat them all & go down as an all time British great, superb interview..
Kelly’s problem was partying , he did it very openly … god knows how he never got caught And yes I’ve seen him in Ecclesfield doing it ! Please god don’t come out of retirement, boxing is a dangerous sport ❤
Be proud Kell, you fought Golovkin when the world avoided him, including Eubank. You stepped up as a smaller man and performed so well that it instilled some other fighters with enough confidence to consider fighting him. You came back so well against Khan and closed that long-standing argument. I would fight Benn if I were you, you'll walk through him, you're a better fighter than Eubank but you're giving up an unfair size disadvantage.
He didn't close the door with Khan. That fight was waaaaaay past its sell by date and way too late. Khan was washed at that point. Prime for Prime Kell may still have won, but Khan would have been way better
Kell is a true legend of British boxing took a fight with the scariest man in boxing at the time when Eubank and BJS wouldn’t walk the walk and took the fight to try and become legendary and even took a on a young hungry lion a few months later instead of dropping a belt shame belts don’t mean as much any more… and finally beat his arch rival in emphatic fashion… love to see him get at least 1 more pay day and big win to sign off and truly move on his life and live happily ever after

Great interview, I would love to see the full unedited version. Kell looks like he’s still struggling to adapt, hopefully he can find peace outside of the ring. What a fantastic skilful boxer, he would beat Benn or Eubank Jn even now
Good interview and brilliant fighter, one of the most complete British fighters ever and if his career had been managed better think he would be right up there in peoples estimations. Khan never would have beaten him
Another great guest! One boxer that I always went out my way to watch and fearless. Anyone that is willing to go all against GGG or Crawford is worthy of every last respect. The Spence fight was just bad luck not ability. I never thought Spence was better than Kell and I still don't. My bet was on Kell and it was just bad luck with the eye but I got my bet back when Spence fought Crawford so its all good lol. I think Kell has got 1 or 2 more British fights left in him and I would love to see Brook V Eubank!

Honest interview-
Warrior💯! Absolute gentleman. 👏🏻
Respect for praising and crediting his father and mentor - Terry - Top G
Best one yet by a mile! Great kid kell brook like.
great to hear from Kell, proper honest interview 👊
Love kell brook what a guy he is so likeable and what a warrior
Respect to Kell Brooke, thanks for sharing your story with us all 👊🏽
Kell was a top class elite fighter. Completely underrated. Same has froch. Both class acts. Saying that it worries me kell is thinking of making a comeback
Elite? Never.
Levels. Never were more true words said about Brook- Crawford. None the less Brook has had a great career.
The more I think about it, the more I think that Crawford is probably the best boxer of his generation, absolutely frightening talent that lad has.
I’m from sheffield so might be biased but this one is my favourite so far, done sheffield proud Kell with all the ups and down, champion 👌
Big up kell brook. One of the boys 👍👍
Always thought Brook would beat Khan. Great episode, Kell’s honesty and vulnerability makes the interview work.
Love Kell Brook, great, classy fighter. Very good interview. Thanks Up Front team.
This podcast made Simon learn something and most importantly so did I
Kell Brook was one hell of a fighter throughout the 2010’s & his win in America over Porter definitely doesn’t get the credit it deserves, one of the best away wins by any Brit in boxing history under the circumstances, just look at what Porter went on to do & who he beat. It was just a pity a prime Kell didn’t get to face off in big unification fights against Thurman & Garcia around that time because he had the tools to beat them all & go down as an all time British great, superb interview..
Love the show look forward to it each week Simon always asks the questions others don’t
Kelly’s problem was partying , he did it very openly … god knows how he never got caught
And yes I’ve seen him in Ecclesfield doing it !
Kell is a true legend of British boxing took a fight with the scariest man in boxing at the time when Eubank and BJS wouldn’t walk the walk and took the fight to try and become legendary and even took a on a young hungry lion a few months later instead of dropping a belt shame belts don’t mean as much any more… and finally beat his arch rival in emphatic fashion… love to see him get at least 1 more pay day and big win to sign off and truly move on his life and live happily ever after
Great to listen to Kell’s story and top interview Simon - you gotta get Amir Khan and David Haye on at some point soon would love you to interview those too - oh and a rugby league great too - as I’m keep asking 😂
A rugby league player who has crossed over to union. I'd like hear their thoughts. Especially of the coaches who were rugby league greats. Such as Farrell, Edwards or Sinfield
Great interview kels an honest kid and still good
Thanks for this. I love Kell but he finds it hard to open up early on. Great interview Simon and keep your head up Brook you are a legend
Great interview, I would love to see the full unedited version.
Kell looks like he’s still struggling to adapt, hopefully he can find peace outside of the ring.
What a fantastic skilful boxer, he would beat Benn or Eubank Jn even now
Surprised to hear kel say he wasn't into football because when he fought Spence he said it means a " lifelong dream to fight at bramhill lane"
I feel for Kell. Don’t let this joke humiliate you. Stay strong stay sober. Your a success, what would Brendan say, ‘You did alright son, thank God’.
Kell v Eubank. ? What a fight ! This needs to be made this year !!!!!
Poor from Simon! He spoke to Kell with utter disrespect because he knew academically he could. Class from Kell
Simon was like a Jedi master the way he was getting Kell to repeat what he said.
Great episode
Great episode and no nonsense questions , always loved kell as a fighter
Good interview and brilliant fighter, one of the most complete British fighters ever and if his career had been managed better think he would be right up there in peoples estimations. Khan never would have beaten him
Another great guest! One boxer that I always went out my way to watch and fearless. Anyone that is willing to go all against GGG or Crawford is worthy of every last respect. The Spence fight was just bad luck not ability. I never thought Spence was better than Kell and I still don't. My bet was on Kell and it was just bad luck with the eye but I got my bet back when Spence fought Crawford so its all good lol. I think Kell has got 1 or 2 more British fights left in him and I would love to see Brook V Eubank!
good honest answers in this interview, salute to top british fighter going around the world representing
"Give belt up". Proper South Yorkie
I watched kels career & he should be proud of what he achieved ! I hope he comes to peace with himself though , as it can destroy anyone
Let's hope fight gets made if brook trains hard he's still a formidable force
This was great and also the funniest last few sentences of any interview ever. "I'd like to beat him up" "I'd like to see you beat him up" LOL
Blair from Canada here.....Q; Were you Two having a moment right there at the end? Honest to god...Simon was making googley eyes at Kell, and Kell was Blushing. it actually reminded me of when my first "real" girlfriend asked me to beat up her brother. Kell, Can you beat up Chris for me? lol...Anyhow...Whatever blows your hair back. Great podcast as usual.
I like Kell Brook , nice guy . Hope he can now give something back to the community and get young kids involved in sports / discipline
Good lad Kell , you made sheffield proud , was a warrior achieved your dream of been world champion, not many can say that, wish you all the best in your future , from your neighbouring councill Estate at shiregreen , sheffield , all the best pal
Simon is always very quick to jump in to say if he knows someone
Big respect to Simon Jordan as he's just come on the boxing scene but has obviously been a fan of boxing most of his life, he's not afraid to look boxers in the eye and ask them the questions that all these social media platforms wont ask... And he's not afraid to admit hes been wrong
Ezekiel Brindsley Reid - One of the best ever British fighters.
Not many can say they've fought 4 potential hall of famers in their prime.
One of my favourite fighters good luck to u Kell great interview simon
Brilliant episode. Love kell. Thanx.
Everybody knew he would smash Khan and that's exactly what happened. Another gem from the Ingle stable.
Down to earth guy, never ducked anybody. Respect and chocolate brownies
We need more interviews like this. A hard line of questioning which a lot of interviewers are scared to ask.
Khan was the only British boxing Olympian at those games and at 17 came back with a silver. Simon is such a fool
Simon deserves a lot of credit for the Up Front podcast. Keep up the good work.
Possibly the best episode yet Simon. Kell best of healthy to you
