I DIDNT KNOW YOU WERE IN THE SEA TAC AIRPORT
hello! @DoctorMike love your videos! Have been watching your videos since 2020!
Did you know that if you soak One ounce of cannabis leaf in one quart of olive oil for a week, you can replace all OTC pain remedies in the store?? Ten years of testing and can't find a Pain it won't cure. Fact
Doctor, ily
I have a question. Does castor oil help whatever it is placed on? also im a young viewer. also can you do more five minute crafts and memes with bear?
Dr. Mike's pure outrage at medical psuedo-science does my heart good. The fact that he takes it so personally proves that he really cares about people's health and well-being.
It is outragous indeed people are such fools
TikTok is just weird
It is nice to see that he is generally such a good-hearted and loving doctor. A shame that he is in the US cause I'd love to have him as my doctor in Germany.
I feel this❤
YES, Indeed he is one who explains the logic behind the foolishness vs the real Scientific data.
My favorite quote from Mike: "Remember, if something doesn't have side effects, it doesn't have effects, PERIOD."
"if you're in a relationship but nothings changed, it doesn't work"
Exactly ❤
😁
what about fruits, good for your body but no side effects
yeah sure
A gas station in my city once jokingly put "arm" and "leg" for plus and premium gas prices.
My uncle went in after filling with regular and popped off one of his prosthetic leg and asked for change. The guy behind the counter laughed so hard.
Dr. Mike’s neck veins protruding because of misinformation was honestly what we want in our doctors.
Watch out for protruding veins when you work in a hospital, the nurses will want your blood!
Dr Mike having a meltdown about misinformation will never not make me laugh 😂😂😂 absolutely love how he takes his job seriously. We need more of you.
I also LOVE the way his editor enhances those moments, it's so hilarious. My favorite moment is still that one where Mike screams IT CLEANS YOUR BLOOD?! with the camera shake effect 😂
@user-wh5ir4fo4r everyone loves seeing bear 😻
My toxic trait is watching Dr. Mike when I should be studying for my nursing courses bc he sometimes goes over medical facts and I can convince myself I’m being productive :)
I don't know if you're still in nursing courses, but I'll say right now: watching an entertaining TH-camr who *sometimes* goes over medical facts is more productive than watching something that never covers medical facts at all. You're still doing *some* studying!
I watched Mama Dr. Jones for my OB content
same lmao
So true same here gurl
Toxic trait....
Using that is your toxic trait in my opinion, watching him doesn't effect anyone but you.
Honestly respect to this man for fighting misinformation with such enthusiasm and accuracy.
We need more people calling out ALL sources of pseudoscience like Dr Mike. Whether it’s in the news or in TikToks, no one is safe. Even scenes in TV shows that are clearly satire and actually agree with Mike isn’t safe.
I'm a garment technician and textile engineer, and it's crazy what I see online... like people literally have no clue about the most basic things of what they are wearing and textiles in general... e.g. a lot of people don't know that polyester and polyamide are actual plastic, or that you should urgently wash clothes before you wear them the first time, because those are not getting washed after the sewing process, so the shirt you bought was literally touch by approx. 100-200 people before you got it... And there is SO SO MUCH more... I mean, when nobody teaches you, how should you know...
Sometimes I read comments under textile production videos / reels / shorts... and it's so crazy, that I don't know if I should laugh or cry. 😅
Personally, I would love to do educational content in this field, but this is a full time job and more... and of course money...
@@neko2412neko Make videos on the subject, you should! A large audience for this kind of information there is, and important it is. Untapped potential , this area of content seems to be.
@@neko2412neko okay people touched it and? The dye/chemicals in clothing is more dangerous and should be washed but not because people touched it
@platinum pepe the chemical aspect is another reason of cause, but the hygenic standards are totally different in the production countries so a lot of "invisible" dirt get on the clothes, and than it gets loaded in shipping containers and transported for over 6 weeks in a warm and humidity climate which is great for things like bacteria growth and mold... I heard a first-hand story where the mold got just brushed off of denim jeans at the destination, even though I don't understand how this is possible (in an ethical way especially... just like, wth!?)...
@@neko2412neko you really took all that time to write ur bullshit life story that no one cares about
Seeing how excited Mike got when he saw that kid giving chest compressions literally made my day
"You know what happens when natural products have proof behind them? They become medication."
Honestly, this is the best way I've heard this articulated.
Did you notice how the disinfection dentists use smells like salvia or clove and mint? Yeah, you can use those things when you have minor dental issues (like scratched gums) or if you have some problem on weekend and cannot go to your dentist right away.
Yes!!!!!!!!!!! Also penicillin
Also valerian, poppies, and so many other plants. Everything comes from somewhere.
Harmaline will in all likelihood never be approved as a medication even though it's been proven to work as a RIMA like moclobemide.
It irks me that more effective natural medicine isn't taught to doctors or used here in the US. Valerian and Skullcap are commonly used in other countries like Japan and Germany to treat things like insomnia and anxiety instead of Rx drugs with a million possible side effects.
Valerian harmful side effects? None unless you're allergic. Natural substances like that can't be patented, so nobody gets rich. So they suppress it in favor or prescription lab-made drugs.
You could literally explain anything and I'll understand it. I HATE these fake medical stuff and you do a great job at debunking them and clearing them up. Honestly.
@Don’t read my profile picture ok i wont
Just felt the need to mention, that thing where the old guy is slapping and kicking the younger guy is something from goju-ryu. The younger man is performing a Kata called Sanchin, while the older is doing Shime on him. Sanchin is an exercise performed while tensing every muscle as much as possible and going through the forms, Shime is done by the instructor to make sure the student is performing the kata correctly. Please note that both of those men are blackbelts (pretty sure I know who the older man is, but can't remember his name, if he's who I think, he's a grandmaster of Goju-Ryu) normally for less experienced students shime is only light pushes done to test and correct, at their level this sort of shime is to be expected.
What you don't see when the old master goes for those nut shots is that the younger man has his legs planted very specially so that his tenders don't get tenderized. His thighs are stopping the kicks entirely.
In summary, those two are very skilled practitioners of Goju-Ryu and generally just very strong men. Do *not* imitate then without *years* of training and practice with Sanchin.
My mother did one of these "detox cleansing" things for months to prepare for a future knee operation. I told her that her kidneys do that fine enough since its their literal job. She, of course, believed the blogs. At least she could laugh along with me when she came back from her meeting with the doctor and got told the same thing I told her.
Thnx Dr. Mike for teaching me the truth about those "Detox" potions.
It’s Called Miracle Potion!
And if you're needing to do heavy metal stuff regularly, you may need to check your OSHA compliance. Like, there's a TH-cam backyard chemist who does all sorts of refining of metals, including regularly cleaning/purifying/re-refining his large stash of mercury (which includes dissolving it in such a way that it would be bioavailable), and I don't think even he's had to receive chelation yet (though he did discuss it in one of his refining videos because it is part of one of the processes he used for refining his mercury). Oh, and he also plays with the mercury sometimes because he just has so much.
If if you've got less effective safety protocols than him, there's something *very* wrong with your protocols.
If you need to clean your system, just drink a potion of that colon prep, that'll have your bowels flushing the cr@p out.
@@bandana_girl6507If you’re talking about who I think you are (Cody’s Lab, if I remember correctly), he actually does a lot of safety things. For example, after coming into contact with mercury, he washes himself really well, which works because metallic mercury needs to chemically react to be able to go through skin so it takes a bit. He gets regular mercury blood tests, and has not found his blood levels to increase even to half of the recommended maximum.
One big thing that I really hate about TikTok is that it's allowing every person to think they're an expert. And in the long run that's really dangerous. Just because people watch your content doesn't mean you always know what you're talking about
3:20 'Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie' 🤘😎🤘That will be my metal band-name!
Heck yeah 🤘
Dr.mike slowly going insane over fake medicine/medical tiktoks is the funniest thing ever to me
I like it when he goes all out lol
Sadly, this happens to a lot of content creator in their field of expertise. These people can't even imagine how bad the social network information is. As an internet native, I'm often sorry for it.
Poor man
Side note on the allergies: As a bartender, please please tell your server any allergies you have, even if it doesn't seem to be in the item you're ordering. For example, one day they sent us peanut oil for our fryer. If you ordered fries you would think you would be fine. Always always tell us so we can take the necessary precautions.
Fun fact: peanut oil is not actually a peanut allergen for most people who are allergic to peanuts! But props to you for looking out for people! As someone with a peanut allergy, I truly appreciate when others are willing to look out for each other's allergies!! ♥️
Another fun fact: you're using the "as a bartender" part in a completely wrong way, you can't simply change the subject after that. You could have said something like "as a bartender, I want to tell you...". What you, however, said, is: the reader of your comment is a bartender and he needs to tell the server about his allergies...
@@soothingwisdom273 Have you ever heard about the descriptive approach to grammar? Basically, you could focus on what some authority puts forward as "correct" grammar (prescriptive approach) OR you could look at how most people actually write and speak and use that as the standard of what is correct (descriptive approach.) I knew exactly what Illyssa was trying to say, and so did everybody else. I used to correct people like this, but I stopped doing it after I learned that most linguists use the descriptive approach as the gold standard. It may seem fun and harmless to correct people's grammar, but it can come off as condescending or pedantic. The prescriptive approach often fails to take into account the distinct features of different dialects as well as natural changes in a language over time. I would prefer it if fewer people corrected others' grammar in cases like this.
Respectfully,
Sarah M. (B.A. in Languages, Linguistics, and Comparative Literature)
@@sarahmiller4980 Girl, you're taking to a phd candidate in neurolinguistics. I know what you're talking about and I'm not using the prescriptive approach at all - her sentence is simply wrong on so many levels. I don't have the time to explain it, I'm working with aphasics right now

I feel sorry for the stress that Dr Mike has to go through watching and debunking these TikToks, and I know you should never laugh at someone else’s pain or discomfort. But I just can’t help it! 😂 Watching Dr M turn bright red and have the veins popping out everywhere (while I’m sure his mind is 🤯) is just funny! Thank you Dr Mike for enduring this level of stress for our entertainment ❤️
As someone who lost an uncle unexpectedly to sudden cardiac arrest at work I loved seeing the little boy call out directions to people and mimic cpr while waiting. My uncle was worked on for over an hour between work, paramedics, and hospital staff but never recovered but my aunt’s husband survived sudden cardiac arrest while driving because of cpr so it’s the most important (and only) chance some people have.
The absolute *outrage*
Mike: *yelling* “WEBSTER!!! WE’RE CHANGING THE DEFINITION!!!!”
8:45 Dr. Mike (who is one of my favorite TH-camrs) mentioned MatPat (another one of my favorite TH-camrs) just made my day so much better!
10:20 The way he went from 🤯 to 😒😑 fired
I LOVE this man.. your anger at misinformation gives me hope.. we can't just sit back and allow people to say whatever they want, and claiming whatever they want about medicine!! It's DANGEROUS!
@SunnyinNV ooof, hit em where it hurts why don't ya? tRuST ThE ScIENCE. I wonder if Mike believes in lockdowns, if he does, he's either an idiot, or evil.
@SunnyinNV Exactly! So many at risk lives were given the chance to beat the viral infection, medicine is truly miraculous
4:51: True dat for as I systematically became disabled starting in 2018, UNEXPECTEDLY & SUDDENLY comedy & an attitude of gratitude along w learning to NOT sweat the small stuff has legit saved my life & this is why the ONLY time I see TikTok video's is on a reaction video. Great video per usual❤😊
“..you go into death” is by far my favorite line you’ve ever said. 3:10 😂😂
10:27 Still better chest compressions than the non-existent ones on most medical dramas.
I mean if the medical dramas did real chest compressions they would have a lot of broken ribs and bruised chests
@@tobylewis8958 Watch OG Doogie Howser sometime. (Not the new Kamelaoha one)
He does chest compressions in it from time to time, albeit lightly to not injure the actors.
It's still better than shocking flatline.
The anaphylaxis one is crazy! As someone who grew up with allergies and has gone into anaphylaxis at least twice as a CHILD, I get anxious even just eating out and being around peanut products! And the first major one that was almost certainly just food (and not exercise after food) that happened after I got diagnosed and got EpiPens I was so freaked out that despite knowing how in theory to administer the EpiPen, my sister ended up having to help me do it. We were at an airport and because I wasn't a citizen of that country, the paramedics refused to do it. I seriously hope he had someone else with him, because when you're mid-anaphylaxis you're terrified and busy itching from head to toe, you're likely tearing up like crazy, your face swells.
Also, I really wish that people would stop touting pseudoscience on the internet. My mum's fallen prey to them and she's all about oRgAnIc and nAtUrAl stuff. Not to say that there may not be long term effects from GMOs, but we've literally been doing the slow and unpredictable version of that probably since the beginning of civilisation. Heck, bananas, watermelons, tomatoes used to look very different and things like oranges didn't even used to exist. And most recently she's like "all carbs are bad" and "you should eat fibre then protein then carbs".
It always impresses me how doctors can just identify something and can pull those medical names out of nowhere.
As a Healthcare worker I've been fitted for an N95 mask twice and let me tell you, the stuff they spray in those hoods triggered an asthma attack both times for me. That being said I still recommend getting fit tested to make sure you get a proper seal so the mask works the way it should.
Aspirin is a natural derivative. Digitalis is a natural derivative (foxglove). Penicillin is a natural derivative (penicillium mold-white stuff on rotting oranges). Opium is a natural derivative (opium poppy).
My doctor put a honey-infused dressing on a deep scrape on my knee and it caused the skin to renew without scarring on a goodly half of the wound. It was a deep scrape, so I think it could only help so much.
However! I accidently smashed my toe with the foot of a chair I was trying to scoot (I'm almost 200 lbs🥺), and when I cleaned the area, I smeared a bit of honey on the wound before the bandage. I am proud to say that in 2 days the wound was quite healed with little bruising and a diminished mark where the chair landed on my toe and tore skin. The scraped skin was healed, too.
And honey is great in tea!
Recently, I was inspired to teach CPR in front of an audience thanks to Doctor Mike! Thanks Doctor Mike for teaching everyone here about medicine!
Hi Doctor Mike! My medical assisting class watch your videos almost everyday when we have free time always making us laugh. Love the videos keep them coming.
11:09 this take of yours about pharma really struck me. I was diagnosed with MS three months ago and was very quickly assigned natalizumab as my long-term treatment. And while it's arguably the best one out there, I still did a lot of research to find out what other options are or might be available someday. And all I found was more monoclonal antibodies and other types of immunomodulatory treatments, but nothing aiming to cure the disease...
On the other hand, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation has been shown to be far more effective against MS than any of those long-term treatments, sometimes leading to very long-term NEDA. It's only being done on very rare occasions, even though it could probably be improved and made viable for more patients if further investigated, which sounds like the right call to me given the fact that it's the only treatment currently available which has shown some curative potential.
Props to Mike for calling horseshit on a three year olds chest compressions
This made me choke lmfao ☠️
We have to have standards
Most three year olds don't even know what a chest compression is. Give him a few more years. At this rate, by the time he's out of elementary school, he'll be a pro.

5:30 the last bit is correct "I BS"
yeah they are bullshitting
I've had people ask me why I watch Dr. Mike, but don't watch "other health experts like the ones on tiktok"
My response is always I don't watch tiktok at all, and Dr. Mike makes sure that you can verify something he says is a fact and makes it clear when it's an opinion.
Case in point the pharma theory.
this is exasperating, to think how many people fall for this scams. Thanks for trying to create awareness doc 💪
Can't even begin to express how important Dr. Mike's words here at 6:02, "If something does not have side effects, it has no effects, period". Exactly. This is something everyone learns subconsciously ever since you're a kid. I literally have no idea how some people are still stupid enough to not realize this one fact. Dr Mike--completely agree with your take on drug development. I read one study that actually showed that antibiotics are one of the least likely drugs to be researched because there's little payout for a company to develop a short term medication that a Pt takes for a week or so
That's not really the issue if the antibiotic is very expensive. We don't get a lot of new antibiotics because whenever we do, we in infectious diseases do our beat to limit the use of the newer substances in order to preserve their effectiveness and prevent resistance.
The first mans humor was W 🥰
I love that you included a reference to the Food Theory episode about Prime. It was actually a super interesting episode and I'd love to see a collaboration someday between Dr. Mike and MatPat & the Theorist team

But that's just a theory, a Medical Theory!!

I think one thing that needs to change is Big Pharma being able to advertise to the masses, like on TV and social media. A friend of mine who came to visit from England was blown away that it's legal for those companies to advertise like that.
💯 agree
Eh, I don't see it as an issue, because a doctor has to prescribe you these medications anyways, you can't just see a medication commercial, then go to the grocery store and buy it. If you ask a doctor about it, they won't prescribe it to you, if you don't need it.
Very few countries allow this advertising.
And sometimes they don't even tell you what they're for. It's just a bunch of people at a picnic and the name of the drug plastered everywhere. 'Get this drug and have a happy family!' There should be no reason for them to advertise to us.
I sincerely thank you for explaining Brownian Motion!!
I knew that smaller particles got caught more easily, but didn't quite understand WHY, and nobody was ever able to explain that to me before, not even acquaintances in the medical field - they just threw me the perennial, "Uh, it's hard to explain, you wouldn't understand" 🙄...
The frustrated yelling of "WEBSTERRR!" really got me 😭🤣
Telling the FDA to remove misleading claims from TikTok is like telling someone to remove every molecule of salt from the ocean, one by one.
"They won't spend money looking for a cure" -- yep. Agreed. I'm type one diabetic, as is one of my siblings. My mom was a nurse and always used to say that she didn't believe in conspiracy theories except one: that pharmaceutical companies could have cured diabetes years ago if they really wanted to.
I'm type 1 diabetic also, would be awesome if they had a cure. I'm lucky though in nz cause all my medicine for it is free.
I agree with both of you, fellow Type 1s.
Had a really cute moment at work… noticed a customer’s dexcom CGM, and said, “Is that the new dexcom7?” I wear a dexcom6, her friend had a dexcom4… we were comparing them. And then they noticed my pump.
I love my tandem… one of the girls was calling her mom, asking if she could get one
I low key disagree. You only know that you have a diabetes cure when you cure diabetes with it. You can’t suppress something if you don’t know what it does. Hep C was recently cured.
Hey Doctor Mike! I'm a kinesiology student and in one of my sport medicine courses I learned that the nursemaid's elbow you talked about is often reportable to children's aid as it is a common sign of child abuse. However, from your example in the video I see accidents like that happen so that got me wondering, how would you approach the situation for a radial head dislocation or nursemaid's elbow?
A good history and physical and x rays can be really helpful here! If you see bruising in many different areas or evidence of other fractures that didn't heal properly, that's an indication that might push you more towards abuse. Also, pay attention to the way the kid acts. Are they shy? Do they move away from their parents? Are they tense? Body language and a few pointed questions can be really useful! It's not as simple as one sign being a "gotcha" for abuse
Dr.Mikes reaction to misinformation is aboslutely hilarious.
I'm at the point where as soon as I see any type of "miracle potion" being advertised on TikTok or anywhere else I can immediately hear Dr. Mike pointing out everything that's wrong with the product and claims. 😂 You are appreciated. 💙

Regarding fevers, my Dad, who is a horticulturist and agriculturist, has always told us to keep warm (wear socks etc) whenever we are sick with a virus, even if we feel warm or have a fever. He told us how they put young sweet potato plants/runners into an incubator for a period of time to kill viruses before they are planted in the ground. So it makes sense that keeping your body warm (with clothes, or a fever) will help to kill any viruses!
I adore how you react to the misinformation! I’m the same when it comes to veterinary misinformation out there, and trust me there is just as much! The rage!
Thanks for helping tackle these issues and showing people the actual science behind it all.
PS… all the antibiotics stuff Dr Mike said… yeah that applied to your pets too
Medical bs has been circulating forever, I am fortunate I live in an age where a doctor can directly confront it in a free and public forum
Peer-reviewed studies have shown epipens are nearly as effective up to FIVE YEARS after their expiration date. Yes, get a new one, but keep that old one as a backup!
Also, look into Auvi-Q as an epi delivery system because it walks someone through the process of administration, much like an AED does, which is wonderful in school settings where unlicensed people may be charged with holding/giving epi in emergent situations. (No affiliation with Auvi-Q, just a school nurse, CPR instructor, and fan of simplified processes.)
I’ve developed a habit of yelling at wacky health claims. Thanks to
