Can’t spend anymore money on all these streaming services. I would rather put that money into actually prepping for something then watching it.

Why does survivalist fiction (movies or books) always have an SF guy or ex-Navy SEAL show up to teach the well-meaning but ignorant civilians about surviving and fending off the evil around them? I remember the "Out Of The Ashes" novels of William Johnstone published in the late 1980s. Same idea back then.

Cause that’s the formula. Gotta have some special operator dudes and a random ER nurse or SF medic and a doctor. The heroes dying of gun shot wounds, hunger , disease or appendicitis, etc doesn’t make a good story.

Because nobody wants to see the Verizon employee take out the bad guys and save the day.
Haven’t seen it, and probably wont.

Love Out of the Ashes. Got the cassettes of some of the books. Some CDs and a couple on Audible.

I think the movie was made for normies and to push them towards the TV series AND the streaming service. For me, that works fine. Its actually smart. The same thign was done in the 70s and 80s with Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers. Both came out in the theaters with the intention to reuse the sets and props for the TV series. Keeps the budget down and given the enormity of creating a streaming service with enough content to satisfy viewers, I'm impressed that the Christian community stepped up its gamee. I'd rather spend 100 bucks on a startup christian streaming network that shares most of my values than 100 bucks on Netflix, a company that hates people like me and my politics.

The book series, “Black autumn“ fills in all the gaps. As often is the case, the screenplay never does justice to the story.

The movie was basically the first two episodes of the series combined into a movie. The casting was well done, but otherwise, it was not worth it. The books are fantastic, though.

Most will see their fate when it comes to nuclear attacks and some of us are too tired to dig a hole but a rare few will sit and watch the fireball coming to them with peace of mind and faith.

Movie was just a pilot for the tv series. We were disappointed, they could have still made it a worth while movie to see in the theaters and still have a tv series. Not so realistic but maybe it'll get those on the fence to finally start preparing for hard times.

Yeah, maybe people newer to the idea of prepping were their main focus. That and speaking their message about God.

This movie is GREAT, because it’s useful, for two reasons. First, to feel folks out about prepping and get an idea as to their level of seriousness (based on their thoughts of the movie). Second, to introduce “normal” folks to the idea of a community that is somewhat prepared, and start the conversation, and hopefully down that path.

It was worth watching, but it was just a setup for the series, I signed up to see the series and they have 2 episodes. The next episode hasn't even started filming yet so basically you sign up, pay for it until they decide to start filming the next episode. Not worth it for me. I'll wait until they finish it then pay to watch it.

I watched the movie, and it was good. It was a fiction movie, but as a documentary, it lacked credibility. A qualified technical advisor should have been used to develop the film. This film has good points, but it also contains dangerous information for a person without preparation. This is just my humble opinion.

My wife and I recently watched 'Homestead,' and I largely agree with your assessment. It felt more suited for television than the big screen, and I regrettably subscribed to see the second part as advertised. Sadly, it was underwhelming, and canceling the subscription proved unnecessarily difficult.
Frankly, I found the movie's premise unrealistic. While I believe in the resilience of the human spirit in localized disasters, I have concerns about widespread societal collapse. History suggests that desperation can bring out the worst in people. I fear that widespread food and water shortages could lead to a breakdown of social order, with even the most decent individuals driven to extreme measures to survive.
I'm hopeful that smaller, more tightly-knit communities would find strength in adversity. However, I worry about the influx of desperate individuals from larger, more chaotic areas.
Ultimately, I pray that we never face such a grim reality and that our children and grandchildren inherit a more peaceful and stable world.

The movie start nice but the end is lacking , also some of the things dong make sense, the father in the begging of the movie got stuck in LA in gridlock while plum of nuclear dust falls on LA.. yes his fine, no traffic jam, no radiation poisoning , the wife use a Tesla , wow lets use electric vehicles to run .. and come on, the entire homestead dont have means of communication, no HAM radio ? no GPRS, and it seems no one every imagine something called Satellite dish to get information of other satellite around the US or Mexico to watch TV or hear radio broadcast ? the concept was great, the plot was ok , acting was good !

I’m not sure how you could possibly think that a complete long term power outage would not result in some form of mad max. That seems like it would be the most likely scenario.

If you want to understand this movie you have to have read the book series starting with Black Autumn. It’s no better than the Terminal List video series, couldn’t hold a candle to the book series.

The movie makers should have flipped the whole thing on its head; the majority of the affected vs. one man's utopia stance... where the movie starts in neighborhoods.

Dude, a $100 a year is extremely expensive? Name a cheaper streaming channel. You can do 1 month for $12 and watch the series and move on. Cheaper than 2 theater tickets.
