In the RN there are certain names for the 3 services. The RN are called Jack, Army - Pongoes, and the RAF are Crabfats why that I would have to ask my sea dads "crabfat" - it is a derogatory term - the grease that was used on Navy gun breeches was called "crabfat" as it resembled the blue colour of the ointment used to treat sailors for 'crabs' - the RAF uniform was a similar shade of blue hence the link
Ben i bought my Puma ST at 1 year old from ford and it was the ex press car and it's actually on TH-cam going around a track up again the kona N which I actually love seeing it getting thrown around.
Hi Ben and Win. Here in Australia 🇦🇺 in the state I live in Victoria you can get your licence at 18 it is called a provisional licence and you have to display red P plates for 1 year. In this time you can only have 1 peer passenger under 21 unless they are a relative. Then for the next 2 years you have to were green P plates and pass a hazard perception test before you can have peer passengers. Love the podcast don't always get time to listen but I'll catch them up sometime. Have a good week. Marc from Australia 🇦🇺
When the boat was in refit in Plymouth, we were invited to RAF St Mawgan to experience a flight on a Nimrod. It was to take us up to Yorkshire land, spot of lunch then back to St Mawgan. Anyway in the briefing room the flight engineer came in an told us the flight was canceled as one of the flappy things was not working due to it hanging off. From us we asked Ever heard of Gaffa tape mate, or mazel metal? Some stern looks from him!
Ref your storage stuff,On the Oberon class Submarines our important stuff being beer was stored in 7 and 8 torpedo tubes. Being in there kept the cases of beer cool.
Great show! I had an R reg Ford Escort estate and it was the most reliable and economical to run pre-owned cars I’ve ever had. Luck of the draw I suppose. My no no is green cars 😂
I think it was RAF one eleven squadron who used to fly those amazing Lightnings as display team didn’t they, like the red arrows now? Were they called the black arrows? I remember one year in the early 60s I was cycling up to Biggin Hill for the annual air display and this one came over head low and apparently “inadvertently” broke the sound barrier - it was quite a bang!, if I remember right the poor pilot got grief in the press for it! As far as I was concerned as a 13/14 year old he could do it all day every day! Really spectacular! Love the podcast - perhaps you need to lay in a supply of bacon sandwiches with brown sauce for Ben’s hangovers though iced coffee isn’t enough!
There was a story in the 1960's of a training exercise where the Americans would fly a U2 spy plane over the UK and we had to try and intercept it. An English electric lightning not only intercepted the U2 but photographed it from above at an estimated 88000 feet 😂
Ben , just passing your test 5 cars written off in a month ... and you would volunteer to land a plane in an emergency .. god help everone on that plane ... they thought they were fooked there well fooked now 🤣
My youngest is 20, has a Skoda Fabia 1.0 and his insurance is over £2k with a black box. Imagine the insult added to that injury if he couldn’t drive his girlfriend places.
Chat GPT gets upset quite easily. I have had a couple of bans/reg flags against conversations for asking things like "how many ways are there to skin a cat" and "how much blood is in a cow, if you used a bladed item and a crane" i have paraphrased and without context i guess these things seem werid.
I could listen to you 2 talk for hours and hours. Hysterical.
Thanks you two another thoroughly entertaining podcast. Had me chuckling away constantly as per usual.
Brilliant, guys, I've never laughed so much in my life 🤣 to be fair, tho I don't get out much 😆
Well Ben hearing you smoke weed for a few years answer a lot of questions 😂😂 great show as always 👏

Actually thinking about it, one eleven used to fly Hunters so maybe the Lightening guy was just a one off
Another great episode gentlemen. Is there a magazine behind Wynne called “Jizz Jazz”?!

Very educational podcast this - in this episode we learned that AI is not just terrifying, it's also a complete twat. 😂
