I truly miss how different all the Sims games used to be, they all had their unique flavors. Just the Sims 2 was basically a completely different unique game across all the different platforms. The console version of Sims 2 Castaway is still to this day one of my favorites.
I really love what they did with the Sims 2 series, they're my favorite games for sure. I remember playing the Sims 2 Castaway all the time as a kid, definitely a gem!

To this day, the fact that jackets were separate from shirts and skirts/pants were separate from shoes and WE DIDN’T HAVE THAT IN THE ACTUAL SIMS 2 PC GAME still pisses me off.

After finding out about the Urbz sims in the city and realising that Sims 2 is based off of the Urbz scrapped sequel some elements make a little more sense now.

@@rov-0250 Yeah, unfortunately this game had a different story per location, rather than a consistent story through the whole game. They did better with the other games like Sims 2 PSP, Bustin' Out, etc. Still love it though

I'm surprised by a few things, first is how effective the espresso is for energy LOL. And the Perma grind on the second house was kinda crazy, I always thought if someone were to something like this they would use the console cursor to control the Sims but direct control does make more sense. This was a crazy Speedrun to watch LMAO good shit
The espresso machine is sure a life saver. I used to use high energy boost meals or just power napping and that was a mess lol. My mind was blown when I first tried the espresso. I think using classic control has its perks too, since you can set up a queue of things to do, but I like the direct control.
And if you use a blender you can eat much faster. Sims in this game take SO long to eat a plate of food, but if you blend the food it takes like 1 second to drink it
@@malloryknox6802 Yes! I learned that when I used to drink meals for my energy before discovering the espresso. One quick swig instead of eating is so powerful it's awesome

Yeah! I think the console/handheld versions having a story mode to complete helps with that, since there's an end game

Thank you! I feel so bad that I deleted my 100% runs years ago. It's a very long run so it's been difficult to get myself to do it again, but I will do it at some point on a stream or something

this game was so important to me as a child. the music was always kinda creepy/weird but not unpleasant to me as a kid, and that feeling is coming back so clearly even hearing it years later lol.
I’ve always been a PC simmer, owned a PS2 and PSP but I had only gotten the sims 2 for PSP and never ps2 so I find this video interesting and seeing how it was on the PS2

34:11 You can don't wait when GUI menu show after you click to drink Expresso. You can while drink Expresso click to the Expresso machine and stack plans to sim

Thank you! I have done two 100% runs in the past actually, but unfortunately they never got uploaded and eventually got deleted. My laptop currently can't handle another attempt, but I'll be getting a new PC soon. So, I should be able to get back into speedrunning and give it another go.

I know right? Technically, layering is an Urbz feature, since this game was originally the Urbz 2. There was also supposed to be a PC release of the Urbz, so I could only imagine we would've been given the layering feature there too!

Ohhhh, that's a difficult question! I have a thing for Strangetown, so the Alien Crash Site is certainly one of my favorites. Though the Bio Dome is so unique I might have to go with that one.

That's weird, it's hard to know what's wrong without the details or seeing it. You have the GameCube ISO, trying to run it in Dolphin, but it won't work?
So you are not include the dressing room into the speed run? The first 2 hours is always for dressing room lol

Somehow the console sims model look a bit better than the PC version damn wish some modders would rip-off and make a mod for PC
I actually do find the console models to be very cute too. I have been converting models over to PC for awhile, mostly objects, but I'm working on some clothing now. I was unsure if I should be leaving the bodyshape the same or adjust it to look more like PC, so I'm glad to see someone else that likes the console sims!

Yeah, this was supposed to be Urbz 2. So, that's why all the models and animations look more like Urbz compared to its PC counterpart. Though a LOT of the Sims 2 ports are unique as well. Only the Sims 2 PSP used a bunch of assets from the PC version. I kinda prefer this tbh, I do like that you have a different game depending on the platform

The story mode here is kind of all over the place tbh, still love the game anyway. Sims 1 and Bustin' Out are definitely great

I believe there's a chance to get robbed when all playable Sims are sleeping or at work. I remember getting robbed once just moments after my Sim went to work. I thought it was day time when it happened, so I'm not sure if the time of day matters

The PS2 version is definitely the slowest. I've never played on xbox, but from my understanding it also seems to be slow. (There's unique loading screens for it since loading screens take forever supposedly on xbox) So I currently stand with GameCube being the fastest, but I'm not 100% sure

It might be because I'm playing on the GameCube version and used a decent laptop. I remember growing up with the PS2 version and experienced some slow loading times with it

@@deadpoolgames1 I don't know if I would do that. There's no (Any% [no pressing fast forward]) category on the board, so it would be more like a challenge run? But it's really not as this wouldn't increase the difficulty, it just drags out the gameplay
