Whenever I think about Paula Deen is pure comfort food, laughing, sweetness and good southern cooking. You do remind me a lot of her!! I remember watching her cooking show all the time. Her You tube channel is really good also. I really appreciate you teaching us southern cooking because I never grew up on that. We did have cornbread though a lot for breakfast.
Leslie, green pea salad has green sweet peppers, celery, and onion, cheddar cheese, and bacon. The dressing is made with mayonnaise and vinegar with a little bit of sugar. It is layered with iceberg or romaine lettuce. My younger sister didn't like green peas either.
Mama Sue’s Southern Kitchen is great one also, I also really really the recipes of “Rachel Cooks with Love”, fantastic food! I’ve made several of her dishes!❤️
Paula is going strong on her TH-cam channel. She started it during Covid and helped us all get through it. God is " restoring to her the years the locusts have eaten ". Joel 2:25
Happy 4th of July, Leslie, Pastor Bryant, and family! Thank you for sharing this recipe from Paula Deen. It looks delicious, and is also very pretty! I love you guys, God bless you all, 🤗❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸🎇🎆
Lemon blooms. I've made them 100 times by request. My daughter is a exchange student host and now that recipe is being made in Taiwan, Norway, and Italy. Any holiday, get together, invite to dinner, I have to bring them or everyone is disappointed. 🤷
Looks delicious Leslie and I'm most definitely going to be adding this to my list of "must try's" of yours (let me say that list is gettin' pretty darn long too🤣)!...I would like to nominate Ree Drummond and Trisha Yearwood for your "weeks of July" honors! Have a beautiful, blessed and bright Independence Day, and take care! Ms. Elizabeth 🇺🇲🧨🎆💥🥁
Hi Miss Leslie and PB. Happy 4th of July to you too. I would try this dish. I would add the cilantro like you said and lime. Hope you have a fun 4th. Can’t wait to see what you make tomorrow. 😊
I have always said a recipe is just a foundation for us to build on. If it makes you feel better, follow the recipe exactly the first time, then make it yours. Just enjoy trying new stuff. Thanks for sharing today.
Here in the North we are celebrating the 4 th with rain so to all that are having guest over we call it a rainbbq I make a cold rice salad my family loves it is called a Italian grinder salad so you make two cups of rice chill in refrig mix cubed ham about a lb chunk cheese on 8 oz three dill pickles diced one pepper diced I use red or orange then green onions about one cup chopped add parsley fresh about 1/4 cup now add half a cup of oil your choice plus 3 tablespoons of vinegar mix well refrig
Looks good! I think cilantro would make it tastier then the parsley. Cilantro also goes good with lemon or lime and of course any type of beans and rice! Will definitely be trying this but will use the cilantro instead of parsley! Thanks so much Leslie! And of course the wonderful Paula Deen!
Would love to see Pastor Bryant in the kitchen doing some things he makes or likes! You can tell he knows quite a bit about cooking and ingredients from the detailed way he does the taste tests. We know he is really busy but would love to see that at some point in time👍.
I love Paula Deen. If you know her background and how she got to be where she is, you can't help but be impressed. And I really don't think that ANYBODY should be judged by only one incident in their lives. That being said . . . I don't think that you and Pastor Bryant really enjoyed her "Hoppin' John Salad" recipe that much at all. Am I wrong?
I love this salad!! You can use the sweeter red, yellow or orange bell peppers if you don’t like the taste of green ones. I use the whole green onion. I’ve also made this with finely chopped blanched cauliflower instead of rice for a lower carb option, it turned out really well.
Leslie, your sister’s salad with peas sounds like marinated vegetable salad. I’ve heard it called various names. I actually love this salad. 1 11-oz. can white shoepeg corn, drained 1 15-oz. can petite sweet peas (Le Sueur brand), drained 1 14.5-oz. can French-style green beans, drained 1 small jar of diced pimento 1 bunch of green onions, chopped 1 green bell pepper, chopped 3 celery ribs, chopped or sliced 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar 1 cup vegetable oil 1/2 - 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
My favorite memories of my dad is old fashion southern pea salad. We were only ones who liked it! Lettuce, peas, hard boiled eggs, onion & mayo! It was our simple little thing we loved together. I make it for myself to remember the best Dad ever!!
Hey Leslie! The Hopping John Salad looks real good!!! I love Paula Deen also! I used to watch her all the time. You said that you use Texas Pete hot sauce, because its made in North Carolina, where you are from. I use Louisiana hot sauce because I'm from Louisiana, even though I currently live in Mississippi. I also use Tony Chahere's Cajun seasoning in almost everything I cook!!!!
Happy 4th of July also to you! I’m a little fire cracker as my dad called me because it is my birthday and what a great time to be doing Paula Deen for my birthday! I have watched her and love her recipes!!
Not sure if my family would like this salad. If I were to make it I would either eliminate the black eyed peas and maybe use white beans or maybe peas. It might be worth a try. Thank you sharing Paula Deans recipes. Looking forward to the next few weeks.
I’m loving this salad. I would substitute the black eyed peas for chick peas & throw in a handful of cilantro. Yum yum. To make it a little healthier you could even substitute the rice for quinoa. I don’t like quinoa by itself but love it in a salad. Thank you for another great video
They make hippo John on New Years in the south, but it’s hot. This is an appropriate salad for Independence Day! Black eyed peas are for wisdom on New Years (greens for money, rice for fertility etc). Our Country needs sone wisdom going forward!
That entire video you were trying to talk yourself into liking it, while being so skeptical of the fact. Lol it was funny. I was like… why is she making something in g she’s never made before from her?!?!!! Cause we’ve all made about 1,000 or more of her 8 million recipes she has. Lol
Great idea shrimp 🍤. Yes cilantro too!
I LOVE YOUR SHIRT!!! What a tribute to your grands!!!
Thank you
Looks delicious 😋 Yum 😋
Looks and sounds yummy.

Yes she is!
I love Paula Deen. Glad you chose her. Looking forward to you doing the next recipe. Cheers!!😊❤
❤
I think so too -- Shrimp would be great in this dish
I am going to try this recipe. I love black-eyed peas.
Leslie, green pea salad has green sweet peppers, celery, and onion, cheddar cheese, and bacon. The dressing is made with mayonnaise and vinegar with a little bit of sugar. It is layered with iceberg or romaine lettuce. My younger sister didn't like green peas either.

Happy 4th and yes thankful!
A cornbread salad would be delicious
😊🎉
I enjoyed your videos and I also like Texas Pete Hot Sauce too
I call recipes a suggestion. 😊🇺🇸🇺🇸
Your sister made what we call English Pea Salad. The dressing is Mayo or Miracle whip.
Happy 4th of July, Leslie, Pastor Bryant, and family! Thank you for sharing this recipe from Paula Deen. It looks delicious, and is also very pretty! I love you guys, God bless you all, 🤗❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸🎇🎆
For your 3rd southern cook/chef, consider Vivian Howard, who is from Kinston, NC. Her PBS show, A Chef’s Life, was so much fun to follow.
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY LESLIE AND BRYANT! ❤🇺🇸
We always call adding stuff to our liking...."Churching it up"
My mom and dad always had Hoppin John for New Year's Day along with pork barbecue. This was their tradition and I miss those days with my mom and dad!
We call it a green pea salad - My aunt makes her's with mayo, green peas (can or frozen), onions & cheese.
Since this is a cold salad I think it would be good made a day ahead so the flavors could mingle.
Yes, recipes are just an inspiration, I always add my touch
Laura Vitale is a great cook. God Bless you and your family.
Oh my yes, I forgot about her❤️
Lemon blooms. I've made them 100 times by request. My daughter is a exchange student host and now that recipe is being made in Taiwan, Norway, and Italy. Any holiday, get together, invite to dinner, I have to bring them or everyone is disappointed. 🤷
There's a lot of competition in Facebook blogging

Happy 4th Leslie God bless our great country.. That looks yummy. Paula has good recipes
Tammy Nichols… should be your third she helped you in the beginning of you tube.. Happy 4th to all of you!
How about Brenda Gannt she is a great Southern Cook
yes she is.
However, she is a TH-cam host just like the farming pastors wife.
I TOTALLY AGREE ❤
Well, Paula Deen is also a You Tube host
Absolutely agree
I would add celery
Black beans would be good if you don't like the black eyed peas... It looks good!
I was thinking that instead of using the white rice, I might use riced cauliflower so that way it is not so carb heavy.
Happy 4th!! ❤️💙 God bless the USA. I thank God for America, the land of the free. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I haven’t heard you mention the old fashion candy you didn’t see at Stuckeys
Goo Goo Clusters

Brenda Gantt or Whippoorwill Holler too!
Hi Miss Leslie and PB. Happy 4th of July to you too. I would try this dish. I would add the cilantro like you said and lime. Hope you have a fun 4th. Can’t wait to see what you make tomorrow. 😊

We have a block party next week, now I know what I am bringing. Thank you!!!😊

Hey y’all ! Happy 4th of July !
I nominate Justin Wilson for week number three. Also, there are many TH-cam videos of his cooking to refresh your memory. Happy 4th
Could you show us how to make salmon patties in the oven from canned salmon. Thanks
🍚🍲🥣🥰👍😘♥️♥️♥️
The Galloping Gourmet, Nathalie Dupree, but the best....Julia Child!!!
I’ve never heard of black eyed peas before. Are they more sweet like a green pea?? Or just bland like a chick pea that people make Hummus with
Happy 4th of july to you all
Emerill lagasse would be a great one to use

I do a green pea salad. It has green peas, shredded cheese, pimentos, and chopped onion. The dressing is just mayonnaise

@kellymetcalf3690 Happy Independence Day to you and your family, friend. We're doing pretty good. How are you?!
Paula Deen does not disappoint! Justin Wilson would be a fun tribute, butt maybe you don't cook Cajun stuff. He was very entertaining.
Looks good! I think cilantro would make it tastier then the parsley. Cilantro also goes good with lemon or lime and of course any type of beans and rice! Will definitely be trying this but will use the cilantro instead of parsley! Thanks so much Leslie! And of course the wonderful Paula Deen!
Happy 4th of july ya all
Thank you for the recipe Bubbles!❤
Yum! The shirt is adorable, so nice of that person to make it for you.
It really is!
Looks good. I m not a fan of black eyed peas but it would be good maybe with a different type
Would love to see Pastor Bryant in the kitchen doing some things he makes or likes! You can tell he knows quite a bit about cooking and ingredients from the detailed way he does the taste tests. We know he is really busy but would love to see that at some point in time👍.

Tribute to Paula Deen? I thought she died with that title! I had to look up if she passed away. Please consider a new title.
Happy Independence Day! Honestly, that dish didn’t look good to me! 😂
Rachel Rae or Ree Drummond
Rachel Cooks With Love also a good cook
I love this salad!!
You can use the sweeter red, yellow or orange bell peppers if you don’t like the taste of green ones. I use the whole green onion. I’ve also made this with finely chopped blanched cauliflower instead of rice for a lower carb option, it turned out really well.

1 15-oz. can petite sweet peas (Le Sueur brand), drained
1 14.5-oz. can French-style green beans, drained
1 small jar of diced pimento

3 celery ribs, chopped or sliced
3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup vegetable oil
1/2 - 1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
I love this salad! Good for a summer gathering because it won’t spoil in the heat. Yummmmmy!😋
@@theshepherds2846it sounds delicious...
Love this salad. Make a large bowl full to eat on for a few days.
I would have used red peppers instead of green!!
Maybe you could do Emeril LaGasse for the 3rd week. His recipes are wonderful. His spinach artichoke dip is the best.
Happy 4th July to you and your family. Looks delicious
My favorite memories of my dad is old fashion southern pea salad. We were only ones who liked it! Lettuce, peas, hard boiled eggs, onion & mayo! It was our simple little thing we loved together. I make it for myself to remember the best Dad ever!!

I am pretty sure I would not like it since it has Black Eyed Peas in it. I do change up recipes if there is something in one do not like.
I’m loving this salad. I would substitute the black eyed peas for chick peas & throw in a handful of cilantro. Yum yum. To make it a little healthier you could even substitute the rice for quinoa. I don’t like quinoa by itself but love it in a salad.
