The acting by Noah Wyle in this season alone (and he's great in all the seasons) was outstanding, you would have actually thought that Noah was stabbed himself instead of just on the show and not just as Carter, that's how incredible he was here.
I cried like a baby when I watched this episode. Carter was so broken and feeling so guilt for what happened to Lucy... and I remember him breaking down after her mom left 'cause he had just lied to her yet he did it to may ease her pain... it was heartbreaking.
yeah felt bad for Carter after he loss Lucy it's like I wanted to reach through tv screen hug him tight and wanted to tell him that he wasn't his fault that Lucy died.
heartbreaking scene. carter was so nobel to lie about the pain to lucy's mom. It must have been hard for him to stay there and listen to what she sayed about lucy, like he said he didn't gave her the credit. poor carter.
Carter did not always treat Lucy well however I do believe he cared for her and made up for his last words with her when talking about her with her mother💔❤
The entire arc of this in season 6 was SO HEARTBREAKING. I remember watching it when it originally aired, like it was yesterday. And yes, I still tear up. There are many moments of this show I still cry at years later. lol
yes it's a heartbreaking season because on the one hand there was a part of childhood and innocence represented by the character of lucy and who was massacred and on the other hand there is an immense guilt that made us feel the character of Carter for me season 6 will remain the saddest
carter was screaming of pain when he was stabbed but he had to lie to the poor mother who is still thinking of every moment her daughter went through.... what is the benifit of knowing she died with pain
The fact he lies to protect Lucy's mother is so sweet and sad. :(. I dont get why ppl have to know what someone was feeling when something horrible happened to them. Its not gonna bring lucy back. There are instances where ppl feel it all and others that dont feel till later because of the adrenaline.
It's because it was her daughter. She'll think about it everyday for the rest of her life. She probably obsessed over it. She wanted to trade places, she was willing to endure pain a million times worse in return for her child feeling none.
I don’t think she was really curious about how it felt. I think she asked in hopes she would get an answer like she did because it would then bring her a bit comfort to know that at least she didn’t suffer.
I remember talking to a friend of mine who's mom died in a car accident on a freeway. She aked me about my car crash. I told her at first, I thought it was a dream..it all did happen very fast. I actually didn't feel any pain, I felt warm, peace..I even herd beautiful music when I closed my eyes. I remember a fireman's voice telling me to stay with him. Then when I looked at my friend she just had tears streaming from her face. She told me, "Thank you. Thank you. I always worried if my mom was scared or if she was in a lot of pain." I just hugged my friend. I noticed, she is not the first person..to tear up when i tell them my experiences..I know it gives the family some peace of mind knowing it was quick.
I think when Lucys mom asks if she can ask carter something he knew what she was goin to ask 💔 he answered in one of the kindest ways he could and thats true character and selflessness
actually i know someone that was bein stabbed some time ago, he was a security guy so he was used to be involved in fights and stuff - the wound was about the size of carter's wound and he told me once that he was so shocked and everything went so fast that he didnt really realize what happened u got all the adrenaline in ur bloodstream and i he said that it wasnt that bad - the pain later is the bigger problem i guess maybe the writers weren't wrong?
It's so fucking sad for both of them. The only comfort Lucy's mom could take from any of this is the thought that at least her child wasn't in pain when she died.
What a fantastic actor . Oh how I wish the show could come back I loved the show so much My kids knew E.R. was on and they knew its time to behave and be quiet. I am very proud of them what they've become Oops that another story lol
Even if she did because she, i can’t blame him to lie to Lucy mom. It hard for him to talk about, what it’s like to get stabbed. I probably will lie her too, because describing the pain having a blade piercing through your body. It’s something that you wouldn’t want to describe, what you were feeling in that moment as you almost faced death.
The pain he was in this episode was so... not cathartic. I hoped it would be, cause he was such an ass to her right from the word go. Up to the moment she got stabbed. His guilt didn't mean enough, but what a great lesson it was for me as a young adult, about kindness and respect to those who might no less than you.
Noah Wyle has gone so far as to admit that, even off-camera, they didn't treat Kellie Martin very well when she first came on the show. TBH, *nobody* treated Kellie Martin well when she joined ER, myself included. Usenet, which is the "granddaddy" of all the social networks we know of today, was unrelentingly harsh on Kellie Martin (specifically in the alt.tv.er newsgroup). Kellie Martin got a really, really, really raw deal when it came to ER, because in retrospect, I *truly* believe that Kellie Martin is a super actress and that she was "just" miscast on the show. The writing and direction for the character of Lucy wasn't the best.
@@storyofcory Lucy was incredibly popular with most people. Usenet was a tiny fraction of the millions who actually watched the show. I remember usenet from back in the day and show specific message boards (usually on the big unofficial fansites) were more popular than usenet.
@@storyofcory that's not true... I just listened to Kellie Martin interview, and she talked about how nice and welcoming everyone to her when she joined. In fact she says she became very good friends with Anthony Edwards, Alex Kingston, Laura Innes and Paul McCrane. And she's still close to them to this day. She pretty much mentioned everyone ( even George Clooney) except Noah Wylie, I guess she felt like if you don't have a nice thing to say don't say nothing at all. Also Noah wasn't only mean to Kellie but also he admitted that he treated Goran Višnjić, Erik Palladino, Michael Michele and other new cast members like shit because he felt he was losing screen time because of them. Noah was egotistical piece of shit. Please stop trying to make excuses for him. Because even he isn't trying do for himself which is a sign of growth as a person. I'm glad he changed .
He was on Workman's Comp for what happened. If they had a Rehab Center then he went where insurance said go. Don't know if he was rich again at this point (remembet he cut himself off from family money at some point).
@@jonstefanik9400 I'll admit I saw one episode of Gray's Anatomy and it was exceptional. However, some friends told me it was far from the normal show and so I didn't watch it again.

How Carter shakes his head no when he says yes. And the look that crossed his face when Lucy’s mom asks her questions... brilliant acting by Noah.
This was heartbreaking. Especially after Carter confessed to Benton he lied so she wouldn't know how much pain Lucy was in

Said, not sayed.
He is noble. Or it was the drugs. LOL!
That is the moment. When he lied to her Mom something in him broke and he had to hide from the pain of Lucy's loss.
Carter did not always treat Lucy well however I do believe he cared for her and made up for his last words with her when talking about her with her mother💔❤

What a classic episode, very powerful, kellie Martin should have won a Emmy for her performance. She was wonderful.
Yes!!!
If I’d have been in Carters position here, I’d have broken down completely. Especially when Lucy’s Mum was saying much Lucy respected and admired him.
Perhaps the best lie Carter told.

ER and China Beach were my two favorite games. I still binge watch ER.
I used to watch both. Never missed an episode of E.R. It was an amazing show. It is the blue print for Grey's..
I'm already crying...

Impossible to watch without crying.

He lied to her mom. He felt the stab would almost instantly before falling to the ground. And he was stabbed in the kidney. That had to hurt.
I liked this episode it's so sad what happened to Lucy and Carter I feel so bad for Carter and Lucy I Miss Lucy
Brilliant casting - as this actress bears a strong resemblance to Kellie Martin.
She does, doesn't she!
The scene where Carter got emotional and guilty cos he pulled rank on Lucy over Sobriki was powerful!
The lady playing the Mom is fantastic.

That's sweet about your children, we knew the same about Coronation Street when I was younger. That was so good about 25 years ago too!
Carter feeling guilty over treating Lucy like garbage.
The mom of lucy have a wonderful hair
Lucy was in love with Carter
I really wish he told her that he had feelings for her daughter.
Why? He didn't.
they kissed th-cam.com/video/QEis3YIKSG0/w-d-xo.html

the rare time when lying is the right thing to do

He really did love Lucy didn’t he?... really wish Kellie Martin didn’t leave... her and carter would have been a great match...
If she wasn't a medical student
Hermosos los video
Lied through his teeth like any decent human would do for her.
How did lucy diie n not john
She was stabbed in more critical areas, but what caused her death was a pulmonary Embolus. 2 surgeons tried to save her but they could not.
Because she was the first before Carter arrived, Plus I think she was laying there for a long time. Before he shown up and got stabbed.
Is anybody else doing a comparison between ER and Grey's Anatomy.....
ER was, and still is premium top of the pops, so to speak. That other show will NEVER hold a candle.
Don't watch either but ER is a much better show that actually focuses on being doctors rather than drama and having sex with each other.
Heartbreaking
Real life Carter would not be doing his rehab at a County Hospital
Right, he would've been in a much better place.
He was on Workman's Comp for what happened. If they had a Rehab Center then he went where insurance said go. Don't know if he was rich again at this point (remembet he cut himself off from family money at some point).
Gait belt! Gait belt! Gait belt!
I think the stabbing is also one of the reason he left
This is why dr Lewis came back
I hate that they killed her off.
I miss Lucy I hate the murder
What is this show called??
Jess Otawa ER
justice carter I like your last name.
Jess Otawa er !!!!
It was “er - All in the family season 6 , episode 14 ( I think ). “
Very sad to watch at the time..... Knowing the actual facts between how he treated her off camera is even worse. Look it up.
He admitted to not being nice and he apologizes to Kellie.
💔💔💔
He lied but I agree
