Michael Porter is brilliant when it comes Strategy. However he is the perfect example of why Academia Elites can't run business in the "Real World. " While Trump maybe an Egomaniac and very rough on the edges, Trump policy on Economy was historically unmatched. The Stock market soar, record low unemployment, a booming economy. Trump showed Academic theories don't translate in Real business. Michael Porter is not a billionaire.

His comments about Trump could easily be applied to Modi's party:
They are divisive, lacking in sophistication, and ultimately a destructive and chaotic force

I mean, I get that he remarks at the end how he's focusing on the economic facts about India and how he does not know much about the rest, but you can't really dump on Trump for his divisiveness and then just praise Modi without a doubt.

I just recently started tuning into Porters lectures and I have very similar views and understandings. His comments regarding Trump missed the mark a bit and I think his views are based on a flawed interpretation of events and trends. Either that or he failed to follow his own prescription of consuming and analyzing large volumes of disparate disconnected information to synthesize holistic understanding.
Trump was elected president because the “deplorables”, as Clinton labeled us, were fed up with the reprobates in government.
We represent the normally silent moral majority of law abiding citizens, and being the critical thinkers that we are, we recognized the corruption as being bipartisan. As such, we have no interest in “healing” or “coming together”. Our interest is in Draining The Swamp and restoring the republic.
The movement is one of “Give me liberty or give me death. This is non negotiable. This is a republic, not a democracy. As such, it doesn’t matter how many people want something, who wants it, or how bad they want it. If it violates our inalienable rights then it is unlawful and illegitimate.
Government will be put into submission and we will end the lunacy imposed upon us by the perverse and corrupting forces.
The “deplorables” are awake, angry, and mobilizing.

Trump is moving... lower and lower in the polls and out of Washington in November. What a dumpster fire, Porter was right what Trump should have done but 150k people have died because of his ineptitude.

Jerry Potts Well if there’s one thing we know for certain, it’s that statistics can be manipulated. They are basically worse than useless when someone has an agenda other than truth. So pretty much every stat that’s political is a lie.
The only thing worse is the person that’s dishonest enough to promote lies as truth.

@@merlingrim2843 You really like listening to yourself pontificate. Truth is 150k people have died, 50 million are unemployed, and we shrank our economy 32%. Trump is in charge and it's a dumpster fire. Real enough for you? What you are saying is just noise-- it means nothing, it has no point.

Jerry Potts now you’re just being rude. Do us a favor, take your meds, and come back to reality. The reality is that you are suffering from acute TDS, and Trump has absolutely nothing to do with how events have transpired.

Just an opinion, but might be wrong. Based on your profilepic, I assume you are quite politically motivated. Regarding Trump, media tries to portray every bad side of him for the sake of profit without a objective view. I would agree Trump has made good stepping stones (e.g. contact south korea). Personally find his aggressive stance on economical growth is not positive, especially regarding climate.
To more passive aggressive point: "debate: biden vs Trump. You have seen him debate. Would you really want a president that acts in such an manner to get his point across". Looking at older presidential debates, he literally made it a clown show. I am not American but still shocks me.
Of course this comment is not only about his 'manner' but rather how he 'is'
