I'll provide you with in-depth insights into the construction, materials, and craftsmanship that make the Solar Guitar stand out in the crowded world of electric guitars. Is it truly a long-term investment for serious musicians?
Whether you're a guitar enthusiast, a fellow Solar Guitar owner, or someone in search of the perfect instrument, I hope this review will help you make an informed decision.

Solar should make that finish available in all of their models, IMO. The aged wood and metal parts is one of the best guitar finishes that I've seen around.
I agree! A metal pickguard on an X type would be awesome imo
Solar should make all their guitars available in all the colors they offer
On my Solar T I had my frets leveled. Now it is awesome. The crack in the binding here as well.
Did you have the binding cracking straight out of the box, or did it develop over time?
@@mitchavedon it kinda developed over time. Hardly noticeable in the beginning.
I have an A1.6W and it came with cracks on the binding out of the box! I messaged them and asked about how it may have happened and they told me it might be because of temperature differences during shipping and gave me about $100 as compensation
Interesting, I didn't know so many of their guitars had this issue! Incredible guitars anyways imo
omg, that guitar tone melted me. its so good.
Hey thanks!
Great review, subscribed
Thanks!
I find that Solar guitars are the most comfortable to play and sit with out of any brand of guitars, so despite half of the ones I own having binding cracking, I own 6 of them and am looking into getting a 7th. My Solars also sound the best out of all my guitars, and my Evertune models in particular have saved me hours of recording and live show headaches.
I have had this exact axe for a year as well. I do like the articulate pickups but Im thinking there is a set I would like better. Pots have been very scratchy. Neck and handshake is amazing
I dig your 6505 recommendation as well 🤘
For sure, the 6505 is a steal imo!
The crack would be a problem for $1200
I bought a used a2.7 that has that crack as well. I was worried at first, but my guitar tech says its just a cosmetic thing, and he is pedantic as f
Solid video
Thanks man!
I've had my solar 2.6 ln since 21, I oil the fretboard annually. I have had no problems.
There's nothing scarier for a guitar guy to spend close to a 1000 eur on a new guitar, only to have the fretboard crack because of humidity changing
For sure, I always keep a humidipak in the case with this one
I thought about buying a solar v1.6afbb in a few years. Do they still have cracks on new guitars? ( i like kittie, and im going to atlanta to see them again since louder than life)
I got an S by Solar a couple months ago that was great, I'm pretty sure they fixed the cracking issues
Solar’s are solid work horses. I have a few. Mine never cracked. The switch needed replaced in one and the pots were filthy. Cleaned those up. I generally like them. Once you have one or 2, you don’t need anymore. They’re pretty much all the same at that point. The neck profiles are good! Pickups are fine imo. I like evertune bridges and that was the main reason I bought mine.
Totally agree! Can't see myself ever buying another guitar that doesn't have an Evertune now tbh
@@mitchavedon they’re good bridges but they’re not the be all end all imo.
@@mitchavedon I also think Hipshot bridges are good too. I do enjoy evertune and they’re really easy to use.
Why not? And Hulshout is just a fixed bridge.
How do you like the finish? The site says to beware that it might have dings and such, are there any really deep dings or anything, or just more superficial? What about the joints? IT mentions joints too.
I love the finish, it didn't have any dings or anything like that when I got it. It has a ton of dings now from me abusing it, but I think it adds character lol. The neck joint is flawless and feels super smooth, the neck itself also feels amazing.
@@mitchavedon sweet, they got that little warning on the site and it scared me a bit, I'm wanting the 7 string version of this, but for 1500 I don't want a truly "relic'd" guitar, I just want the distressed hardware look with the natural matte finish. Thanks.
I have 2x Solar guitars with cracks in the ebony fingerboards. A1.7AC and an A2.7. The cracks weren't there when I bought them. They happened over time. Not sure if living in humid ass Florida helped cause them or not, but it is what it is. My Evertune has a strange issue as well that the company couldn't even figure out and just bailed on helping me. Nevertheless, I still love my Solar guitars.
I would think the humidity would help prevent cracking but I guess it's hard to know for sure. What's the issue with the Evertune?
@@mitchavedon. Humidity Helps. Lack of Humidity causes cracking as the wood shrinks due to lack of moisture.
Swings and roundabouts, my first solars lacquer started to bubble pretty much all over the guitar so I sent it back.
Few years later bought a type G, tone nob was slack on arrival and the three way selector switch, was I quote from my guitar tech "knackered".
Solar tried everything under the sun not to give me a refund or replace the guitar, when I complained about it.
I saw the Suffocation t-shirt and immediately subscribed. 💪
Thanks man! Suffocation is so sick, got this shirt when I saw them with Death to All a few months ago
I have 2, 2.6 v ln and 1.6 v cannibalizmo, absolutely great guitars and worth the money
Hell yeah! I'd love to get one of their V models, so sick
🌞
I have the same model, but modded it with active emg deademons ... suburb guitar ... I might sell it for a decent offer
I’m not just interested; I’ve already decided it’s my next purchase.
Definitely a great decision!
Stainless steel is Ibanez's cryptonite. 3k+ but still nickel frets and plastic nuts lol. I also don't even try guitars in this price range without stainless steel frets anymore
For sure, I'd get an Iron Label Xiphos if it had stainless steel frets
The fret markers on my solars neck glow in the dark idk if that's the norm
Yep! I think most/all of them have the Luminlay fret markers
Well that's cool and I agree with your statement on improved guitar posture @@mitchavedon
I hate how they don't have inlays.
Het Some stickers 😌
Don't believe that you don't need to tune it. You need to tune it constantly so that bending works correctly
I usually just have to slightly adjust once every few weeks to keep the bending zone intact
Hype?!!! It's just endless marketing
What makes you say that? I see a lot of excitement around Solar in the metal guitar community
i highly doubt every person i've seen talk about it is paid in order to market it
I just ordered the T1.7AD IN ALDER just like this one and cost just inder 1700 after shipping and taxes from reverb cost me 250 for shipping
You're gonna love it, dude!
@@mitchavedon yeah i think so to and I have the same amp set up as you the line six and the helix , which size and brand strings are you using in this video ?
@@FkCriminalJoe I'm using Ernie Ball Hybrids 9-46 gauge
