I was just sorting out boxes in my loft, and came across my old Casio MG-880. Put new batteries in, but keypad is unresponsive. So it's now sat on my desk awaiting to go into surgery.

What battery model did you use to put in the MG880? I just found one in my old belongings

They released (likely only in Japan) another game calculator Casio MG-885 with the same case shape, which has a different game and (AFAIK) neither melody nor musical features.
As a kid I dismantled my MG-880 (eventually broke the LCD foil cable) and played the melody at full volume through my grandma's big livingroom radio. I still have the broken PCB of that calculator and later bought an intact specimen.
