This belongs to my Dad. Found it recently in a pile of old stuff. It used to entertain me for ages when I was a kid :) One of my best memories of childhood. It looks a little worn out, but still works great after a change of batteries (LR1130). The melody is "When The Saints Go Marching In", if I'm not mistaken.
    Hope you like the video.

I once played this game for about nine hours straight. My brother saw me playing it when he went to work in the morning, and I was still playing it when he got back. I just got fed up eventually, I had beaten it. In the end I just put it down and watched all my lives go. The score was on 880,220. I wish I'd taken it to a million now, but well...

I did the same thing when I was about 12, wanting to see if the score would display 1000000 but I gave up around the 444000 after a few hours. I always thought I was faster using one finger on each hand.

I've since learned that my parents had a "healthy" discussion about whether they would kick me off the game. I'm so glad they didn't. I guess I was at it for 8 hours or so. Crazy really.

My kids figured out which buttons to push to manually play the melody, just like I did in the 80's. After all these years I can still remember the sequence:
    1345
    1345
    1345
    3132
    3321
    3554
    345
    3131

Loved this, played it to death. Counted to get the most 'n' command ships with sequences adding to ten (1 then 9, or 2 then 8 etc) to get max scores....and learnt all sorts of tunes to play in the melody with 1 being middle C. Awesome fun machine

About 40 years ago these machines help a school chess team I coached win a state championship. How? My team had an edge in skill but was still losing critical matches. Then I realised there thinking and reflexes were too slow. I introduced the number invaders machines and after a couple of months, the team results started to match their skill level.
Number invaders may be considered old hat these days, but back in the early 1980s these could improve your reflexes and basic maths in a very short space of time.
    Thanks number invaders 😊

i took mine apart and reversed the polarizing film inverting the display to black background and clear numbers. Getting the most "n's" perfect scores was the object of the game. Taking it "round the clock" for it to go back to the start at level 1 took a while, but happened regularly.

    • @NoProb4Rob
      @NoProb4Rob 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I used to take things apart too. I had a little Turtle Bridge game in 1983. After my sister in a rage threw it against a wall I decided to inspect it. One wire had disconnected. I wish I had kept it now. It was just like this one th-cam.com/video/UuVS3wOomGE/w-d-xo.html

On the game, the 'n's appear when a calculation to ten has been made, your example doesn't show this. Just look for pairs of 2+8, 1+9, 3+7, etc or other patterns of 2+3+5. I used to get screenfuls of 'nnnn's and the closer they are to the lives bar, the higher you score.
