you are absolutely right about acrylic getting scratched super easy, i use clear tinting film for the opposite side of acrylic, its way easier to clean and doesnt get scratched and easy to replace.

This is a great build. I like that you were able to use acrylic for the whole enclosure and leave the edges so they distribute the muted light. The LED light strips are easy to work with and since you were wrapping it inside, you were able to make the box with the corners in the right place for the bend. That was pretty clever, too. If you do decide to make a video dedicated to working with acrylic, I think it would be very well received. I've had limited use with it and have had chipping issues, but this video helped me with that for future projects. And of course there's the problem with static buildup that attracts every piece of dust in the room, so I'd like to hear your ideas concerning that. Keep up the good work, sir!

Well, I for one have never left this maker a thumbs down. But when I do leave a thumbs down for a TH-camr, I rarely leave a comment. Somehow I feel that rubbing salt in the wound is not needed. But I understand what you mean; I guess it could be productive if done well. ;-)

I worked for an aquarium manufacturing company in the 1970’s. We built an infinity aquarium. The fish would repeat themselves to infinity. The downside was that the water had to be crystal clear… dirty water just got dirtier with each repeti on.

Great Job. Let me share another simple trick. If you have access to a Cricut vinyl cutter you can create a frosted glass name, logo or whatever you like and apply it to the back glass mirror. This will scatter the light and brightly illuminate the logo. If your mirror is acrylic use the frosted glass vinyl sold at Wal-Mart... last time I checked it is where the Contact paper is sold in housewares. If you want to go a bit fancier ON GLASS, you can acid etch the logo using the vinyl cut out as a mask. Armour etch acid is the brand I have. Thanks for the video!

    Great work dude.Excellent YT channel.
Regarding the edging detail-I think that 'frosting' brightens the outside relative to the inside so makes the inside 'appear' less bright so tinting or blackening the edge just stops that dazzle by absorbing the otherwise lost'stray light around the edge, increasing the contrast and thus making inside 'appear' brighter,as would e.g. a darkened room..

This is a project I’ve wanted to tackle after I seen one my Aunt had when I was kid. I have all the materials & knowledge but had the same thought process, WHICH VERSION SHOULD I MAKE? I’ve seen lots of idea’s & love to see how people add different methods for unique effects! Thank u for sharing all the exact details, taking the time to film, edit & post this diy. Hope u add the other versions u mentioned…pretty please!?😊

hey I've always wondered that do we need to put the Two way reflective sheet on the entire surface... or can we put it just under the LED strips? Like if the LED strip is on the circumference then we can put the 2 way reflective sheet on just the circumference of the glass plate? Will that work?
