- Looking for THINGS TO DO in WY? We take you on a tour of Fort Laramie National Historic Site in Eastern Wyoming. In this tour we go through the Fort Laramie and its history. Fort Laramie was originally established as a private fur trading fort in 1834. Fort Laramie evolved into the largest and best known military post on the Northern Plains before its abandonment in 1890. This “grand old post” witnessed the United States western expansion of the Oregon Trail and Native American resistance to encroachment on their lands. In addition, Fort Laramie was where the Treaty of Fort Laramie was signed. Where famous Sioux Chiefs came together with the delegates from the USA. Make sure to check out our Oregon Trail video. Hey Colorado Martini! So awesome you guys went to Ft. Laramie WY!! Butters Aunt and Uncle visited there before! Wild West History is so fascinating. Bears family traveled a few states via covered wagons.. Love that this park is free, and can't believe all the swallows nesting along the bridges... Thanks for taking us with you and what a beautiful place! 😘💖🌛
On that trip we saw so many swallows. They were all over Register Rock too.

LOL that intro, y'all 😂 Definitely some beautiful country out there. Endless views there, amazing. Wow, so much history there at that fort, some very sad history too about the Native Americans and that treaty. Thanks for the tips at the end about coming prepared with lunch and that touring the Fort is and all day thing... seems crazy that the area is still so uninhabited. Will be so cool to visit Wyoming one day, it's been on our list of places to visit for a long time!! Fantastic tour, CM!! ☀️💖
There are homes out there. But the town is pretty much closed down. Sad
We love Wyoming. We will have to check out Fort Laramie the next time we go. Didn't know that Tobasco was the oldest hot sauce, but it makes sense. Enjoyed the tour and history of the old fort. Wall bunks-that's cool, and obviously the officiers weren't sleeping in wall bunks. Those were some nice houses. Love the old bridge.
