My birth name is Anton and adopted name was turned into Anthony. I'm age 21 and did gymnastics 14 years. I've been in construction and some remodeling of houses for almost 2 years. I really like this project a lot. I wish you well in how you turn it into profit. And I am now new subscriber.
@@ANTONINJAPAN Hopefully not only shorts. I could watch touring your houses and watch renovation for hours. Since we've seen this old house (not as old as the house I live in Leipzig, Saxony, Germany) we've seen the potential it has and it turned out great, so much things you could save. So much work (and money). Shooji turned out most beautiful I think. how about a buddha statue or similar for the 床の間? I really like the choosen pinewood for the second floor, btw. And good to see that you used recycled wood, (I make upcycling videos myself), this is a great opportunity and way cheaper. I was happy to see the translations every now and then from Japanese, but as many of your worldwide viewers don't know all the words for all types of wood in English, it might help to fix the subtitles at least to help people to unserstand more. I think the pine in the bedroom looks beautiful! It brightens up the space!

Wowww!! I'm envious. I'm an architect, I love Japan and japanese culture, I'm studying japanese, I love the challenge of giving new life to old houses, in short, I love what you do. All my respect, thank you very much for sharing it and a lot of encouragement with the next houses, I will be watching what you are doing. 頑張って!!!!
I agree, breathing fresh air into 'older' homes is a lot of work, but rewarding. (The 100+ y.o. homes are AMAZING.) Good studying & get yourself to Japan. ✌
Your home is beautiful! Pine has been overused in US and usually has been associated with cheap, unsophisticated decor. This may be the reason you have gotten negative comments. I agree pine is beautiful and you have shown how versatile it can be.
I live in the US, and haven't seen even one house with pine in it. And it's not associated with cheap or unsophisticated decor, so have no idea what you're talking about.
@@nightskylights4501 Perhaps you haven’t seen it but it is around, usually in older homes, in paneling, flooring and furniture. No need to be mean in your comment.
@@valentinat3250As a realtor I can tell you that it’s associated with 1950’s and 1960’s basements and rec rooms. Very dated. Beautiful, yes, but very dated.
Love love love how contious you are of reusing materials and carefully plan design and respect the house itself. You really have a gift for it. Beautiful
Wow, the upstairs bedrooms look so cosy and inviting. Also love how the bathroom is divided into three sections so 3 people can use it at the same time when getting ready for the day. I would only add a small sofa if one can be fit in somewhere. North Americans love to plop down on a sofa/couch after being out for the day. Take care.
I love how you brighten the whole house inside with your choice of pine wood for the wall, ganbatsu wood for the floor and see through sliding doors. This definitely made the house feel bigger and also warm. Placing the ganbatsu panels for the deck vertically towards the front door and then horizontally made the space outside feel much bigger and softens the way the outside living space feels in the city. I love the saved tiles in the wet room and shower rooms! The wood bath and color for walls complimented the tiles beautifully. I love the way you kept the ceiling height to open up the bedrooms. You kept the functioning beautiful pieces of the home, restored it and brought it up to date. A beautifully well done work!
Wow this is beautiful! Very well done. It looks so cozy and home-y, totally different vibes compared to the before pictures! The colour of wood is welcoming. I'm glad I found a video like this, so neat!
Congratulations. What a great job. It looks perfect. And I really liked that you kept a lot of the original features. Especially the bathroom floors, because they are unique. And the reused wooden planks and the new ones are in perfect color harmony. The pine wall in one of the bedrooms is gorgeous in it's simplicity. I can imagine that the whole house smells divine from the different woods. And I really like the bathtub.
Congratulations its looking amazing. I love how it has lot of natural light and love how woody cabiny vibe there is yet has a certain modern traditional feel
For the main bedroom my recommendation is to put some sort of paintings on the accent wall and for the guest room altar like space could be used as bookshelf or a window bench for reading. Anyway I like the combination of white and wood for the interior of the house
It’s good to see that you try to save these old houses. I get the impression, that Japanese culture is more about tearing them down and putting up new buildings but I think ancient settlements really come alive by old houses being integrated with newer ones and it preserves a part of history. Especially when conserving the original character of the building and interior.
Wow, it looks amazing! From our perspective it went by quite fast 🤣 You put so much into this build and it shows! I would love to stay here on my next trip! Well done Anton, can't wait to see what you do next!
Love how you managed to keep that really unusual pebble flooring. Love the deck out the front. Black is spectacular on the exterior. Love the renovation. Well done and a guaranteed profit in resale. Congratulations you’ve done a wonderful job.
The kitchen needs more cabinetry. I would put a large cabinet above the washing machine. As well as a sturdy shelf above the window over the sink. Maybe a pot rack hanging from the ceiling.
Well done, Anton! It looks amazing and you are entitled to feel emotional about such a big achievement. I would perhaps put a small sofa in the alcover near the door, perhaps along the window. It's hard to find an Airbnb in Japan with a sofa and it could be a real selling point I think.
I have a friend who lives in Nakano and I've been around that area a lot (I live in Fukuoka). It's fantastic to see what you could achieve with such an old house.
Not going to lie. The whole comment around 2:40 bought you a fan for life with me. And I really needed that laugh. Don't know when I'll be visiting Japan but I do know where I'll be staying. Thanks and BTW the pine looks great.
It could use a bit of colour accents and more storage (and come on, the grey rug in the kitchen doesn't fit the warmth of the wood :) any other colour but that drab, cool gray ) - but leaving that in hands of new owners is a good choice as it's more universal. For AIRBNB, I would add colourful accents and some decor (from the old house? )- a few colorful, classic flea market rugs, a can of paint (deep, warm red or navy, deep slate grey on smaller ones ) on few accent walls or doors ( or a colourful, traditional wallpaper), a few prints would completely transform this space. I would paint the beams in bedroom to fit the black door trim and hang a few prints in black frames to add a bit oomph, plus a thick, chunky throw. Fantastic job.
It's like your baby. Be proud and keep doing what you do!!❤ yes of course you are having another project!! How exciting ❤ I am so glad you never gave up!! It is all so beautiful my favorite is still the staircase and the kitchen but I would chose the Japanese totami mat bedroom to sleep in for sure. Their comforters are really the most snuggliest ever❤❤❤
The people hating on the pine are just being snobby. Being fair there are a lot of hackneyed DIY projects across the USA that are honestly not well-made or somewhat less than safe. But pine is super strong for it's extremely light weight. Also, the older cabinets in the guest bedroom is really cute, and gives character and style. Nothing worse than going overseas for the culture, and staying in a room that is indistinguishable from a regular hotel in any US highway.
