The thing I love most about these videos is that they are entertaining as heck to watch. The small snied comments, the odd sarcasm, the periodic f-bombs (bleeped out),the sound effects, the comedy.. it's just too good. What a great direction for the 2nd video of the INT/FAI build, Plague Doctor absolutely love it and cant wait to try it out. Fun fact, the masks with the large beaks where designed to hold aromatic herbs to help mask the stench of the (dying) patients the plague doctors were treating. Good stuff!
Nah dude didn’t they stuff like rosemary n shit in their masks because they thought it purified the air; making it less likely for them to catch the highly contagious bubonic plague?
That's not a fun fact - it's a lie. The purpose of the plague doctor herb masks wasn't to mask the stench of dying patients. It was to block the disease from spreading, as people back then believed in the Miasma theory, which claimed that "bad air" or "night air" was the cause of ilnesses. They believed that bad smells directly caused diseases, and the aromatic medicinal herbs in the masks would give plague doctors "good air" and prevent transmission.

This is really great. Not just the build itself, but all of the extra details you added with your narration. I've been playing the game off and on since release, and I never got around to playing with the Sword of Night and Flame, because when I finally decided I was going to try, it got nerfed hard, and so I just stuck with my typical FTH or INT builds. Been wanting to do an INT/FTH build that also used Ancient Rancor as well as the Golden Order Disc Miracles. Now I can. 😊

I did respec my build to match the one in this build and it is awesome. I (level 125) originally ended up having about 20 more levels in DEX to make it stronger as a sword to the demerit of INT/FTH. But now I respecced and the sword still hits hard, so I guess I had all those levels in DEX for no real reason.
Death's Poker is just so so fun and strong. It is amazing how fun this build is.

I plan on using it in the dlc, but I think I’m gonna swap the staff and seal for the staff of the great beyond so that I don’t have to keep switching my catalyst while also switching my spells

With a few twists this can turn into a "Paladin" that got fed up with the way of light (like a cousin to your demonic paladin), but instead of using dragon magic, he opts for some dark sorcery.

This is exactly the build i wanted to use and this is the only caster build I've seen on TH-cam that wasnt some kind of hybrid meathead greatsword user.
That simple step-dodge at 7:53 is legendary. Gideon spilling the Comet Azur and you just "nah". Great video btw! I'm making a similar build but using the giant's flame incantations and some glintstone spells :) I'm not finished yet, but I'm using your build as a blueprint.

Death's Poker is absolutely an underrated weapon. Do not sleep on it. I think it used to be bad but got some love at some point. I seem to remember alot of ER builders were knocking it when the game first came out anyway and I think a lot of people wrote it off ever since.
Death's Poker is absolutely S-Tier. It is just so incredibly versatile and fun. It is imho one of the best and most fun weapons in the whole game.
People knocked it because it had a bug tied to the weapon art.

here's a better build idea especially since your 'early/mid game' sore seal made it to your lvl 150 build lol ; wear both the spell blade's gloves and boots (increase that slight spell affinity), keep the marionette helm, and wear the bullgoat armor. 59 poise. all silver/gold accents. the radahn red just kinda threw the build everywhere aesthetically. I like the bullgoat cuz it looks and feels metal af, the build is more yellow/gold-centric, complimenting the staff. it just smacks imo

I 100% would have gone with malikeths helm and the night cavalry for everything else the pure back cloth and metal with the helmet keeping the basic mask shape but adding the hair and gold accents would have been a perfect look for this build

One more thematic thing that I love to use on a death theme build is Death Ritual Spear, like Death's poker just for the AoW. In my experience it absolutely OBLITERATES enemy groups in a way more thematic way than the SNaF fire wave, and it also only scales with INT despite the weapon pretending otherwise.
Just beat every from soft game and really don’t want it end. Never on any of these games have I used any kinds of spells. Going to have fun with this thanks good sir

In terms of the look, I might recommend the headpiece you're using with Fia's Champion robes + heavier legs and arms to increase poise and defence.
A shield could also be used to compensate so that the weapon loadout on left hand is Order Seal + Shield (Jellyfish for it's L2 perhaps) and right hand is SOFAN, Death Poker and staff.
Also on left hand a light weapon that allows equipping Loretta's Greatbow skill might help, as you'll have that in loadout as well.
Not sure you mentioned Flame Grant Me Strength as I love that on all builds with Golden Vow.

Just tried this build out last night on NG+ and I gotta say this build is pretty baller! The damage is great and you look like a badass while tearing through bosses and enemies! Best build recommendation right here!!

I think this would be a great NG+ build, taking it up to 250 like you showed. Really dump truck those stats and just destroy. I have been wanting to find a way to utilize some hybrid of incants/sorceries. I love the death sorcery spells but just couldn't figure how to justify the stat dump into faith on a sorcery build. This makes it make sense. Also I think I'd still utilize the SoNaF as my main close range melee back up weapon for those times you get jumped unexpectedly. Another great build my friend, keep up the good work.

so ... finally got through the game with this build (got a little bit distracted by the assa dagger build - and loved playing it, although it is way harder than the doctor). Through by using it for a (nearly) 100% run in under 65 hours total (yes I stayed in game sometimes during pauses). As I said two months ago: sick build. Great configuration, even easier if you use mimic (what I did for testing purposes) and also great in soloing bosses. Didn´t manage to kill elden beast solo, got me with his god damn rain short before it died but the kill didn´t count. Worst enemy in my eyes was the Tree Sentinal in Farum Azula. I can´t get used to this god damn horse fire and his stupid lightning attacks. Had to cheese him with rotten breath.
But all in all: such an OP build (especially when it comes to possibilities to alter slightly with incantations and spells).
That's a very cool Theme actually. I use the Pocker on my IceChar with the Zamor Sword and yeah, it's Just cool. But this Combo here seems cool

I love your videos, all your builds are great and ive tried quite a few. Would love to see something unique like a Purfumer type build that utilizes a lot of different bombs/purfumes and other consumables.

When I first played elden ring u used your dragon build and beat the game. Came back and now I wanted to do a intelligent build but it was kind of boring so I'm so glad I found this. I always wanted to use the depth poker just thought it was not good but I didn't know about it that much but I'm also going to use rosus axe into the build since it has death written all over it and it's very cool. This is a very fun build. I wanted to do faith and int but didn't know how but now I do
I currently have the Death Mage build up to level 70 and am doing Ranni's quest line. About to fight Radagast (pun intended) to advance Sorceress Sellen's quest line). I beat the God Serpent killer Rakar? last night, but with your archer build. Took me tons of arrows, as he has two phases and thousands of HPs on each phase.
getting a dagger and putting flame art on it gives it faith scaling, resets frost, and contributes to the witch doctor aesthetic

There are a couple of possible INT/FAI scaling weapons, namely the erdsteel dagger and the claymans harpoon with magical and holy ash of war respectively. Also the frenzy flame seal has INT/FAI scaling

Thanks brotha. This build is actually so meta in PVP if you're using sword of night and flame predominantly. I was trying to do that flame rogue one the other day in PVP. While it was great for PVE, I was getting destroyed by other players. Maybe I wasn't using it right, but it was a lot of fun regardless. THIS one however goes hard af in PVP. 9 out of 10 times I'm winning duels. People can't handle 20 things homing on them while I'm running at them with the sword and bombarding them with flying bullshit.
for aesthetics i’d say the bloodhound helmet would match aesthetically better, along with it being more bronzy it could fit in with other bronze/leather sets
Very similar to my build and I've always thought faith/intelligence becomes quite viable with more leveling. Of course, Sword of N&F is the go-to, but I have a build that makes use of a bunch of stuff. In my right hand I have the Royal Greatsword and Carian Regal Scepter and in my left hand I have the Golden Order Seal and Sword of N&F. My spells swap back and forth between sorceries and incantations (Explosive Ghostflame, Black Flame Ritual, Rykard's Rancor, Triple Rings of Light, Adula's Moonblade, Frozen Lightning Spear, Zamor Ice Storm, Burn, O Flame!, and Carian Phalanx). In that order, I can consistently switch back and forth between my seal and staff for close- and long-range attacks that deal fire, frost, magic, faith, and lightning damage, on top of having three ashes of war. Wolf's Assault does great AoE frost damage, Spinning Weapon stacks great damage with talismans, and the Sword of N&F is great if you want to style on someone with fire or magic damage. You can swap easily between Royal Greatsword/Golden Order Seal to Royal Greatsword/Sword of N&F, or you can go Carian Regal Scepter/Golden Order Seal to Carian Regal Scepter/Sword of N&F. Either way, your close- and long-range options are both covered, dealing massive AoE or status damage. I'm looking to fill the final two slots with a shield and some 6th weapon, but I haven't decided what I want yet. I'm wearing the Greathelm, Sanguine Noble Robe, Carian Knight Gauntlets, and Hoslow's Greaves, all of which look amazing with the weapons. Truly a versatile build, from its fashion to its combat options. I call it Henosis.
I used Death Poker and Blasphemous Blade to finish off my first run through, so I didn't want to use it once I respected my levels to include sorceries with my incantations from my faith build. Death Poker is a great weapon, but I find it has a 50/50 chance of working in PvP. It can be devastating, especially when you have a second great sword to duel wield, but I like my new set up much more. The spinning weapon ash of war on the Carian Regal Scepter is a great close-range option for catching people rolling or attacking because they think they have the advantage at close range. With Death's Poker, if you miss the initial poke of the ash of war, it's very easy for people to dodge the explosion.

Thank you for another great build! I've already done a SoNaF + Prince of Death Staff run through the game, but I've been jonesing to try Death's Poker, so I'm going to go for it. I think I'll skip SoNaF and reset Frostbite with fire spells, but I'll let you know how it goes. Journey 4, here we come!
Very interesting build and very surprising direction. I think 9/10 people would go SoN&F woth PoD staff without thinking twice. The frostbite+fire aow combo is really cool. I am hoping to take something very similar into NG+ in a couple of weeks.
Three concerns I have regarding this though:
1. Maybe it is possible to max-out the frostbite aspect of the build further? Currently you have Death Oker's AoW and Explosive Ghostflame inducing frostbite buildup. I wonder if this would be enough for enemies with some resistance to frostbite. Maybe utilizing freezing pots/some fast frostbite spell could allow for fastnbuildup so you always get that 20% bonus to damage?
2. This build combines the melee R1/R2 attack of death poker with its AoW, but those scale with Dex if I understand correctly. How much does increasing Dex change the damage output of this combined attack? I wonder if this might have some potential to increase damage output. Also since the AR of the weapon is probably pretty low with this setup, I wonder if it's better to switch to the SoN&F in situations where you want to conserve FP (maybe alongside a shield?)
3. Black flame protection is so good! But I wonder if the combination of the 40 Vig and Radahn's armor makes you tanky enough in non-boss-fight situations, where you don't cast this incantation. How much endurance do you need to add to get Radhan's full set for instance?
4. I guess Flame Gant me Strength doesn't work on this ghostlfame spells and AoW, what a shame

I did a similar thing with my ng+ build but without a proper theme and all I can say is with 80 faith and int with a bunch of defensive buffs you are doing a lot more damage showcased here and hitting up to 70% resistances with certain gear. Basically elden ring on easy mode

On my AngelOfDeath death's poker guy it was the easiest time I ever had with Maliketh. You would imagine that since he moves around a lot that the weapon art would be hard to hit, but he has openings and he just melted from the Art+R1

DON'T use any Soreseal or Scarseal at anything but low levels, you're just increasing the damage you're taking while receiving very few returns in terms of stats. Low levels meaning anything below 50 or so - though you could stretch a Scarseal to around level 70.
Seriously. It makes you go from tanking 3 or 4 hits with one health bar at 60 Vigor to 6 or 7 hits per health bar. Scar and Soreseals are not at all like the Prisoner's Chain, they actually have a major downside.
I’ve been thinking about this too. In terms of the benefits he brings this up too, either in this vid or others…+5 vigor,for example, has diminishing returns as you level up obviously. vs, say +10% vigor.
Do we know the damage negation or the other downsides on these soreseals scale that way too?
