What is incomprehensible is that Fender did not think offering Ty a Signature Stratocaster ... In the 80s he was one of the few to offer a unique and exceptional guitar tone.
That's right! I always wondered the same thing. Those Elite strats were fantastic. He stopped using them because they were on the noisy side, despite the active pickup system designed by Fender. If they could have refined that and worked with him, perhaps put EMGs in them, he could have kept using the Elite. He had a tone like nobody else. That active single coil tone though some very interesting solid state amps was very unique at the time. I like going between humbuckers and single coils and out of all the pickups I own I prefer the EMG 81/89 set I put in my cheap Schecter Deluxe. It sounds like a million bucks. I also love the Duncan Full Shred and Jazz combo on my strat. They coil split very well. The Full Shred is one of the most well defined humbuckers I've ever used. It's name does it no justice, because it's about much more than shred. It's like a Duncan Custom with an A5 mag and tighter, faster response. It works well for my style which includes very high speed alternate picking. It tracks more clearly than any of my DiMarzios. You've got to experiment with guitars and amps and pedals to get the right tone. The rest of it is all in the fingers.
His strat elite and Gibson amp combo was ‘it’ for me. Nothing, No one has ever come close to having such a identifying tone on record than his Gretchen/FaithHopeLove era albums. Please Ty, just one more album with that set up.
Been a big Kings X fan for a long time, but never listened to Ty's solo albums until I chanced upon this just now. Listening to Alien Beans just now and it's utterly fantastic. Great riffs, great production, great vocals, reminds me of so much of what turned me on to Kings X in the first place. Ty is a fantastic musician, composer and producer.
Regardless. The music - even if it is King's X - on the background is too loud. It is distracting for the most part, at least for my taste. It takes away from the interview. Less is more I'd say.

His tone with the Dual Rec. was epic. Dogman was such a heavy album.
A really great Man, and musician. I love his works, sounds and mentality. Cheers from hungary!

Awesome!
Isn't it cool there are companies that are approaching Ty with "Try this ...and What do you think?" cutting edge.
ADAT's in 2010? They still worked or still in the rack.
What's the song playing in the background that starts at 0:49 seconds?
+Bill Dutcher "Black like Sunday."
Bill Dutcher You are the man! I was wondering that same thing! Cheers! V
inspiring
Now he is back to Strats and using Oranges...
Is he using his Strat Elites or standard Strats?
Cool. I wonder what made him switch to regular Strats.
Herrick Elites are nightmare guitars to play without terrible feedback and noise.
Tremendous
and now we need a part 7: mexican strats and orange amps.
lolol
Wow, there`s hope for us yet if people are thinking green in Texas!!!
Right..I'm sure he's still powering his studio with solar..lol
See Xr-1 les paul/ decent job of strat/paul
Another interview with cheezy, distracting, music in the background.
You're kidding right? The majority of the music is kings x

@@lobsterclown5224 its not about the music itself, but about how its being used. its way too loud and distracting
No pollution... except how you poisoned the earth to MAKE the solar panels...
What’s the background TUNE at 5:45 ?
It sounds like Not Just For The Dead from the self-titled album.
Trip Magnet - Door Number Four (Ty Tabor)
