I’ve always thought he was a terrible actor, but seeing his scenes all so close together, I never realised how horribly manipulative Dreary Cleary was! He cannot accept no, and keeps hassling Meg and using her sexual assault against her until she finally relents. That’s disgusting and makes him almost as bad as the rapist!
Sub-par acting from Steve Kuhn here but, got to say, he's not helped by the dialogue. Some comically clunky lines. Poor bugger. And what a list this has been! Hours of entertainment, a towering achievement. Superb work 👏👏👏
What on earth were the writer's thinking keeping dreary Cleary around for so long? Anyway thanks for the list, although there are a couple of characters I would of included, the supposedly paralysed Tracey Belman, boy was she annoying, and Mervyn Pringle.
Not a bad choice but if I were to choose a bad character, surprisingly, I'd go for a two-way tie. Nancy (mother) and Peter (son) McCormack. The obnoxious duo were involved in the death of Nancy's husband. In reality, he tripped over and banged his head on a wooden table, which proved fatal, whilst engaging in a fight with his son. The scriptwriters, as well as the plot makers, are dumb enough to make her do something she should not have done by unlawfully burying her deceased husband. If that's not enough, she took the wrap for the death of her husband and the police charged her with murder. (In reality, she should've been charged with negligent manslaughter since she was too upset to call the ambulance when her bullish husband was seriously hurt and her son would've been charged with attempted assault on his father. Otherwise, they both would've been charged with perverting the course of justice following the man's death.) Nancy spent over 50 episodes during the last series inside the prison and she never was put on trial which I find totally outrageous. Even the boat plot was so stupid that the scriptwriters thought it was great for prisoners on remand, like Nancy who is charged with a serious offence, to get involved when there was actually no need! When Peter visited her with his new wife, who was pregnant, I thought we were going to see something very special and presumably, he could help his mom out when dealing with the impending trial. He might even own himself up to make sure his mother can walk home free but NO! What does he do? He bashes up his wife because of the psychological effects he suffered by the hands of his father during childhood as Nancy recalls about it whilst being in solitary after being blackmailed by the rotten screw, Rodney Adams, as he requested information on the whereabouts of Joan Ferguson in the aftermath of the stupid boat plot. The last episode to feature both Nancy and her son was absolutely insulting and erronous. It caused a collision course between the wife bashing and the connections involving the death of Nancy's husband. It made Nancy so unlikeable then and that's why both she and her son are the joint top worst characters of PCBH.
God, this guy was Awful. You knwk, I actually thought he was the masked man who attacked Meg. I thought there must be SOME reason behind this guy's presence in the show.
God he was a bore! Dreadful acting and woeful characterisation, if only him and Gay Ray had an affair and made out in the prison kitchen to the outrage of Dot Farrah it would’ve been something. 😅. Still think Jenny Hartley was worse but “Wolfman” was definitely Top 5. 😅. Thanks again for this list, it has been such fun!

Marcia Birdsworth was a terrible character.
Also Gail Summers. Gail started strong but after one or two episodes she went downhill real quick.
