      Workaround: use "Color Dodge" blending mode. You'll get the same type of effect playing with the color selection and "Spread".Thank you for reporting this recent change. Unfortunately it breaks my tutorial. I think it was removed by the Krita team in recent versions probably to be more PSD compatible with Photoshop... Difficult to satisfy this big user base! (I'll pin your comment to help other and add it on the description).

      I've been looking through tutorials trying figure out how to get this type of glow, other than using the color dodge way(s). I am working in Krita 5.0.6 and it works exactly as you showed and explained.This helped out so much, thank you!

    Hey guys if you can't get it working I just realised this;
    When you click blending options > outerglow > theres actually a little tiny check box you need to TICK for the FX to show up.

    I was looking for Krita-based tutorials on how to do magical effects for a book cover and this one really hit the spot, especially when you got into how to do the particles. Just what I was looking for! Afterwards I watched a few other tutorials by other folks and realized just how well your presentation was done: timelapses at the appropriate part, no meandering talk, just simple instructions and great visual examples. Thank you for all you do for the Krita community!

      Artistlife1 He's been active and using Krita for years, so he's been putting his time in. Probably spent a lot of time exploring and poking around.
      Also, the krita group made tutorial videos awhile ago called...Muses? I think it was. I purchased them a year or two ago from the Krita store.It had a lot of technical information on how to use Krita. I'm not sure how up to date it is at this point.
      Also, there is a Krita reddit that may be helpful for you. Krita is a huge program to get to know, I'm overwhelmed sometimes!
      Good luck.

    My brushes aren't behaving the same as the exact ones in the tutorial, the colors all have very crisp edges and there's very little smudging to blend out the colors with. both with my tablet and with a mouse.

    • @DavidRevoy
      @DavidRevoy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, it sounds like your tablet doesn't support pressure on the tip of your stylus, or have a badly calibrated pressure. Please report to the Krita developper with the name of your operating system, version of Krita, version of your tablet and driver.

    • @DavidRevoy
      @DavidRevoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, no idea. I don't own any android tablet and never tested Krita on it. GMIC is part of Krita since 5.0; if it is missing on Android, it's probably a developer decision or a bug on Android. Please contact the Krita team and ask them about it. Good luck!

    • @DavidRevoy
      @DavidRevoy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, yes. Krita developpers decided to limit the blending mode of the layer-Fx to the same list than Photoshop at Krita 5 and later. I have no idea why. You can use Color Dodge or Screen as a workaround.
