It didn't hit me at the time, but yeah. Pucchi, having watched Jotaro's memories, knew exactly how to put him in a situation where he couldn't keep his cool. What a great detail.
I mean, yeah. 1) He sees his daughter, who he's been forced to stay apart from for almost the entirety of her childhood, who he has started to actually bond with, in a seriously life-threatening situation, 2) The enemy is literally a close friend and follower of DIO, who *obviously* gave Jotaro loads of PTSD, 3) The barrage of knives is a clear callback to what DIO did to Joseph, and later Jotaro, and 4*) He sees Pucci's eyes move and look at him in stopped time, showing that Pucci is WAY more dangerous than Jotaro expected. All of that, it would DEFINITELY freak Jotaro out. *Mista's gettin' some terror now, too
Pucci during this fight was honestly more terrifying than DIO. The fact that he didn't mess around and was affecting the whole universe just makes him so much of a threat.
I think he was more threatening but the build up in part 3 was much better imo. I was kinda hoping the baby would be the reincarnation of Dio or something
Jotaro’s development from being an edgy teen who punches things that pissed him off, to a caring father who was more than willing to sacrifice himself for his daughter, is legendary.
I love how Araki handled Jotaro’s PTSD with DIO and everything that happened during Stardust Crusaders. I just wish Jotaro was in part 6 more but I understand that at this point, Jotaro is too strong for conventional stand battles. Hell, Jotaro even could’ve ended the fight with Pucci several times but either had an obstacle or fate favored Pucci. (Aka the plot demanded Jotaro be nerfed and -1 IQ)

Just a reminder that Jotaro died, not only realizing that he lost his only opportunity to kill Pucci with Anasui dead, but he couldn't even protect Jolyne from the knives considering she still got stabbed by one anyway. What a terrible way to go out.
Wont really matter cuz universe reset made their life a ton better. If anything you should feel sympathy for emporio cuz he has the burden to carry on the knowledge of what really happened and their memories together.

I remember that when I was reading the manga, this was the exact moment Jotaro became my favorite character of all the Jojo universe. Seeing him so frustrated, sad, with fear and showing just so MUCH emotion for the situation and Jolyne was heartbreaking.

I think the most poignant part of this entire situation is the horrifying realization that she’s in the EXACT same situation he was at her age, and Jolyne doesn’t have a defense against it so Jotaro is crushed under the terror of failing her. Dude barely even broke a sweat when staring death in the face hundreds of times before but you break a parent when you take their only daughter.

@@adityannair8951 also remember that DIO was a vampire and essentially had unlimited energy which allowed him to time stop as many time as he wanted and also allowed him to continue time stopping as long as he wanted to (granted he got killed) during part 4 and the start of part 6, he could only stop time for 2 seconds because he never bothered using it after the egypt trip. after waking up, he was back at his prime since he could stop time for 5 seconds(same as the end of part 3). i guess he was nerfed but it made sense. from jotaro's perspective, star platinum:the world is just another reminder of DIO and the bullshit he sent a 17 year old through.

Idky so many people are opposed to Jotaro having ptsd from fighting Dio. Him seeing Dio behind Pucci makes it pretty clear that fighting Dio was engraved in his mind so much to where he literally SEES HIM when someone else does his move. It doesn't make him any less cool it makes him more genuine as a person who had to fight a cruel villain

Honestly I wouldn't say "nailed it". There's no fear in that scream. It just sounds like a regular war cry if anything. And whoever drew his face didn't do a good job. All-in-all, 2/10 adaptation.

That scream of horror is a sense in the fact Jotaro knows he failed. He couldn't end Pucci then and there, nor could he save Jolyne. Their deaths here were truly tragic.
He knows he can end pucci. He knows he has to end pucci. But he also knows that if he doesn't save Jolyne now, she will die because he didn't save her. So he saves her, but he knows he lets Pucci win by doing so, and it drives him nuts. His scream is of the realization that his attachment to his daughter is gonna sacrifice everything for her, and the anger and pain of knowing that not even she will be safe in the end. At least that's how I see it
If Jotaro didnt save Joylne he couldve beaten Pucci. Man would rather lose the entire world than have his daughter die, and yet some people still say he doesnt care about Joylne.
I love that Jotaro has always been the "stoic cool guy", which made him appealing to the audience but also made him a pretty poor parent, at least from Jolyne's perspective. The only times he was able to openly express how much he cared for his daughter were when he lost his stand and memories, and when he lost his life. He wasn't able to save his daughter when she was 14, but he did all he could to save her then.
I like that flaw of him. Yes, the whole universe is at stake here, but losing your one and only kid is a bigger nightmare to a parent. Pucci really took advantage of Jotaro being really attached to his family. It just sucks that people think that Jotaro is a bad dad, this is the biggest, most obvious example he cares, and the reason he was away from his family for so long was because he didn't want to endanger their life from Enemy stand users.

*Imagine the terror it must have been for Jotaro, who believed that killing Dio had ended the curse, only to see a ''new Dio'' about to kill his daughter years later. Pucci and Dio were torture for the Joestar family and everyone around them.*
im actually sobbing watching this again cause if you cant tell, jotaro is my favorite character and seeing his true gutteral emotions come out when seeing his daughter in the same position as him decades ago is truly horrific. he could never escape his trauma
I think that outside of the PTSD, Jotaro realised their last resort failed and there was no stopping to what would follow from then on. The screaming came out from feelings of being powerless to do anything to stop Pucci.
I mean, he probably could have stopped him. No big deal, just stop time in the exact fraction of a nanosecond Pucci's sprint around the earth happens to put him firmly in your range. He completes something like 980,000,000,000,000 rotations around the planet in roughly the time it takes a human to blink, so that's like, a ton of chances. Easy. Easy stuff.

It's actually heartbreaking to hear him scream. Imagine seeing your only child about to die in front of your eyes, I can only imagine the grief and panic he felt at that moment 😢
I remember reading the manga and being confused as to why Jotaro couldn’t quickly knock out Pucci; but seeing this animated put it into new light. His PTSD was so high the minute he saw his daughter about to be in the same situation he was in, his reaction time basically slowed down and he acted on his instinct first :(( and Pucci manipulated that instinct
The end of Stone ocean implies they're alive but their lives changed. Jolyne and friends had a entire rebuilt life. Pucci was deleted, not Dio, so the Jotaro of that timeline has less changes.

That scream hit so hard for me, Jotaro was terrified and felt a huge amount of distress, knives taking the life of his grandpa and daughter was the hardest PTSD I've seen in awhile for a character. Anyways, Stone Ocean is a masterpiece
Jotaro could have land the finishing blow to Pucci, but the fact that he chose to save Jolyne than to kill Pucci shows that he really cares about her daughter.
He shows plenty emotion, it's that people don't gravitate toward the introvert type. Everything thing is there, from humor to anger, it's just more subdued as introverts are prone to be You can't identify the hero in something you don't understand. Off topic, but this is the reason Jolyne can't see Anasui. He is absolutely invisible to her, despite being one of the most useful stand users in this entire part That's how the audience sees Jotaro. The guy who stands around, but then his stand is always screaming and punching. Which is fitting that gets shoehorned into the Goku role of "show up at the last minute to take down the bad guy" Just to be murdered completely
@@dovakin_billie Yes but also *fear*. It’s a scream of horror and fear. He loves his daughter and her dying is probably far more of an indescribable fear for Jotaro then thought of himself being harmed. It’s fear for his daughter’s life, fear for having Pucci so close to defeat but knowing he will not give up on his daughter even if it means the world ending/letting Pucci go to save Jolyne. It’s the fear of knowing not only that their final option/gambit had failed but also that he and the group or utterly out of options. This was the last resort and Pucci checkmated Jotaro and he knew it like you said. But the scream itself I interpret as more horrified and fearful than the usual Jotaro “I’m angry/pisses now!”. It’s vulnerable. Jotaro is vulnerable here.
In the end, his decision to save Jolyne actually led to the best outcome. If Pucchi had been killed at this moment, everyone including Jolyne, Anasui, and Weather who had been sacrificed would be lost forever. But Emporio being the one to deliver the final blow allowed everyone to live on in a world free from the Joestar curse.
@@roeital5504 DIO still exists, it's just pucci that doesn't since he was killed in the first universal reset. Everything from part 1-5 happened, but part 6 didn't. Also, DIO didn't create stands, lmao.

Irene is subconsciously drawn to emperio cuz the heart doesn't forget because the heart doesn't work.. in simple terms the memories are gone but the maternal feelings she had are not gone even as Irene
I love that he saw Made In Heaven, a stand that's objectively terrifying, that close to him, knowing that as soon as time resumes he's most likely get them both, and kept his cool as usual but freaked out when he saw how deeply in danger his daughter was
What i love about this final encounter is that when we first see made in heaven it’s when time is stopped, you see this terrifying new power that’s coming for you as soon as time resumes, and there’s not much you can do to stop it. These final two episodes were incredible.
Tbh this is exactly the same scream he did at the beginning of the 47th episode of Stardust Crusaders, during the fighting agains Dio. And yes, there was exactly this soundtrack in background.
I'd scream, too, if I saw someone using that Knife in Stopped Time trick, again, after that same someone gave me a taste of my own medicine by moving in my Stopped Time earlier.
I feel so bad for Jotaro here Not only must he have been fucking panicking at the thought of losing his daughter but the mere sight of that many knives in frozen time must've absolutely activated his PTSD of his fight with DIO
Pucci really was right, Jotaro's love was his strength and his weakness, it drove him to conquer fear fighting Dio and in this moment he succumbed to fear and lost. It does speak to the depth of Jotaro's love for his daughter that he would knowingly die and sacrifice the universe and all of humanity to protect her for just a few seconds longer.
It's sad to remember that Stone Ocean itself started because Pucci hoped that Jotaro did care about Jolyne, she remained his biggest weakness to the end.
Real alpha male, well educated, has a good job, experienced with his job, and now he turns out to be a loving father. Even a man with so huge balls is allowed to cry
That scream says a lot about how Jotaro was utterly terrified of how Pucci played him with the same trick Dio did back in Cairo. Even in the face of death he always managed to keep his composure, but the thought of having Jolyne killed by the knives (and thus nullying the entire plan Anasui made) is what really made him lose it. Jolyne thought he was a bad father. He never openly expressed his love for the daughter... until this moment.
plus losing Iggy, Avdol, and his boy Kakyoin and nearly losing his grandpa all on the same day. An on multiple times he nearly died facing the toughest opponent he faced at that point.
Even though I had already read the entire Jojo series by this point this scene still hits hard, the first time in the entire series where Jotaro is truly powerless against a stronger oponent.
He spent her whole life not knowing how the hell to do this "Father" thing. Being bad at showing affection, not wanting her to get pulled into the supposed curse that haunts his whole family. Too much of a tough guy to risk being open with someone so close, like that ridiculous 'insulting my mom then risking my life to save her' thing, haunting him until... "Young fool. Only now, at the *end* , do you understand."
I think this is the moment where it is confirmed that Jotaro has PTSD and a reminder of DIO brings him emotional damage. And then Pucci decided to pull a DIO to give Jotaro absolute emotional pain.

that scene hurt, i remember seeing it in the book when I was younger and almost cried realizing its over, but that's why part 6 is my favorite part, it taught me to make memories in life cause that's the only thing you will have left sometimes.
Pucci was right Jotaro's weakness is his daughter. And there was nothing Jotaro could do in this case, other than sacrifice himself to protect Jolyene. He would rather die instead seeing her dead 😭
I loved this fight it was a grave contrast (literally and figuratively to Dio v Jotaro) Piccci during the fight never lost his cool but jotaro did for the first one that’s why he is the best villain also favorite stand is MIH

Idky so many people are opposed to Jotaro having ptsd from fighting Dio. Him seeing Dio behind Pucci makes it pretty clear that fighting Dio was engraved in his mind so much to where he literally SEES HIM when someone else does his move. That scream of horror is a sense in the fact Jotaro knows he failed. He couldn't end Pucci then and there, nor could he save Jolyne. Their deaths here were truly tragic.
He knows he can end pucci. He knows he has to end pucci. But he also knows that if he doesn't save Jolyne now, she will die because he didn't save her. So he saves her, but he knows he lets Pucci win by doing so, and it drives him nuts. His scream is of the realization that his attachment to his daughter is gonna sacrifice everything for her, and the anger and pain of knowing that not even she will be safe in the end.

If Jotaro didnt save Joylne he couldve beaten Pucci. Man would rather lose the entire world than have his daughter die, and yet some people still say he doesnt care about Joylne.
I love that Jotaro has always been the "stoic cool guy", which made him appealing to the audience but also made him a pretty poor parent, at least from Jolyne's perspective. The only times he was able to openly express how much he cared for his daughter were when he lost his stand and memories, and when he lost his life. He wasn't able to save his daughter when she was 14, but he did all he could to save her then.
I like that flaw of him. Yes, the whole universe is at stake here, but losing your one and only kid is a bigger nightmare to a parent. Pucci really took advantage of Jotaro being really attached to his family. It just sucks that people think that Jotaro is a bad dad, this is the biggest, most obvious example he cares, and the reason he was away from his family for so long was because he didn't want to endanger their life from Enemy stand users.

I think that outside of the PTSD, Jotaro realised their last resort failed and there was no stopping to what would follow from then on. The screaming came out from feelings of being powerless to do anything to stop Pucci.
I mean, he probably could have stopped him. No big deal, just stop time in the exact fraction of a nanosecond Pucci's sprint around the earth happens to put him firmly in your range. He completes something like 980,000,000,000,000 rotations around the planet in roughly the time it takes a human to blink, so that's like, a ton of chances.

I remember reading the manga and being confused as to why Jotaro couldn’t quickly knock out Pucci; but seeing this animated put it into new light. His PTSD was so high the minute he saw his daughter about to be in the same situation he was in, his reaction time basically slowed down and he acted on his instinct first :(( and Pucci manipulated that instinct

The end of Stone ocean implies they're alive but their lives changed. Jolyne and friends had a entire rebuilt life. Pucci was deleted, not Dio, so the Jotaro of that timeline has less changes.

That scream hit so hard for me, Jotaro was terrified and felt a huge amount of distress, knives taking the life of his grandpa and daughter was the hardest PTSD I've seen in awhile for a character.

He loves his daughter and her dying is probably far more of an indescribable fear for Jotaro then thought of himself being harmed. It’s fear for his daughter’s life, fear for having Pucci so close to defeat but knowing he will not give up on his daughter even if it means the world ending/letting Pucci go to save Jolyne. It’s the fear of knowing not only that their final option/gambit had failed but also that he and the group or utterly out of options. This was the last resort and Pucci checkmated Jotaro and he knew it like you said. But the scream itself I interpret as more horrified and fearful than the usual Jotaro “I’m angry/pisses now!”. It’s vulnerable. Jotaro is vulnerable here.
So yeah I think it’s less rage and anger and more fear and horror.
In the end, his decision to save Jolyne actually led to the best outcome. If Pucchi had been killed at this moment, everyone including Jolyne, Anasui, and Weather who had been sacrificed would be lost forever. But Emporio being the one to deliver the final blow allowed everyone to live on in a world free from the Joestar curse.
That's not them. They're replacements. The originals are all dead and gone.

I love that he saw Made In Heaven, a stand that's objectively terrifying, that close to him, knowing that as soon as time resumes he's most likely get them both, and kept his cool as usual but freaked out when he saw how deeply in danger his daughter was
What i love about this final encounter is that when we first see made in heaven it’s when time is stopped, you see this terrifying new power that’s coming for you as soon as time resumes, and there’s not much you can do to stop it. These final two episodes were incredible.
Tbh this is exactly the same scream he did at the beginning of the 47th episode of Stardust Crusaders, during the fighting agains Dio. And yes, there was exactly this soundtrack in background.

Not only must he have been fucking panicking at the thought of losing his daughter but the mere sight of that many knives in frozen time must've absolutely activated his PTSD of his fight with DIO
Pucci really was right, Jotaro's love was his strength and his weakness, it drove him to conquer fear fighting Dio and in this moment he succumbed to fear and lost.
It does speak to the depth of Jotaro's love for his daughter that he would knowingly die and sacrifice the universe and all of humanity to protect her for just a few seconds longer.
Jotaro literally gets vietnam flashbacks when he sees thrown knives suspended in stopped time.
Kudos to the VA that his scream of terror and scream of rage are so similar yet so distinctly different

That scream says a lot about how Jotaro was utterly terrified of how Pucci played him with the same trick Dio did back in Cairo.
Even in the face of death he always managed to keep his composure, but the thought of having Jolyne killed by the knives (and thus nullying the entire plan Anasui made) is what really made him lose it. Jolyne thought he was a bad father. He never openly expressed his love for the daughter... until this moment.
The music in this climax of an episode goes so hard. So well curated.

Of course he developed PTSD
plus losing Iggy, Avdol, and his boy Kakyoin and nearly losing his grandpa all on the same day. An on multiple times he nearly died facing the toughest opponent he faced at that point.
Even though I had already read the entire Jojo series by this point this scene still hits hard, the first time in the entire series where Jotaro is truly powerless against a stronger oponent.
