I am a D&RGW modeler so no SD40-2's but ScaleTrains will be shipping the best looking SD40T-2 around early October. I've pre-ordered all 6 numbers they are doing - they look very nice in the photos and a step up from the Intermountain version. They are also the N scale tunnel motors in SP. Sweet. But I'm currently doing a layout in HO so ScaleTrains is also shipping D&RGW GP40's and D&RGW SD45's, also due this fall. Yeah, it's going to be very expensive!

Another nice one Jimmy. That was interesting on a number of levels. It is good to see that you are still attracting newbies to the hobby. I would also be interested to see what other channels you regularly watch.

If you want a brass n scale engines. The key custom series engines are very well built locomotives.

I have a n scale set with a diesel and a steam on a Kato unitrack. The diesel never derails, but the steam engine front bogies consistently do on the switches. When I go slow it appears the bogies follow the path opposite of what they should be (switched to go straight but bogie wheels go left on a left hand switch). Suggestions?

Jimmy, love the channel. I am a 40+ year model railroader. I have always been in HO Scale. I currently have my entire collection for sale as I am making the change to N Scale. First question is, what important recommendations do you have for first time N Scalers? Secondly, I have a 10’x20’ space that I am converting from HO to N, can I email you some questions to prevent taking up an entire segment here? 🤷🏼‍♂️🤣 I feel as if you’re one of the authorities on N Scale. Thanks and keep up the good work.

For doing American hon30 like the SR&RL. Kits are all your going to get for now. With the fall of shape ways it's difficult for this scale. 009 in England is really easy to get. Look at Rails of Sheffield. Good luck to your hon30 layout.

    • @andrewlaverghetta715

Yeah I wish there was more narrow gauge in America. To mind, the only stuff I think about are the old west style locos, whereas the OO9 stuff can be pretty varied, but then again, it’s going to be non-American.
Did black stone do some of these, or was it more HOn3? I think that’s a scale/gauge?

(x1, y1) and (x2, y2) is a slope aka rise over run. Also an N-scaler here though nowhere near your hobby level even though I'm in my very late 40s. Still, I enjoy listening to someone who is fast-paced like me (I'm a Veteran). My question now to you is how long will it take for you to dissemble your layout and convert it to modular? Also, what is your favorite EMD locomotive? (in "real" life)

Hi. Drinking Folgers Black Silk. Enjoyed this episode and found it useful as always. This time I was struck by the brick and mortar building I see over your right shoulder. I am a lover of older brick and mortar factory buildings built in the early 1920's up to the 1950's. Please tell me what kit (I'm assuming) this one was built from. Thanks

For your AMA/Q&A, I have a goal of obtaining a total of 40 genral use freight cars (nothing that can haul ore/coal, no autoracks, or intermodal), what would you consider a good ratio between boxcars, hoppers, gondolas, tank cars, and flatcars ( I removed the era limit so if you got 1800's suggestions, it'll probably end up being pulled by an ES44...)

Be very careful using the MRC Railpower 1370 controller with DCC equipped locomotives. Rapido says that using that unit with their DCC equipped locomotives will void the warranty.

It's been roughly 60 years since I had my first and only trainset, a Tyco HO starter kit circa 1965. Having recently retired, I'd like to get back into model trains. I have a mental plan for a West Coast lumber layout, circa 1920s or 1930s. Given the space available, I'll go with N scale, ideally Nn3. But it would be wise to start small first. I want to start with a simple trolley scene, but I'm having difficulty finding realistic-looking trolley cars in N scale. I'm open to era and country. Can you point me in the right direction?

My layout is DC and I got into the hobby later in life. We had a couple of children, a mortgage etc, you know how it is.
As time past more and more of tgd locos were DCC but I couldn’t afford the prices plus I really didn’t know about the system.
Before I realized itvI was way behind and couldn’t afford to add chips to my locos. So I think I am stuck in the past so to speak as I cannot imagine paying the prices being asked today plus, as my layout is British it costs too much now to mail from the Uk

I’m glad I’m not very interested in steam. I’ve been served well by my $100 DC n scale locos that I’ve converted to mostly non-sound for about $30. That’s Atlas and Kato. Then one of the Kato locos got the Digitrax with a different speaker for about $50.
Heck, my HO switcher with great sound from Athearn was only $250.

    • @andrewlaverghetta715
      @andrewlaverghetta715 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Analog would be considered just “DC,” right? He’s mentioned that kind of thing a lot. Something that is “DCC Ready” is also analog. This won’t really include sound though. That’s one of the things you get with Digital Command Control.
I don’t know what you mean by the termanil (I assume you mean terminal).
