How do i add a socket without it moving with the skeleton? I'm trying to add a shield actor (sphere) with its own blue prints to follow player. Alot of tutorials on how to make a shield, not many on how to add it to a player mid-gameplay. Any help appreciated.
@@UnrealART Spelling error of all things 🤦♂️ I also added the socket to the spine and that meant it moved up and down with the character running or even breathing in idle animation. I attached the socket to the correct place, fixed typos, and on the attaching actor to actor node I unchecked the "welding" box.
Hey Thank you! I found the socket in the skeletal mesh, but I don't have BP on my character because I imported it from CC4. Do I need to create a blueprint for him? How can we do? Thanks a lot I am a UE5 noob sorry!
how do I cast a bp, or bp interface, or use a bp actor on my mesh? is this the method? I cant add a BP directly to my 3rd person character, I tried to add it via the 3rd person bp but idk looking for help. Thanks :)
hello I hope you are doing well . this video is not about casting . it's just about using sockets. you can watch some tutorials about casting and event dispatchers and you can find the answer
SHORT and SWEET - beautiful. So the socket itself is just an anchor point node of sorts. I'm guessing it could be a good idea - to have a dedicated bone in the skeleton for sockets to be assigned to. Then animators will have the ability to control attachments by animating this bone in their DCC 🤔
I'm just add animated character (non-playable) to scene and there is no "Soсket" option between "Transform" and "Static mesh" menues so I can't use my sockets for parenting.
I agree I looked at a few tutorials and THIS IS THE ONE THAT HELPED THE BEST. and it was short and sweet lol.
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you soooo much, I have been strugeling with this problem for soooo olong, and I cant belive the solution was sooo easy)))
you are very welcome, glad it was helpful 🥂
And what to do if objects scales is different, need make more sockets or need change socket scale by code?
Both works depend on the system you are setting up, but I think having multiple sockets is easier to manage
