both motors in the coaxial setup will generate lift, but they also generate spin. the upper motor assembly negates the spin of the lower motor.
the 'lift' is generated from the angle of the propeller blade when it's pushed against 'air'. if your motor is going clockwise, and the rotation of your blades are not capturing that air by the way they're rotated ( ->\ is correct, ->/ is not), you will not generate lift.
the rotation of the blades to the way they are spinning are very important.
to go into further detail, if you have a motor that's running clockwise, you'll want the slope of the propeller blade to be facing away from the direction the motor is going. refer back to the other diagram and it will make some sense.

Thank you! I noticed that about tutorials and wanted to explain in further detail so people can get creative with certain designs!
Btw the rotor torque does matter, the torque can increase the amount of air resistance that it can turn. I have my rotors spinning at the speed of 10 and sometimes when I'm adjusting my altitude the motors will turn when on low torque. when I put them on high torque they didn't glitch out.
Yea, when I tested it, the torque did seem to have an effect on whether or not the motors glitched, thanks for informing me!

What is the recommended torque?
@@KuroketTSB I reccomend max torque because it has less of a chance of glitching at max. And rotor speed should be 10. If the speed is higher than 10 it has a higher chance of glitching because it creates more air resistance. Hopefully this will help you and others. I'm working on a helicopter project in one of my next videos.

I forgot to mention, You want your blades to generally be longer than the body of the heli. You can determine this by if they stick out past the nose (front) of the heli. If they do not, this can cause the helicopter to be VERY unstable.

@@Vlexify to make it not spinning, you have to set the down motor F R and the speed is 10, the up motor is R F and set it’s speed to 20 and it wont spin

For some struggling with following along or discouraged from completion, if you’re intermediate enough at building, go ahead and watch episode 3 and start a basic heli to modify and adapt to rather than making a frame, this has worked for me so far

if you want to hover, add helium blocks near the rotor and place max drag 0 speed hover engines, with keys set to something you wont accidentally press

to make your hover become easier, you can use toggle, so, you can just press it to get altitude and lose altitude, way simpler
3:56 if you are having trouble with the motors not knowing how to set them up the bottom motor needs to be (powered: off) and the top motor is (powered: on) and your choice of speed (recommended speed: 10 or higher)

3:28 if you want a custom speed set it on the bottom motor then multiply that number by 2, and apply that to the top motor

"Articulating Rotors" design is actually a bit worse than you described. While yes, the pitch control is satisfying and feels better than the first rotors you showed, the glitching is actually very bad. Even if you aren't going really fast they will glitch and cause your aircraft to tilt sideways.
I am aware of the issue youre describing. Due to poor coding with locked motors, even small amounts of lag can cause the motors to glitch if adjusted while the rotors are spinning. To avoid this glitch, you have to angle the rotors before you spin the blades, which can defeat some of the pitch control capabilities.
I do know that you can circumvent this issue by unlocking the motors, but that can cause its own problems due to the possibility of the motors falling out of sync with each other.
