Three hours for a single rider line. That is just not workable. That’s almost a forget-it-and-skip-the-park level.

    • @TonyKimtheamusementparkfan
      @TonyKimtheamusementparkfan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

For the Japanese people, they don't mind waiting in that kind of a line for a really good ride. It's a cultural thing where they are very organized and patient of how they want to operate the rides, so even if I went there, yes the line is crazy long, but taking the cultural aspect into it, I wouldn't mind.

Just visited this weekend and I comletely agree! The single rider lines saved me so much time that I got to ride every big attraction in the park at least twice, and the variety of coasters, attractions, dark rides, shows and parades are great! Flying Dinosaur was one of he most intense coasters I've ever ridden!

  • @dorkofalltrades5460
    @dorkofalltrades5460 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

Single rider lines ARE truly a blessing. I went on a Disney/Universal trip with my friends last year and was thoroughly disappointed at the lack of single rider in the Disney parks (only Everest, RnRC, and Test Track had it). I do understand it is a family park however, and many of the rides don't need it. On the other hand, it would have been nice if some of the coasters, such as Space Mountain or Big Thunder, and thrill rides, such as Mission Space or Tower of Terror had SR. I think the fact that we got Fastpasses way ahead of time was a bonus in Disney's favor, but for me, SR would have made Disney bounds better than Universal. Still love Disney tho :)
Fun Fact: Both USF's The Mummy and USJ's Spiderman housed King Kong previously, which is why the buildings look similar- they were the same ride!

As a Season passholder Waterworld is not an upcharge, there is a vip area for the the express pass tickets The 100 yen lockers are the same as Hollywood dream, you get your 100 yen back when using them, so they are free. When I first arrived in 2016, on the weekends Harry Potter world was ticketed attraction, which was a free ticket, you just had to be there early in the morning to get the ticket, and the cast members were great on guiding you to the ticket.

I was there in january and honestly, It may be my favourite park, if not a very close 2nd. I luckily got there on a fairly quiet day (or at least quiet by USJ standards) so managed to get almost everything done and a few rerides.
One thing worth mentioning, Space Fantasy very frequently has VR overlays. In the past, it's had stuff like EVA and Final fantasy, and when I was there it had an Attack On Titan overlay

This park was one of the highlights of my japan trip. I spend two days at this park, though I only had planned one, we got an extra day cause my flight home had to be rescheduled due to a typhoon. But the first day was great! crowds weren't so bad, got on everything I really wanted, and overall had a really great experience! On my second day, it was much more crowded because, like taylor, it was a holiday weekend, so I got to do things i liked again, and a few things I skipped last time. Couple of things I want to add:
Water world is NOT an up charge attraction, at least not when I went.
don't skimp out on any of the shows and anything that has cast members involved. just because you can't understand the language, you can get a general gist of what is going on, and the cast members there in japan just really bring the energy and were one of my favorite parts of visiting. even ones that are doing basic things like food service were all amazing!
I was visiting during Halloween horror nights there, and they have a few unique mazes, such as a Resident Evil maze with two different paths, though they were missing some of the big ones that Hollywood and Orlando had. But the scare actors were great, and everyone including the guests at night were all dressed up in costumes, and Space Fantasy The Ride had a black hole overlay on it that basically had all of the lights that would normally be on in the ride were shut off, and spooky music was softly playing, and they still had the bright flash at the end.
So yeah, do not skip out on this park.

I went on a trip last year to japan, and the first place we went to was Osaka. Now, my dad the mad lad he is tempted me with all the theme parks and coasters he could find, (that included USJ.)He said that we were going to see Fuji q highland which is like, right next to Mount Fuji (hint comes the name) because we were taking a bullet train to Kyoto which passes Mount Fuji. And get this, the theme park was on the other side of the mountain... I was really sad, but then my dad knew that was rly bummed so he told me to do some research to find a coaster near by (aka watching theme park crazy) to find roller coasters in Tokyo. So we got on a train and we went on thunder dolphin which is a coaster you reviewed. So in the end the 2 weeks we spent in Japan, at least I got to ride one roller coaster that was respected...

I took a year pass when I lived in Kyoto and it was so worth it. But that was 5 years ago, and from what you're showing there are so many new cool things! Especially the parade, the evening parade back then was rubbish, it felt like a Disney knock-off
One of my favorite things (was still there 2 years ago) is actually outside the park: it's Popcorn Papa, a popcorn shop with 30+ flavors, just outside the gates! I always brought 2 bags back when I went =D

And I was so excited that I was laughing and jumping up and down. Imagine, seeing a lone 23 year old man jumping up and down, smiling... BUT I GAVE NO CARES! I had the time of my life! & was able to get on rides way quicker cause I was by myself. It was great. But, I still have to visit the one in Hollywood & Japan

Hanayashiki is the oldest amusement park in Japan, was built in 1853.
At first, Hanayashiki was a flower park and zoo, then was reconstructed as a amusement park in 1949.

I'm surprised you didn't consider the hotels that are walking distance because they are so incredibly affordable. My room was not perfect (and I got in too late aka after 10:00 pm to look into changing rooms) but I paid $120 in June 2018 for a double room with free buffet breakfast at the Keihan Tower. (The breakfast is hilarious as it is New York themed and includes a chocolate fountain.) In June 2016, I paid 28,700 yen for a renewed double room at the Keihan Tower, with breakfast, 2 tickets for the top floor onsen, 1 adult park ticket and 1 child park ticket. In 2016, I got the express passes. I would get them again, because singe rider when you are with a child doesn't always work, especially for wilder rides. In 2018, the park was completely dead. It was pouring rain and 2 days after a small quake in Osaka. Harry Potter was a walk on, and we did it 6 or 7 times. The Space ride frequently gets reskinned to various other themes. In 2018, it was Final Fantasy themed and you wore VR goggles while on it. We also saw a Sailor Moon 3D animated show. My kid hates Minions so we just walked by that area of the park. There was no line for Spiderman. Flying Dinosaur and Hollywood the Ride were only running sporadically because of the rain, but my child didn't make the height line so... When Japan reopens to tourists we definitely want to go back and I will definitely stay at one of the walking distance hotels. I would strongly consider looking at one of the City Walk hotels for anyone planning to visit USJ.

I'd imagine that Universal Orlando (as an entire resort) is overall better, but this still seems like a must-visit Japanese park, alongside Fuji-Q, (arguably) Spa Land, and DisneySea. This looks like Orlando's Studios main framework, but with Islands of Adventure's singular dedicated lands also implemented.
Also, once Epic Universe opens, let's see how long Japan holds the title of "best Universal park."

A great park - but I was surprised you didn't really discuss the sheer length of the lines here after the brief mention at the start. We visited and quite honestly, the lines were out of this world. I mean - the park is great and all that but the line lengths is a real negative and significantly impacts your day. We didn't get on everything because of this, in spite of some use of single rider lines. They also seem to play about with the theme of Space Fantasy, which is disappointing. When we visited, we had some overlay. The standard of rides more generally through is excellent and I thoroughly agree it is a must visit. if in Japan.

I went to Universal Hollywood in the early 90s and they had Backdraft, then. There was a sign at the entrance saying, if you had a heart condition, don't go on this attraction. went there twice (2017 and 2018), but I didn't realised a lot of things in the video! are those new?
I didn't know about the dino on the jurassic park area, the hogward projection show and the parade?
also didn't go to backdrop, hollywood dream the ride, the kids area, the flying dinosaur (because I am afraid of it) and the jurrasic park the ride (didn't wanna get wet)
I thinkspace fantasy is actually a cinema that usually holds seasonal movie? it was dragon quest during my visit in 2017, and evangelion in 2018

I visited on Halloween 2014, no hhn upcharge and it was nuts (Waldos everywhere.) Harry Potter 300 mins, I could any enter after 4:15. At Backdraft was there any red fire engine cabinet there ? I thought there was and they had a 51 painted on them, was I seeing things. No minions when I was there, but better, they still had Back to the Future there. Jaws being closed may be a good thing, I was seated with some school girls, when Bruce attacked they nearly pushed me out of the boat (I'm a big boy.)

It is rare that you encountered someone from Japan who spoke English. We had to use the google translate app to communicate with people. Luckily most signs in the country have english labels, so we could still find our way around. We only took one wrong train the entire 3 week trip.

They have a secret Royal Studio Pass that is only sold on the Japanese version of the USJ website and it can only be mailed to a Japanese hotel with concierge service. One of the benefits is "VIP entry to WaterWorld and Universal Monsters Live Rock and Roll Show." I would've just wandered in and played dumb if approached.

Heard about the stuff that six flags may be just sacking 2020 additions probably delaying stuff off for a year in places were no actual ride building has taken place? So far it's really just sidewinder safari for discovery kingdom, but i doubt too much has been done on some of the flat rides, and over georgia if they didn't start would be so behind with what they or might still doing with the retracking a part of mindbender and all top of great american scream machine.
Would be a great topic for a video, though I don't entirely know it all goes behind the scenes so if it'll be soon or in like a month who knows.
Personally I don't think they should be faulted for trying to avoid money problems as long as they finish what they have done and not wait with something half-done until like next march 2020 (i imagine jersey devil will definitely be finished even if some horrific future leaves it not to open til september).

You gotta do your research before visiting any theme park:
#1 Avoid going during a national holiday. Research beforehand to make sure you are not visiting during a holiday
#2 Buy your tickets beforehand, not at the ticket booths. You could've gotten discounted tickets on Klook.com including discounted Universal Express Tickets.
#3 Waterworld is free with Admission and does not have an extra cost. I don't know why you assumed this, since your admission ticket comes with all rides & shows at All Universal Parks in the world.
