I just saw a video where a guy made five taps on his waterproof camera housing and got a sperm whale to stop dead in its tracks and investigate. He believed it was a greeting sound. So we know how to say hello in at least one dialect
Do they look closely at the relationships between the pod and a newly born calf, how they teach the calves language? What are their thoughts on regional dialects (like orcas and crows likely have) and how that plays in to decoding the codas? Where do I find the answers to these questions?!
This is amazing but I can’t help but think about the monologue of Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy lol. Imagine if we can actually take the next step and communicate with them on some level.
