I don't really get your question; but if you are referring to the extra 1" on the Waistline, it was used for the elastic casing. But if not, kindly go through the video again am sure you will get it right.

If you mean slope; use 3 by 8 mark but if it's shoulder width you can use 12 for a child

I can see what you’re doing but wish I understood it. I need to make a sleeveless jumpsuit for my 7 year old Grandaughter but can’t find a pattern yours is the nearest. I love it but no idea how to create

Thank you Tracy; you can use the same measurements for a 7 year old if she is on the slim side but if she is chubby then add 1 or 2 inch to the allowance and take note of the full length which may differ.
Go over it again carefully am sure you will understand and get it right
