    Great choice on the "Cobb SF Intake Air Box" I have the same one on my 2002 WRX wagon, to get the best performance it's recommended to go with a custom "Protune" instead of using the Cobb access port v3 stock "Maps" (they run too rich). I have mine tuned on 93octane pumpgas.

    Nice to see you chose the Cobb exhaust. I have a 2012 GR STi and want the same one but haven't scraped together the money yet. Every video on the internet of the Cobb exhaust sounds great though (I may have watched those, uh, quite a few times.)

    Yeah the Intake could be flipped to shorten some of the piping up but then you have to consider the location of the alternator. You can drop them down lower and shorten the belt for more clearance.
    90* just before the throttle body isnt very subtle lol but hey FMIC is a huge win

  • @nathan9290

    you guys have such a nice build going on..so please replace those crummy parts like the alternator and water pump they look just terrible

    • @PedroFTeixeira
      @PedroFTeixeira 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just a small correction, you don't see the water pump. You see the AC, Alternator and power steering pump pulley.

  • @vmoutsop

    You should heat shield those oil cooler lines since they are so close to the headers

    • @andersw1152
      @andersw1152 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was thinking the same thing. Those nylon braided hoses are only rated for ~150ºC and even though the header is wrapped I bet it's going to radiate much more heat than that.

  • @Dirtyz1234

    If you relocate the turbo and flip the intake manifold forward you would only need like half the amount of tubing.
    Killer B has a low mount turbo header that will improve spool and efficieny. and with a rotated intake it will be half the volume in intake tubing.
    Both helping with the responsiveness of the engine.
    Only downside is you may have to figure out the tubing and which intercooler to get and mounting these. some people delete AC and move the alternator, but is is possible to retain both with a bit of modification and a couple extra parts.
    Here is one walk through: www.full-race.com/articles/subaru-rotated-intake-manifold/
    If I were going front mount on a subaru I would do both a relocated (lowmount) turbo and rotated intake.
    Its a little bit more effort, but it is better and just looks way neater. The standard subaru FMIC setup people do just doesnt look right and my OCD will have none of it. lol

  • @RagedxxKill
    @RagedxxKill 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey guys! I love your build and it's amazing. I really don't want to be that guy, but at 7:28 you said laminar flow helps with heat transfer.
    That isn't necessarily true. Turbulent flow causes Eddy currents, and the random motion of the fluid (air) provides a better method for heat transfer. Laminar flow almost creates a blanket on the sides of the heat transfer medium (fins/pipes) which is restrictive of heat transfer.
    I hope this doesn't sound like me being a smartass but just sharing some info! I could also be mistaken, I'm open to discussion of course!
    Have a great day and keep making these amazing videos!

    The unused coolant port can be blanked off without any issue

    • @Lunchbox_motorsports
      @Lunchbox_motorsports 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would you just route the two coolant hoses that hit the factory oil cooler into one another? effectively bypassing the OE cooler? Then leave the OE cooler in place and block off the in and out ports for coolant? I'm trying to figure this out for myself and nobody seems to walk through it.

    Some people or companies say a cold air intake on a Turbo car doesn't matter as long as you have an intercooler. If the intake was in the engine bay getting hot air would it matter if you already have an intercooler? I thing the air filter if it gets colder air then the intercooler wouldn't have to cool as much hot air as if the intake would get hotter air from the engine bay. Also, wouldn't it be better to get colder air for the turbocharger before it compresses the air?

    Is there any greater detail on the coolant hoses and oil lines that were used for the CSF?

    • @Lunchbox_motorsports
      @Lunchbox_motorsports 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LukeHockensmith So honestly man, i bought the CSF, i got it to work with Mishimoto oil lines, and it did a fantastic job of keeping down the oil temps. BUT, at the extreme detriment of oil pressure. I'm talking like 40PSI at WOT, 7k RPM when oil was at 230 degrees. removal of the oil cooler corrected oil pressures immediately. Because of the low oil pressure i was getting premature wearing on my bearings. This is confirmed by an oil analysis from BlackStone. All that said... i would not recommend the CSF radiator/oil cooler. Just go with their radiator and a separate oil cooler.

    Nice work!
