It‘s a crazy time in the world of 2x2 and I think there‘s more to come. I feel sad for Yiheng but imo the decision to count the original attempt was justified and correct. I‘m also super happy for Zayn and the sub 1 WR is very well deserved after he‘s been this close sooo many times.
deserves is an overstatement, sure he has worked the hardest out of anyone to get it, but yiheng mains 3x3, has multiple 3x3 records and yet he can still get a 0.93 2x2 average with significantly less practice.

i feel like this video understates how unexpected yihengs 0.93 and how dominant zayn is in 2x2. pretty much everyone expected zayn to be the first person to get sub 1 in comp and yihengs record really came out of absolutely no where, also for the past few years zayn has been miles ahead of everyone else in the event, he can sometimes see close to ten different solutions in his inspection time, something that no one else has been even close to replicating.
I don't curse, but I nearly screamed wtf when I saw 0.93. I also think that Yiheng's 0.93 ao5 helped Zayn break his mental barrier. He saw that a sub 1 WR ao5 was possible by Yiheng, and in the past Zayn has been miles ahead, so he knew he could be miles ahead of him just like before and got the 0.92. But now Yiheng just keeps inching forward getting closer to Zayn along the way. It is crazy to think that just a few weeks ago we had no sub-1 2x2 averages, and now we have a failed one due to regulations, and 2 real ones!
I think it was correct that Yiheng's extra didn't count, but it was his last solve and he only asked for an extra after his solve was completed and he didn't get WR. I think the controversy has been diminished by the fact that Zayn got a 0.92 a week later, and the Yiheng got a legit 0.93 after that. Both great 2x2 solvers, I don't think it matters as much who was the first sub 1, although it was technically Zayn.
