at 0:29 the clue to easy removal is given. Once the screw is out use a piece of dental floss or other waxed string to slide under the housing and compress that clip (or a steel ruler, but floss avoids scratching anything). It saves busting the clip, as seen at 3:59 BTW, the easiest way to get the sealing ring stuff off is to wipe over it with dishwashing liquid (dawn) and apply a little heat (hair dryer or heat gun) . It will stop the adhesive sticking and cleanup the surrounding dirt too
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod You bet, but you helped me out large and thought it was the least I can do. My ‘23 7.3 250 is currently in the off-road shop getting all the compliments of lights, electric tonneau cover, bedslide and because I’m going baller, a train horn! But more for the onboard air…hahaha
LEDs sometimes have a rectifier inline for breakdown of volts going to the lights to stop power drainage or flashing to fast .maybe that's why they supply the wire ,when you go from normal bulbs to LEDs.
I went with the smoke color because it looks better with the red truck. I started with Recon but a couple of them went out so I found some on Amazon and they are working great.
Wonder if you would consider making a video installing cab lights on a Super Duty that did not originally come with factory installed cab lights. Love your content! Thank you.
I had to modify my 17 gaskets, because the original gaskets were to thin. I made my own gaskets with a thicker material. No leaks since. I couldn’t spend I think it was like $300 for a new set with the thicker gasket.
Been watching your videos for a little while now and are wondering, have you ever run across the gateway module flaking out, but not sending or registering any codes? Had to take mine to the local dealer because it's been showing communication errors for like 3 years but was not giving me any codes or lights. I originally took it in because it started shifting coming out of 1st. Wouldn't shift until it got past 2500 rpms no matter how easy you applied the throttle. It's a 2020 F350 SuperCrew with the 7.3L
Would a heat gun help or is it not needed? Can you add cab lights to a SD that didn’t come with the from the factory or is it too much of a pain in the ass?
Yes, it is possible to install them if you want to do the work. You'd have to completely remove headliner, install the marker light harness from A pillar-up to roof(if not there already), then CUT HOLES perfectly in your expensive truck roof(measure twice, or 3x, cut once!), buy all lights with their individual hookup leads(like beginning of vid) then hope they don't leak. It's risky but it is a possibility. Good luck! 😃🤔🛠️🔧🔩🧰📏📐✏️👍👌💪
I changed mine to clear lenses also using the Recon brand. The only thing I see happening is that the clear lenses are getting yellowish from the sun. Maybe the Ford ones will be better
OK, here is a question.... My dealer said if I put LED bulbs in my headlights, tail lights,Aux added reverse lights , etc. It will damage the Light control module as there won't be enough of a draw and it will fail??? 2017 F250... what do you think?
Sounds about right. Those modules are designed around what is original to the truck. When you start changing things, it may entail a few more upgrades than you were prepared for, even for a simple light upgrade.
When my turn signal went out I replaced both in the rear with LED, mainly because the standard bulbs get do hot they destroy the light socket. Now it hyper flashes in turn signal mode.
You need the LED bulbs with the built in can-bus system, otherwise all the lights will hyper flash or throw codes on the dash. I’m enjoying the looks and light output of the Auxbeam brand, plug and play nothing else needed. Had installed some standard LED’s and they would hyper-flash without the resistors installed, down fall the resistors would get way to hot.
They're Ford OEM factory installed lights....just a later years models! Just clear lenses instead of yellow lenses. And they're both yellow. But, there is aftermarket lights that may not be that color, like Recon, etc. lights may be 'wrong' colors -legally at least. 🤔🛠️🔧🔩
They're factory, so yes. DOT doesn't require specific colored lenses on cab or trailer clearance lights, only that they emit the correct color when illuminated. That would be true for fixed box trucks as well. It was only cheaper for the manufacturer to use a clear bulb for a red or amber lens housing rather than a color specific LED. That's what the people want now.
Last truck had roof lights. I popped them up and filled holes with Clear 30year outdoor caulk. Sat lights back down and tightened with a dab in the screw hole. If water ever were to get under them it won't be able to get in the hole and in the truck. I had no leaks
You guys need Banks Power stuff link here -----> www.bankspower.com/AROD
Do you wanna install cab lights on mine lol and install my dcr conversion kit? Do you fly to your clients to make content? How much would you charge?
Very nice truck and another tight install. And a beauty of a Michigan summer evening!

That was super cool of you to do that! I bet these creators help a lot of people but I'm sure they don't see a lot of generosity like you showed!
Love it! Swapped out mine for the smoked ones on my shadow black 17’.. looks awesome!!!!!
That's a real clean install. Looks much nicer than stock.
Looks great! I opted for no cab lights, I plan on keeping this truck for a long time, and I wanted no holes in the roof!
I replaced my 2016 roof and mirror lights with the Recon clear lens kit. They look great. Nice job ARod

The ones prior were LED as well. Same light just a different color lense

Do it lol. I wanna install cab lights on my 2020 lol
Same here
They look so much better than stock
Awesome job again bud!! 👍🏼😊
The 2021 super duty came from factory with the clear lenses. At least mine did

Is it possible to add cab lights to a ‘21 that didn’t come with them from the factory?
Most certainly

Use goo gone to dissolve adhesive

No brake clean sound effecrs like Rainman does when uses brake clean? Lol!

Happy Friday! 🥳
My lights are clear lenses, but amber color. I wouldn’t mind them being white in color.
I’d do those lights on ruby red 😊
Do you know if the 11-16 have different roof holes not allowing these newer ones to work?
i was told you have drop headliner
U saw how we did it........
I put some on my 17 the plugs suck and don't accidently drop one they do not work after that like the white led.
Could you have used a heat gun to remove the adhesive?
Nice
cant you swap the lens only
No
You don’t have the same sound effects for the brake clean like Ray does. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤣🤣🤣
Lmaooo

@@akbychoicethe front and rear bulbs on each turn signal circuit have to match resistance to keep that from happening. So put led in your fronts

Use Mineral Oil on a paper towel clean with water
What’s the part number for these?
I showed you...
HC3Z-15442-H is the one with the harness and HC3Z-15442-G is the light only.
what year truck
17-19 are amber lenses. 20+ are clear lenses amber light
Could the wires be for a truck that didn’t come stock with cab lights?
Yikes $$$ and no new rubber comes with for screws.
1st question: is the color legal?
No reason why they won't be legal ..when they are turned they are Amber...!!!
Why wouldn’t it be? Only the housing is a different color
@@Lawnfella i appeared to be clear rather than amber

Cowboy lights
Harness could be for none factory installed.
What’s wrong with standing on the seats??? I do way more than that! 😉
Definitely not worth it. I'm already paranoid about my stock ones leaking, no way would I risk breaking the seal over cosmetics.

The 2020 and newer lights come with a thicker gasket than the 17-19. That alone makes it worth the upgrade
Will these fit my 2016 f350 4x4
No
I guess you're not doing a cool seat swamp
That plastic razor scuffs the clear coat and is a bi?tch to get cleaned up.
Waste of time and money.
