@@cuentaeliminada3838Yea the first two didn’t remind me of conventional Vivaldi. The first two remind me of Vivaldi’s very late 5 years when he adopted the Late Baroque/Classical sound. The third mvmt sounds similar to the Dresden concerti by him to Pisendel
b. 1696 d. 1772: Spiess likely performed Bach's sonatas and partitas for violin during his tenure as "premier cammer musicus" (i.e. concertmaster) in Cöthen. Spiess was a talented violinist, and it is believed Bach's two solo concertos were written for him to perform.
I believe the date of death is that of Johann Martin Spiess, not Joseph Spiess' one. I can't find almost nothing about Joseph Spiess, but it seems he died in 1730.
This piece was just unequivocally exquisite. I love that your channel introduces us to all of these tragically obscure masters, thank you!
Das war Musik für Herz und Seele, Entspannung inbegriffen !❤❤❤❤❤👍
I need More or this rare composer!
Never heard of Spiess. He must have been an admirer of Vivaldi’s style, just like his mentor was, especially that third movement 😊
the first and 2nd movement dont remember specifically Vivaldi

Many thanks for tracking down that info. I could find almost nothing about him except that Bach wrote some violin pieces for him.

@@javierm6234 The mystery continues?
@@AnnaBohemianBaroque According to Bernhard Moosbauer in his book about Bach's sonatas and partitas, Joseph Spiess died in 1730.
