    Great video! Just watched to see if I was missing anything but that’s how I use it. You are 100% correct on the vacuum leak test. It’s correct about 50% of the time. I always inject the dye on a low or no Freon system and locate the leak the old school way.

      It will miss leaks that present on pressure 100% of the time! Dye is the way to go for sure. Thanks for watching!

    I have this machine. I used it yesterday for the first time and was not able to get my A/C to come back on. (yes, it did work previously so I know the switches and sensors are all functional). The reason I recovered refrigerant is because the compressor was periodically seizing up with broken belts resulting.
    So, I recovered the refrigerant and took the system all apart and replaced the compressor (clutch included), the accumulator, the condenser, and the compressor mounted clutch switch.
    After getting everything back together, I vacuumed the system, injected 3oz of pag oil with a spotgun, (the new compressor came with 8oz in it and the system calls for 11oz total), and hit a problem:
    I didn't know which charge path to select: High, Low, or both. I selected high and low, just guessing since the robinair owner's manual doesn't say, which really sucks. There should be specific instructions for what instances to use each charge path.
    Anyhow, I suspect I made a mistake in selecting high and low charge paths. The vehicle was NOT running at the time it was charging.
    After completing the charge, the machine prompted me to do the hose equalize, which includes starting the car and turning on max AC. This is the point where I knew I had done something wrong, because the AC would not come on. The clutch did not engage, not even for a split second. I checked every fuse and relay. They were all good.
    One possible symptom of what I'm guessing was a mistake was that when I disconnected the high side hose from the service port, the schrader valve failed and refrigerant was hissing out like crazy, so I snapped the service hose back on and had no choice but to recover the refrigerant again. The valve failing may have been a coincidence, IDK. I'm looking for your expertise for what went wrong.
    So In summary I have two questions: What charge path should I have selected with the vehicle NOT running, and Is it possible that The high side service port valve failed because I screwed up?
    And two comments for Robinair or anyone who works for Robinair: Your owners manuel Fails to mention two critical things: How to know which charge path to select, and that the machine is capable of injecting pag oil while it recharges. I bought a $100 spotgun because I didn't know it could perform this task. Maybe put somthing about that in your freaking owner's manual?! Thanks.
    BTW, I was working on a 2001 GMC Yukon XL 1500 Denali w/rear AC. the system calls for 11oz of pag46 and 48oz of refrigerant if that helps anyone.
    Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

    • @AutoScholarwithMrB
      @AutoScholarwithMrB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the vehicle is off you can select either high or low side. If the vehicle is running with the a/c on, you have to select low side because the machine cannot handle the pressure the high side reaches. To do the oil injection, you must vacuum the system first. When you select the charge option, it will give you the option to oil inject. Also when charging or recovering, never select the POE option unless you have an electric compressor, like ones on an electric car or hybrid. Also, if you have a faulty compressor, it is good practice to replace the condenser, orifice tube, and accumulator, with a good system flush. This makes sure there are no metal particles left in the system, which can damage that new compressor. Good luck with your repair, and thanks so much for watching!

      @@AutoScholarwithMrB Thanks for this video, very helpful. I got 2 questions: 1- before connecting the hoses to the service ports, don’t you have to “Purge” the hoses again to get rid of any air or refrigerant left in them?
      2- If I need to use this machine to inject POE for an electric AC compressor, from your experience, do we have the flush the PAG oil hose inside the machine to clean it from any PAG oil residue? How would inject POE Oil using this machine? Would you please explain in details, Thank you. Ed

If for example the car holds 500g and there was 300g taken out at recovery, do you only actually use 200g of new gas ? Also is there a way that you can just recover gas, for example if you are removing an engine ?
