    How do you love rap when rap doesn’t love you back? From Rico Nasty’s harassment from toxic Carti fans, to Saucy Santana's unapologetically femme aesthetics in a queerphobic industry, to the assault case that put Megan Thee Stallion’s entire image on trial, each episode of Louder Than A Riot - the second season of our investigative hip-hop podcast - unpacks the unspoken rules of rap that hold the entire culture back. Tap in to our first episode at n.pr/louder-season-2.

    I’ve never experienced a new band I liked so much in the modern era…like this is the first time I’ve got to watch every little clip of ever little thing a band does. It’s fun. I’m 141 years old. The last band I liked this much was The Strokes in 2001. Internet was like 7 pages then.

    Some bands just have 'it' - and Wet Leg definitely have that. It's like Cibo Matto and the Ting Tings have crashed into the Pixies - and I love it. Nothing else like it at the moment, especially with the tongue in cheek lyrics - and watching Hester laugh her head off at some of the words is awesome.

    • @alanogy
      @alanogy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I'm closer to 70, and haven't found someone I liked this much in a few years. And nobody this fun in 5 years. This is someone who spent his pre-pandemic life becoming the middle-aged and then old guy at the back of a club hearing live music and looking for new sounds. The singer's voice reminds me of cool from every decade. Lou Reed, the Waitresses, Kim Deal. The silliness takes me back to seeing the B-52's or Go-Go's in the early 80's, or to Pixies songs. When rock is mostly dead and something this fun comes along, I'm interested. I found them on TikTok, where they get mocked and trolled by the young, and I don't understand why.
      I just heard them today and am sad to find they played a few miles away week before last. I'd have made this group my first "I'm fed up with the pandemic and going back out" concert.
