A day after I published this, I found out that the 2018 Versa has a CVT transmission - which is why it's so all over the place. It's still funny though!
The Manual Nissan Versa would completely demolish the CVT in terms of speed. My manual Mitsubishi Mirage with 74hp would have no problem passing this CVT Nissan Versa. Make sure you get a manual since they don't make traditional automatic transmissions in these cars anymore.
@@nick16279 i got the 2024 manual since it was cheaper and learned in 1 day and holy christ , im not a speed freak but it surprised me how zippy this little 1.6 is in a manual, even my yaris with a 1.5 auto is not fast at all but this one surprised me
Dude didn't even know it was a cvt when he made the video. Tip : next time you floor it take your foot off the pedal and press on it again. It will change gears faster
I just bought this for my first car my family has always been poor I have the nicest car in the family, I’m 19, and I dream I wish I was rich but maybe this is a lesson yet. I’ve been trying to do good things just I can’t become rich overnight but rich people treat money like a game when we need it to get by
Those cars have a CVT transmission which stands for continuously variable transmission. There are no physical gears like an automatic would have. The CBT operates and runs by pulleys. I'm pretty impressed on how well that one picks up when you give it full throttle. One thing about these Transmissions is you cannot feel them shift
A car with a 1.5 engine that you want, like acceleration of a lambrequin, sure acceleration is weak, but in its categories, a beautiful car and very cold cooling
RPM flare under full throttle means the line pressure of the CVT is not stable causing pulley actuator to move back and forth. This usually means your CVT fluid is overheating. If you run a temp gun on the cross flow heatsink, I'm not suprised to see 210F.
Idk why people laugh at it, you never need more, and plus, dude, check the price tag. People want to pay peanuts, complain about the "CARS ARE GETTING SO EXPENSIVE", and when they get something cheap just stfu and use it. you have no right to be sitting in one of the cheapest working cars and complain just because it doesn't have a V16 1200HP engine
The CVT is spooling up same as changing gears They just do it in a different way. Google how a CVT transmission works and you will see what is happening inside that trans.
I rented a 21 corolla before I got my 23 mazda 3. I had a 2012 kia soul with a 6 speed so going to the 21 corolla cvt took me a bit to get use to the throttle response not being there. The 21 corolla was a great car for fuel but I prefer the 6 speed I have now in my Mazda 3. The cvt just lagged behind to much for me to even want to give it everything
My advice is to refuse any Versa that a rental car agency tries to push on you. It's pretty much the bottom of the barrel in terms of 4-wheeled transportation!
Driving a CVT equipped car like this is what kills a CVT transmission. Doing this and not having the CVT fluid and filters yes two is why people's CVT's go out.
Hey well at least I don’t have to go to the damn gas pump but once every three weeks and get almost 40 miles to the gallon and pay $30 to fill my tank!😢😢😢

Everyone talks shit on Nissan but I love them because they’re one of the few brands that still offer dirt cheap cars in 2024
Yeah. I'd love to have a Tacoma but if I have to choose between a 60k truck and a 32k (Nissan Frontier) truck, I'm going with the Nissan
It's still better than taking the bus or even walking.

Honestly I didn't know - and I'm glad I didn't, because it wouldn't have been as funny lol

I love this car. This guy is like a little kid 😂

I like feeling the shift tho
Yeah that CVT is tuned to mimic gear shifts. This actually hurts performance even more. CVTs don’t actually use physical gears.
Maybe I am just used to slow cars, but the Versa seems fast to me.
I accelerated decently at low speeds but like 40 and above it becomes a brick

shit car
It seemed like he was conplaing a cvt wasn’t shifting the entire time like what
Nissans D shift technology simulates gears. It knows what’s going on , just doesn’t put it down properly

(looks at title) ... (looks at video length) ... (thinks: "yeah, that's about right")
I was actually worried that I was going to blow this thing up trying to make this video (and I wasn't driving it all that hard). lol
It’s 1.6 l in-line 4 with only 109bhp and a shit cvt , what you exspect

I have not driven a Versa but having driven several Nissan's as rental cars in the last couple of years I can say that none of them have impressed me.

@@driveandreviewI just bought a versa and have 30 days to choose something else should I!
@One Man I ended up going with Nissan Sentra tht looked a little better to me
So do you’re own home work before massing with this cars . Cvt shift like manual transmission so just go easy that’s it .
This was a rental car I knew absolutely nothing about before getting into. Having no preconceived notions is what makes doing these reviews fun IMHO.

I mean..its a 1.6 with a CVT!! What were you expecting?? Lol
Definitely won’t be getting any speeding tickets in this 😂
Funny enough I got smacked with a fat ass speeding ticket in this car 🥲
@@seba_saav how? After this post I bought one anyways & definitely notice the lack of power vs my old 370z lol
@@seba_saav it can barely do the speed limit without having to rev it up to 3000-4000rpm to catch up 😂
@@masterk5066 yo I’m ngl it’s not a race car, but I drive it like it’s one 😂 I got caught going 101 but I’ve done 115 before

You can only do so much with 109 hp and the CVT makes it even worse. Lol
At least it is GREAT on gas.

Damn yours last 3 weeks? You must barely drive
Stick shift and DCT auto are superior for this reason
Zero to 100 this car is 3 days😂
dont diss the tiida
Well i think someone would buy it just cuz they need the cheapest A to B car there is n not for acceleration 😅
bro my parents just got me this car did you really need to make this video?
lol RIP 😄
Driving automatic is for slow people....nissan tell you that here😂enjoy your awfull cvt or automatic anyway
Lol!
