  • Here's an update about how my new grad nurse position at my outpt. clinic is going!
    At one point in the video, I mentioned that I picked up shifts on Holidays, meant to say I picked up shifts during school vacations.

    thank you for being so honest, its week 8 of residency for me and every day i've dealt with a mental breakdown. bedside is hard, especially if your preceptor aand doctors are hard on you,,

      Oh no, a breakdown every day?? Definitely seek out a therapist to help you go through this. Seem support from your other cohort members, chances are they’re feeling the same. Hope you’re able to feel better soon

      Aww thank you so much! It’s by no means a perfect job, but I am actually enjoying be a nurse which is something I thought was unattainable earlier this year.

      @@alexisperez6333 oh my gawd, the OR?! That’s amazing! You truly deserve this. This is what nursing is all about! Taking care of our mental health, and being the best nurse we can be where we actually enjoy the job. Love this for you!!

    Really appreciated this. Aiming for working in a clinic as a new grad, graduate in May 😊

    Aww, this video shows your passion for ENT specialty! I've been an RN for over a year, and I worked bedside for three shifts then quit because I knew it was not for me. I then landed a position at a primary care clinic. I room and triage patients and work alongside a nurse practitioner. I work four ten hour shifts. I don't know if I'll ever do bedside again, but I really enjoy the clinic setting. Sometimes it can be hard, but my coworkers are like family to me and are so supportive.

      Thank you for your kind words Hailey! It’s so damn good to hear that you’ve found joy in doing outpt work as well! Isn’t it amazing? The stress is so doable because you actually enjoy where you work! This is what nursing is all about, IMO.

      @@ReneéLakewood Yes! I agree! I think it’s soooo important to find somewhere to work that you enjoy. And I don’t feel any less of a nurse working outpatient contrary to a lot of other nurses beliefs. 🥰

      hi Hailey, may I ask you? did the outpatient clinic ask you how long you stayed in bedside? did they care your about your hospital experience length? and you simply applied to many outpatient jobs and waited for a call back? or you had connections that helped? thank you :)

    • @haileym8073
      @haileym8073 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there! They did ask me because I still included the role on my resume. I was just honest that my heart lied in pursuing an outpatient role after graduation, and many nurse influencers were coming out saying they started as a new graduate RN in an outpatient setting. I think they really liked my honesty. @@alejandravergara928

    I'm most nervous about the triage aspect as well. When you have time, a video about the process of learning how to triage would be awesome. Thanks so much 🙏

    Can you please tell us about the case management role and if it was really bad?

    • @ReneéLakewood
      @ReneéLakewood  ปีที่แล้ว

      The trauma I’ve experienced from that job is still fresh so I’m not willing to discuss it publicly yet. But I will say this case management position was not in a hospital setting, it was at a non profit that had paper charts for the residents, and no software to document. Was difficult. My experience probably would’ve been better in a hospital setting with adequate training.

      Congratulations!! You’re gonna love it. Definitely know your resources. Know who you can go to for help, know the charting system, etc. If you don’t know something, be honest with yourself and the patient and let them know you’re both going to learn something today and get someone to help.
